Firefox 3.0 RC 1 takes the lead on speed

The Mozilla dev team claims to have squeezed more performance out of Firefox 3.0. The betas were fast, so has the team been able to get more out of their code?

Over the past few months I have benchmarked several incarnations of Firefox 3.0 beta. My last benchmark of Firefox 3.0 (using the SunSpider JavaScript benchmark), which looked at Beta 5, showed the browser to be the fastest of the pack, comfortably beating all the competition.

So, how does Firefox 3.0 RC 1 compare?

weren't you bragging about Opera being the best Browser or something ? you are seriously a Split Screen

verb3k5818d ago

@Rikitatsu: you are surely talking to the wrong guy :)

whats with that sudden change of heart :) ?

verb3k5818d ago

No change of heart or anything, Opera is a good browser, but still can't beat Firefox 3.
Don't remind me of HD split screens :)

but i want to buy a mac, how does it perform on a mac? is it good too? I am getting really tired of windows, I don't use my PC for games or anything, I am just a regular student who uses the computer just to do homeworks, chat and have my music, videos, etc there.

Why don't you try Linux?

and linux loves firefox... so i'm pretty sure that it will work pretty good with a mac... but safari (mac's default web browser) it's pretty good too.. feels like you're on itunes.. lol.. but safari still better than internet explorer..

i'm also thinking about getting a macbook.. cause i also don't play pc games anymore.. i stopped after counter strike.. and any game that i would like to play i would need a very expensive rig.. and i don't want vista if i get a new pc so yeah macbook most likely

verb3k5817d ago

Yeah, and the Mac version of FF3 should rock because it has a new theme/look that is native to the MAC OS.

firefox works amazingly on a Mac. it's the only browser i use. i'd like to update to 3 but some of my addons don't work with it yet so i'd like to wait until the addon creators update them.

colonel1795817d ago

thanks, i'll be checking it out then..
