Just when NVIDIA launched theirs with 12GB of GDDR5, you get AMD launching their 16GB model.
It's a competition of "Mine's bigger than Yours!"

HighResHero3679d ago

They are both ridiculously powerful and their prices reflect that. I'm going to stick with Nvidia for my "gaming laptop" and look into the Firepro line for 10bit color, etc. when if I get a "professional" rig. The w9100 is out of my price range for now either way.

This is a PROFESSIONAL GRADE GPU.

It's meant for Auto Cad, super duper 3D modeling and Architects and other WORK TYPE stuff.

It can play games but not really meant for that.

It's something Manufacturers would use while designing 3D models of future products

This card is actually a workstation level card and is aimed at the Quadro line of Nvidia cards, not the GeForce line of cards.

Stapleface3679d ago

It's interesting how AMD names their cards to coincide with the amount of heat they will produce. /s

Fixay3679d ago

haha made me laugh. bubbs

rodiabloalmeida3679d ago

If you think FirePRO is for gaming, you are so wrong.

Pancit_Canton3679d ago

It's more like future proofing your PC's. That card can probably last a next decade or so without calling it obsolete. The price on the other hand is not for everybody. But if you got money to burn and don't like the hassle upgrading your system every 5 years or so, then more power to you and buy it.

Fishy Fingers3679d ago

No it's for professionals. Programmers, high end video editors, stuff like that.

Veni Vidi Vici3679d ago (Edited 3679d ago )

Maybe it applies to the game devs?

bumnut3679d ago

It does apply to devs, but this is not a dev site.

FlameBaitGod3679d ago

Towelie go get high bro, stop making a fool or ur self

bumnut3679d ago

Fine, but it's still not gaming news.

Agent_hitman3679d ago

Holy cow!, PC gpus are getting more and more powerful every year.. But unfortunately, only rich people can afford lol..

Allsystemgamer3679d ago

This is for computing and calculations modeling etc. It's not a gaming GPU

This sounds very interesting, Superhot was a great game to take inspiration from.

Babadook73h ago(Edited 3h ago)

I liked the VR version of SUPERHOT. If this ends up being as good I'l pick it up (once available) for PSVR2.
