I heard a few people buying a PS4 after this announcement ...and I know one personally who will switch from 360 to PS4 when this launches. TLOU is definately a system seller.

Yup, that's the biggest reason. There are 360 gamers who are now switching over to Sony's new console and they'll want to play TLOU without getting a PS3. There is a LOT of those gamers so there is definitely a market.

The remastered version will tailor to a lot of those 360 fans who transitioned over to PS4, or any who plan to do this. It's definitely a smart choice. The multiplayer will be a lot of fun with all these new players.

Yep, it's just a shame all those 360 gamers had one of the best moments in the game spoiled in that trailer last week. But I suppose at this point it would have been hard to have let that clip pass you by no matter what system you game on, but still, there was plenty more to work with than potentially depriving people of that moment.

Anyway, the more people that get to experience this game the better.

also a few people who left ps3 after it got hacked around the time killzone 3 came out. myself i wasnt too happy with the ps3 before the hack but after i was like hell with it im going to pc exclusively.

You know, I often hear from people that The Last of Us was the game they wished they had a PS3 for, or the game that finally loosened them up to get one.

This was such a smart idea, as there are plenty of people willing to double dip, and also plenty who haven't experienced it other than watching others play it or seeing a trailer or demo. To get a generation's leap quality game, enhanced to take advantage of next-generation hardware is a sweet deal, especially when it comes with $30 worth of DLC.

I didn't buy any DLC for it on PS3, so I can definitely say a double dip is worth it for me.

games like this have discouraged me from buying a ps4. Not that its not an amazing game but there is no reason to buy a full priced ps4 game that i already purchased on ps3.

the difference between the 2 is marginal. If sony keeps relying on full priced last gen games to hold up the ps4 they will eventually start having diminshing returns.

Exactly!!! This is the ONLY in-house Game from Sony to that's a big exclusive to get this treatment, you could get technical and claim Dead Nation, Escape plan, Flower, Flow, PJ Shooter, but those were all small games for the digital market.

I hope you don't think, Injustice and Tomb Raider was Sony's idea...

TLoU on the ps3 is still near full price, so getting the same game on the ps4 that will double the resolution (possibly framerate) and better performance, with all the dlc included and extra goodies When pre order, $60 is a steal. And it hasnt even been a year!
I would like to see people defend Halo 2 amniversary if it releases at $60

Many years ago single player game only game cost 60$ and everybody was happy with the price, today there a lot of people who happy with the price, Infamous Second Son sold 1 million in 9 days so see it prove people didn't complain for the price.

Considering that it took 9 days for Second Son to clear a million sold world wide without Sony giving away the game in bundles, I'm pretty sure they Sold extra PS4s during the launch. People purchased the PS4 for infamous and the Sales prove that.

I disagree because this isn't targeted towards those who bought it already. This is for those who didn't want to buy a ps3 just to play TLOU. Bringing TLOU to the ps4 makes alot of sense because there are still millions of ppl who haven't jump on the Next Gen bandwagon yet & TLOU is a game that can move alot of systems especially if sony decides to bundle TLOU with the ps4. Trust me TLOU will move alot of ps4's.

Also im not trying to go off topic but if Titanfall can get away with just selling a multiplayer only game for $60, then WTF are ppl complaining about TLOU being $60? U get way more from TLOU even without the DLC which comes with the ps4 version of TLOU then u get for Titanfall. Funny how the media says Titanfall is worth $60 but TLOU, the GOTY game with most awards in history doesn't get a free pass like Titanfall. Get out of here.

I agree with you 100%, I would never have pay 60$ for a multiplayer game only since it suppose to cost less for having less value but The Last Of Us on PS4 offer 8 hours of single campaign plus the DLC left behind which is 2 hours of single campaign and it also offer a multiplayer that also include all the DLC for it. This game include all the DLC, Creator commentary, Better graphics in 1080 targeting 60 Frames with a new technology to hear everything quite better sir and the best thing is It would run more beautifully on the PS4.

8 hours??? That's false, everyone who's played this clocked in on their first play through at 15 hours, and that's on Normal. It's NaughtyDog's Longest game yet.

It's Totally worth the $60 especially when you HAVEN'T purchased the $15 DLC or the othe Post release Multiplayer DLC.

People seriously need to give it a rest, This prerelease is for THOSE THAT HAVENT PLAYED IT IF THEY HAD A PS3, THOSE THAT WANT TO REPLAY ON PS4 AND FOR THOSE THAT DIDNT OWN A PS3 AND NOW HAVE A PS4. So if you don't wanna play it on next gen with all the upgrades and such then don't play it.

Another way to disprove the central point of this article is simply to mention that TLOU didn't boost ps3 sales.

The PS4 doesn't need a sales boost. It's doing just fine on its own. Sony is just trying to flesh out a sparse release schedule, as well as getting some extra mileage out of a high profile game. I wish other companies would do the same thing. Rockstar I'm looking at you.

Just face the fact that this game succeeded on PS3 and this is convincing former 360 gamers to get on PS4. They know where the great games are.

I'm not really sure this game will boost console sales that much to be honest. It was a good game, but the graphical difference between the PS3 and PS4 version isn't very noticeable so far. It's a great story driven game, but once you beat it, there is little to no reason to ever play it again. There aren't multiple endings, there are no collectibles and the gameplay is good for what the game is, but isn't so exciting that you need to play it multiple times. The game WILL sell well on the system, but most of the people pulling for this game already have a PS4, and the difference between the two as far as we know as of yet isn't so great to make someone need to play the PS4 version over the PS3 version. Who knows, maybe I'll be wrong...just my two cents.

I've seen you praise Halo, a game that's beloved for its SP and MP. I know tons of people who have gone through Halo campaigns multiple times and there's even less to collect than in TLOU, no alternate endings, etc. but people still put multiple playthroughs into the games, myself included.

I'm sure TLOU won't boost PS4 sales, and quite frankly it doesn't need to, but there are many reasons to go back through it. Just because you might not want to doesn't mean others won't. I'll pick the game up again when it drops in price, but I'll buy it new.
