Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is a tricky one to peg down. Is is a prologue or demo, and is it actually worth £30 on PS4 & Xbox One? Gamers have asked Dave Cook many questions about Kojima’s latest this week. Here are the answers.
I pre-ordered mine from Gamestop, so it's only costing me £19.97. At that price it's worth it for me.
ironically that costs more than $30 and most places are selling for £25-30!
How is that ironic? It's $40 for the next gen one isn't it?
Nope http://www.amazon.com/Metal... Amazon US is selling PS4 GZ for $30
@die_fiend Nope, Kojima lowered it to $30. Either way I am buying it for next-gen and using a $10 discount that came with my PS4.
Yeah I got mine from Gamestop for that price also. I think it's worth it at that price (not that I've played it yet), especially considering Phantom Pain is going to be ridiculously big and will balance out the value.
I've played a few hours of it. I've been messing around a lot. My only concern is how much it feels like Splinter Cell: Conviction. Now, Conviction is a phenomenal game. However, this doesn't feel like Metal Gear to me. If you want it to be, it can be a straight-up 3rd person shooter. That's just not right. I understand Kojima and Konami wanting to gain a larger audience, but I'm not sure I'll stay onboard for more. Also, Kiefer...
As for the gameplay: it's been like that since MGS3. With Splinter-Cell, especially Conviction, the gameplay flat-out devolved from stealth to action. At least in this game, and MGS3 onward can be argued you can run through the whole game in a stealth-like fashion if you wanted to without the experience feeling artificially-different. Kiefer, yeah. Very questionable choice. Kiefer should've voiced Sam instead TBQH. At least in games like Blacklist it would've made sense.
Yeah keifer does not do it for me. it just does not fit snake (big boss) especially after peace walker.
Gameplay is the same as Metal Gear Solid 3. You can easily run and gun or just stealth through it. It feels like Splinter Cell because of the upgrade in terms of technology and gameplay mechanics, I don't really see a problem with that. Kiefer was just a poor choice, I don't understand what Kojima was thinking when he voice casted him. I would prefer it if the voice was a bit more deeper, or David came back.
If they included the old MGS games that doesnt take up much space on a disk I would. It would be great for people who never played MGS.
Yeah why not try shopping around.
If anyone pays £29.99.... Madness! It's around £24 most places give it a week or 2 and it'll be less than £20, plus second hand copies will start flooding in not mine tho £23.86 from amazon and it won't be getting finished in 30 minutes.
Yes and no .... it's a really shady deal , even if truth be told , the game is sold cheaper than that if you are looking properly . That said , people make excuses for other short games all the time and gleely by them , except some wich argue about length and value , thus remain coherent with their original stance . I'm just sometimes smiling , about people complaining , then proceeding to purchase 3h to 5h games at 50-60 dollars , that dont even provide Mp and "only" additional replays . Or buying 20 dollars digital games that remain short too . So to those i usually ask , really ? That's where you draw the line ? a few less hours at half the price ? Ok then ... that's your prerogatives , i've got mine
Give me Pc version and I can pay any price
Yeah, for $30 (digital copy), I think it's worth it. I've been playing since yesterday and there is far more to do than a 10 minute speed run on the main mission.
I agree I was skeptical at first because of some of the reviews the game was initially getting, but I picked it up (digitally) for $30. It is worth it. There is a lot more than just the 10 minute main mission. Although, it did only take me 15 minutes to get an S rank on the main mission on hard.
It's probably the best Metal Gear to date
I wouldn't say the best but the gameplay mechanics are there for a great MGS game.
I would say it isn't a smart way to spend your money, but it sure is fun!
I just think of the days way back when people bought Zone of Enders just for the MGS2 demo. I still have yet to meet someone who actually finished ZoE, but I can confidently say that everyone i know -- and even ones that I don't -- has surely played that "free" demo. Maybe this demo should've come with a free game to give us that old illusion and we'd all be happy.
Meet one!!! LOL I initially did the same thing. I got ZoE specifically for that demo. But, then I had some fun with ZoE. I actually quite liked the game. That being said, I do agree with your point. It's very personal for people. I say live and let live.
Ah, so you're the one! lol
stop bitching - i'd happily pay full price for it. it's gonna be stupendous
I had some trade credit but i stll would pay full price for it. phantom pain!
I've just had to cancel mine can just about afford but can't really so I'll go without for a couple of weeks nothing out for a little while now anyway and I've got a backlog of all backlogs haha, need to crack on with what I've got and besides I'm sure playing this ground zeroes is gonna just make me want the next one even more and yet it won't be out for a good year or so so I'll delay this a bit first me thinks.
Nope. 10% story content=no buy
Bought it for ps4. Played it. Regret that it cost me 30. Should be 20
