Nvidia talks DirectX 12 support, has Worked with Microsoft on it for four years.

Nvidia really likes DirectX 12 and its own Henry Moreton was happy to tell the world that Nvidia worked on DirectX 12 with Microsoft for four years, helping to shape the new API and reduce the resource overhead.

Better ports with DX12 makes me a happier gamer! PC FTW!!

starchild4100d ago

Yep, good stuff. I'm really happy about a lot of stuff that is going on in the PC gaming world.

Damn, and I thought they weren't sweating mantle because of gsync. Turns out they had another secret weapon. Glad I am part of the green machine.

Somebody4101d ago (Edited 4101d ago )

So all those huffing and puffing they kicked up after everyone praised AMD for winning the next gen exclusive hardware deals and later for Mantle is just a big smoke screen. G-sync might even be just another layer of smoke screen to make everyone think it's the only choice nvidia has to combat AMD's recent string of successes.

Nvidia had to reassure its users. It's easy to feel like you missed out when Amd has control of all consoles. So they did that and then showed us their hand. I can't really speak about consoles as I don't own one but for PC, Nvidia has done a lot of great things thanks to the competition provided by AMD. We need both. But I side with Nvidia because of their software and driver support. I can record my gameplay on the graphics card with perfect quality and mic sound, minimal performance impact, and small file size. I can stream using the card too! I know I sound like a fanboy but I'm just really impressed by how far their software has come. I can't talk about my gsync experience because I haven't used it. But the stuff I mentioned previously rocks my socks off.

JustPlay44101d ago

To bad they mostly only talk about PC and not about xbox.

gamernova4101d ago

PC for the win! But I'm sure MS is not pushing it that hard if it didn't do something good for their console. MS only does stuff where the money lies. And there's definitely money in the xbone.

mhunterjr4100d ago (Edited 4100d ago )

The idea that ports between the PC and xb1 (and vice versa) will be more efficient is news enough for me. If developers choose either platform as the lead, the other should be able to preserve the benefits.

Alan_Shore4100d ago

Can't wait for the real maxwell gpu's to release gonna be insane.

darksky4100d ago

DX12 is also supported by AMD so hardly Nvidia's secret weapon. Chances are AMD will have very good DX12 support due to their experience with Mantle and the DX12 development for XB1.

The article makes it look like Nvidia was the only one working with MS on this but in reality MS worked with Intel, AMD and Nvidia.

gamernova4100d ago

It strikes me as a little odd that AMD decided to develop its own API if it knew that DX12 was good and around the corner. Doesn't make too much sense but at the end of the day, it's pushing innovation so I approve of all of it.

If they been working with them on Dx12 then why does x1 not have a Nvidia graphic card in it? just seem weird Unless this is PC only, thats cool even though I don't have a Nvidia card

Somebody4101d ago (Edited 4101d ago )

DX is supposed to run on any compatible hardware, not through only one particular brand. It's different from what AMD is doing with Mantle that they made themselves which is exclusively for AMD hardware.

Otherwise how can MS boast that they can port PC games for the X1 in just one day if DX12 is exclusively for Nvidia while the X1 is based on AMD hardware.

combatcash4101d ago

Yup dx is for either nvidia or amd

MorePowerOfGreen4100d ago (Edited 4100d ago )

3 billion was spent on AMD for joint custom GPU, AMD worked on DX12 too. Obviously MSFT partnered with each company based on the needs of MSFT's products.

LOL? http://n4g.com/news/1479688...

Glad the devs are getting the kits already and average folks in a preview later this year(yes I know the general public has to wait until the end of next year)

I'm sure XB1 1st party devs and some 3rd party devs are already using it, not to mention XB1 already has part of DX12.

Haha. The last think to pin your hopes and dreams to huh? Dear oh dear...LLOONNGG road ahead for you POG, long road...

Good news for the Xbox One but, Can someone explain what this means in human?

Bigpappy4101d ago

Yup! Better performance for X1 and PC, also compatible phones and tablets.

edqe4100d ago (Edited 4100d ago )

Microsoft is gets tighter vendor lock-in. DX12 will help X1 and PCs that runs Windows. It will also help Windows tablets and phones.

DX12 is incompatible with all other devices other than the ones that are running Windows. This means lots of more work for game developers.

DX12 is nice for Windows users.
