Hyper Dragonball Z Is A Fan-Made 2D Fighting Game Based On The Famous Anime That Looks Incredible

Team Z2 has released a video for its fan-made 2D fighting game based on DBZ called Hyper Dragonball Z. This new fighting game is created with Mugen, and the team has been working on this for quite some time. And contrary to – pretty much – all other Mugen games, this one looks polished enough.

You can download this from the YouTube page. It's a sample/demo version because there's only 5 characters.

It has gamepad support but it must be plugged in before launching, then enabled. It's based on Six Button: Light, Medium, and Heavy, so you'll need to remap the attack buttons because the Light and Medium Kicks are on Left and Right D-pad.

Sadly there's isn't online play so it's a local game, however, The AI on normal is ridiculously skilled and unforgiving. Vegeta beat like a PROOOOOO-FESSIONAL.

I got to see this in action in person at Evo over the weekend and I just really really wish that they change the aspect ratio. All of the sprites look like there were designed in 4:3 and then stretched to 16:9. I want to see a good fast paced DBZ game though.

SavageKuma3979d ago

Keep in mind it is still in the demo phase so that might all happen and plus dude is doing it for free. If he does a kickstarter maybe all that can happen for the game.

Magnus7013979d ago

Oh I would definitely fund a kickstarter for this, but Funimation could pull the plug on that idea. He would have to acquire the license to use those characters if he ever decided to sell it, which would cost a lot.

That aside, the only other thing I didn't like about it was the onomatopoeia words at the end of the match. They had nothing to do with anything haha.

I keep having a issue with windows 8 where the secend screen option keeps poping up and the health and timer keeps getting reset while playing.

SavageKuma3979d ago

I would reclick on the application, go into compatibility mode and click on Windows & to run in and always admin on. Hope that helps.
