There are a number of games that keep you invested as you play them, the one more turn mentality of not being able to put the game down. Dark Souls 2 – like its predecessors – goes a step further than this. It not only keeps you gripped whilst you are playing, but totally invades your mind. Every second I wasn’t playing Dark Souls 2, I was thinking about playing it, wondering what was around that next corner. The sense of discovery and potential sense of achievement make this game darkly compelling and savagely wonderful. Dark Souls 2 may not be the best game in its series, but that doesn’t stop it from being an outstanding title

See every time I "discovered" something it was a boss that raped me...

The game is great, but the amount of grinding just puts me off a bit, I rather not play through a level 40 times killing the same enemies only to encounter a boss that kills you with two hits...

Personally, I can't go back to other action/RPG games after playing Dark Souls. The difficulty provides a sense of accomplishment that very few other games provide. I wouldn't have it any other way.

As for how DS2 compares to DS, I'd say the combat system/customization is much better in DS2, but the story is a bit less interesting (this is subject to change, though. The first time I played DS1, I didn't even know the game had a story.). Overall I'm super satisfied with the game

Well maybe to avoid dying by 2 two hits use your souls to level up your character. Just a thought to keep you till at least 3-4 its before death :p

Grinding isn't even that huge on this game. They have specific spots that are worth the grinding time. I've spent alot of time killing stuff on this game and i can tell you i was much more bored on Dark Souls 1 grinding.

The fact they took the trophies away for all the specific max level weapons eliminates like 80% of the grinding.

Love this game currently lvl 117 and just farmed the Iron keep.

I did that, and I still struggled a bit with those giant knights, I laughed when I ran past a few in order to enter a mist, then this fat knights kills me with 2 hits. I found myself grinding quite a bit in that part.

Overall, believe it or not, I actually want to get this game, I rented it for a bit and got a bit addicted and now I want to go back to it. I just heavily dislike grinding.

Hey nez,

What level and what zone are you? Sounds like you need a shield. Do you use a Shield? I recommend one on your first playthrough of these games.

It was Heide's tower of flame, I was only like level 15 and was a swordsman, I was using a sword and a dagger. I was getting past the knights pretty good with just a bit of patience it's just the dragon slayer and dragon rider that were extremely difficult for me.

IMO if you're new to the game having a shield is very helpful on the first play. It's just alot easier imo to live and be successful. All ways are possible though just some are harder and some are alot harder. Some i think like the swordsman are really hard in the beginning.

I have Infamous SS and MGS just sitting there. I keep coming back to Dark Souls 2. I really wish they bring it to the PS4 with those PC/Teaser trailer graphics. I would rebuy and wont minds starting over again. Damn good game.
