I watched other convention-goers play Capybara Games’ Below this afternoon and got really worried. It looked great, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that I would be disappointed when I got my hands on the controller. Roguelikes tend to be either exactly what they should be or just the opposite: buggy games that clearly need a lot of work, and nothing in between. I stood in line and had fears of slow gameplay and clunky combat, but I’ve never been so excited to be so wrong.
