EA need to watch where they tread considering they are so for backing the console which got the biggest backlash. Nintendo is a wildcard...

1 Nintendo does not always go with the power-first model. The WiiU (for example) is more powerful than they have claimed but the architecture requires more work to learn because it is not as PC-like. This makes porting more costly.

2 Nintendo adds costly new gameplay/technologies to their machines like Motion Controls. This forces EA to have to spend more money to train.

3 Many Devs secretly wish for a Unified Format. Of all the companies Nintendo would be the last to give into that idea.

4 Also Microsoft and Sony want Nintendo as a 3rd Party, adding value to their machines and not competition.

5 Nintendo is more Arts/Craft driven than business. If Iwata and Miyamoto get a concept in their head they will go with it- They don't worry as much about other people's expectations.

You Nintendo fanboys need to do some open minded research on how Nintendo treated EA, & all other 3rd party developers (especially if Western), back in the day.... EA wasn't even allowed to release games on the NES & SNES without paying really astronomical prices for dev kits, then they were given not one tool, or hint on how to develop on Nintendo's machines, & after that again, Nintendo were charging criminal-esque rates for licensing on there proprietary catridge format.....EA ended up being told by a Sega employee, to develop there own version of the Genesis/MD & there own cartidges for it, which EA did, & thus that is why EA's games on Genesis/MD games, always had that bigger shape, & colored tab on there games. The history is quite amazing to read about, & Nintendo were absolute Nazi-esque tyrants of the gaming world back then. And there stubborness, pigheadedness, greediness, & all other ness's, is the reason that there greatest competition yet, came into the industry with so much initial success.
I mean, I love my Wii-U & hope it sells well SOON, but lets not kid ourselves on history & such.....I'm sure that EA did this in a playful manner, but they would have also enjoyed sticking the boot in to Nintendo, as anyone would that endured the crap that Nintendo put them through back in the day. EA may not hold a grudge, as it is a business, BUT, that doesn't mean it forgets the criminal-esque trade practices that other businesses have committed against them...& make no mistake, Nintendo's approach back in the 16bit days, should have been illegal & criminal behavior, as it was, same with Sega's to a lesser degree. The fact the industry was in such infant state, was there savior...I have no doubt now, that it would be deemed illegal trade practice in this day & age of fair trading, & if not illegal, you would be broke in no time, as NOT ONE 3rd party developer would support you, unless you had a 100million install base.

Haha sounds similar to me although with the online pass' being introduced I used to buy brand new rinse for a week or 2 redeem my pass for when I sell it and re buy it 6-12 months later for peanuts! And at least still be able to play online without paying more fees, Luckily they got rid of the passes and these days I just don't but EA games had a little rinse on FIFA 14 for a week or 3 on my ps4, might get it again when the new ones out and get 15 much later down the line, if there's one thing you can be sure of they've always started the next game in series before the latest ones even in the shops.

To all the people here that slam Battlefield 4 to try and downplay that the Wii U really is underpowered, selling poorly and extremely limited with its game selection: How can you compare ONE game having internet problems with a console and its ENTIRE library being underpowered and decidedly last gen? Pointless argument. Battlefield 4 online was trash but there's a world of difference between failing at making one game's multiplayer stable and failing at making a console.

Nintendo has been pumping out the same Mario and Zelda games for almost twenty years now. They're finally learning that subpar graphics and no third party support can't be cancelled out by rehashed Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong games. I had a Gamecube, an NES, a wii and an N64 and they were all better consoles with a much better variety of games. Nintendo needs to change everything or become the next Sega and make titles for other systems.

Why?
Nintendo is a wildcard...

1 Nintendo does not always go with the power-first model. The WiiU (for example) is more powerful than they have claimed but the architecture requires more work to learn because it is not as PC-like. This makes porting more costly.

2 Nintendo adds costly new gameplay/technologies to their machines like Motion Controls. This forces EA to have to spend more money to train.

3 Many Devs secretly wish for a Unified Format. Of all the companies Nintendo would be the last to give into that idea.

4 Also Microsoft and Sony want Nintendo as a 3rd Party, adding value to their machines and not competition.

5 Nintendo is more Arts/Craft driven than business. If Iwata and Miyamoto get a concept in their head they will go with it- They don't worry as much about other people's expectations.

The fact is that its not just Dice/EA that has been throwing Wii U hate around its been this way since the Wii U launched.

I just dont get the hate for Wii U from either the developers/publishers or the gamers.
The Wii U is a good strong system and just because its not up to par technically with the XboxOne or the PS4 is no reason to hate on it.

Heck the Turbographix-16 was just a pumped up 8-bit console when compared to the Genesis and the Super Nes back in the day and it had some great looking and playing games that were just as good as most of the other 16-bit console games.
Games like Splatterhouse and Ninja Spirits were the bomb back then even though not many people had a Turbo in the states it was incredibly popular in japan.
