someone make direct comparison of specs to the O. Rift please?

Hatsune-Miku4109d ago

I know some psychics who said sonys VR can never display 1080p images are upset. I can't wait for project morpheus

morganfell4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

Here is a comparison: http://www.trasteando.es/su...

E3 is going to be a bloodbath. Some companies will leave there looking like a cross between the losers in an episode of Spartacus and that guy who tried to shave a wildcat's butt in a telephone booth.

Kingthrash3604109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

looks at ps4....for some reason i feel like thanking it. .....o.O

wow! the speaker on the controller just said "your welcome" in morpheus from the matrix's voice.... before i thanked it. O.O

Anonagrog4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

@morganfell,

That will probably be based off of experiences with the old dev kit and not Crystal Cove. Hopefully both kits will be more on par with each other once Cove gets into the hands of the devs.

To your comment below:-

I don't see what Keighley's intelligence has to do with anything. In any case, the following EDGE article has been cited a few times this week.

sorane4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

The latest rift is 110 fov 1080p Grizz with 1440p version coming.

Edit: Love the disagrees for just answering his question truthfully :) If you want to be mad about something be mad that Sony just said they are using lcd instead of oled.......

nicksetzer14109d ago

90○ field of view??? That's not great.

morganfell4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

I would say since the Sony dev kit is relatively new those are new impressions that include Crystal Cove. Geoff is a dumb guy but not that dumb. You are going to have to accept that Sony may have built a superior project. And word of Sony's superiority started leaking out weeks ago.

E3 is going to be a bloodbath for some people.

PeaSFor4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

@nicksetzerderp

you are aware that a 60-70 degrees field of view equates what the human eye perceives of the real world, right?

so guess what, 90deg is more than you actually need, like it or not.

Eonjay4109d ago

@nicksetzer

90 degrees +

That the exact same view as the new Occulus Rist

scott1824109d ago

@nicksetzer1

Not impressed with anything Sony are you? 90 degrees is more than enough for a field of view...

sorane4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

@peasfor

http://www.artinarch.com/vp...

"Humans have a total field of view between 160 to 208 degrees, about 140 degrees or so for each eye and by regular field of 120 -- 180 degrees."

Not sure where you're getting your info, but it's wrong. They even say the 110 fov of the latest OR isn't enough to cover all of your vision.

nicksetzer14108d ago (Edited 4108d ago )

@peasfour it is absolutely hilarious how you can make such an outrageously incorrect statement and get almost all likes, this site is unbelievable. I can literally see directly to my right (that is 180° btw. In fact tunnel vision (lowered field of view) starts at 100°. Are you saying that the average human suffers from medically extreme versions of this highly rare condition? I'll assume the more likely realization that you along with you're bafoon like posse are just morons.

PeaSFor4108d ago (Edited 4108d ago )

go read again, an eye isn,t a plural noun form, btw you have two eyeS

but hey, if you have a total of 200° fov and can see behind your head....erm..well thats PRETTY FRICKING AWESOME!

EDIT:nicksetzer1
btw piss off with your pm spamming, you may be mad but keep it for yourself.

sorane4108d ago

@pea

I don't have to read it again to know you make no sense. All I have to do is open my eyes to see you're not right. If you can only see a 60-70 fov with either eye I suggest you pickup your phone and make the earliest eye appointment you can get. I also recommend that you have someone else drive you to said eye appointment. I can easily see that I have 180 or more fov while I'm typing this message.

Dasteru4108d ago (Edited 4108d ago )

@PeaSFor:

Where the hell do you people keep coming up with this garbage information?

First it's "people cannot see more than 30fps" now this?

This is just crap made up by console fanboys who don't want to accept the limitations of the hardware they use.

The human eye can dynamically view between 15 and aprox 5000 fps, depending on what is being viewed. As for FOV the human eye has a nearly 180 degree horizontal FOV and aprox 95 degrees vertical.

Direct quote from an actual optometrist, aka someone who knows alot more about the human eye than you.

"The approximate field of view of an individual human eye is 95° away from the nose, 75° downward, 60° toward the nose, and 60° upward, allowing humans to have an almost 180-degree forward-facing horizontal field of view. With eyeball rotation of about 90° (head rotation excluded, peripheral vision included), horizontal field of view is as high as 270°. About 12–15° temporal and 1.5° below the horizontal is the optic nerve or blind spot which is roughly 7.5° high and 5.5° wide.

starchild4108d ago

The Rift has about a 110 degree field of view if I remember correctly. http://www.keenandgraev.com...
When I used it I was still able to see darkness at the sides of my field of view, but your brain does do a pretty good job of tuning it out after a while.

Dasteru4108d ago

Just to add to my last post, here are a few comparison shots from Skyrim.

webeblazing4108d ago (Edited 4108d ago )

You have to except PS fanboys won't except anything that Dont make Sony look superior . OR is ahead and Sony is only this far because OR damn near everyone what they discovered. Even if the catch up they are not going to be on the same level on the experience your getting . Because PS vr is is going to be tied down to what it can do by the ps4. OR is focus on higher resolutions, while we still Dont know how well games are gonna run for this.

If they just cosigned OR with the 60fps like OR wasn't teaching everyone for the last couple of years, than what are they gonna do because we are not seeing games @ 60fps let alone locked at it on the ps4. So are they gonna have it at a lower res, downgrade gfx.

Your starting to see it. People need to start asking question instead of loosing it when someone call out the bs.

Oh since I hear console only gamers say they hate options. Would that mean if these problems come up you want the dev to lower the gfx in the gfx of the game that will be playable regular and in vr, while PC player get best of both worlds. Instead of great looking regular vers and OK looking vr vers.

VR, and Shenmue tomorrow.

Thinking about the possibility of a future instalment in the series and the future of VR at once is kinda too much.

parentoftheyear4109d ago

Guessing it will be next year sometime.

ErcsYou4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

After pondering the 90 degree viewing angle for a moment I find it reasonable. 180 degrees would allow eye movement left and right but Sonys vision seems to be focused more on head movement. It should work just fine.... until next gen. =)

kamisama4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

You do realize we only see 90° we have to move are heads to see a full 180° so it does make sense that it would work in the same way and feel natural

ErcsYou4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

Your field of view is higher than a 90 degree viewing angle and that's what let's you see people in the corner of your eye. Looking left and right with yours eyes gives you a 180 degree viewing angle.. Imagin the eye strain to enjoy that 180 degree angle.. no thanks.

Edit: The approximate field of view of an individual human eye is 95° away from the nose, 75° downward, 60° toward the nose, and 60° upward, allowing humans to have an almost 180-degree forward-facing horizontal field of view.[citation needed] With eyeball rotation of about 90° (head rotation excluded, peripheral vision included), horizontal field of view is as high as 270°. About 12–15° temporal and 1.5° below the horizontal is the optic nerve or blind spot which is roughly 7.5° high and 5.5° wide.

scott1824109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

Do you seriously want to have to move your eyes from side to side just to see that part of the game the whole time? 90 degrees is plenty!

360 degree rotational tracking with a 90 degree field is perfect...

ErcsYou4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

Do you seriously want to have to move your eyes from side to side just to see that part of the game the whole time? ... Nope. But I would like to see my enemy's in my peripheral while playing a FPS. Seems like a lot of wasted processing power though. I actually like the idea of 90 degrees with 360 degree head tracking. I'm getting one for sure..

Incredible.So glad they aren't half-assing this thing.The specs are great.Doesn't rest on cheeks or nose, good airflow, no lens fog, lots of support already.Precise "Move" like tracking.Ugh man.This is such a dream come true.

Can't wait for the RPG's with this.

GarrusVakarian4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

I agree, the execution/delivery of this is just perfection.

If they price this well, this could seriously change things. Just read the impressions of people who have tried the Oculus Rift....Everyone says how much VR could change gaming and are instantly supporters of it I really hope this takes off. Immersion is a big factor of why we play games, we want to be immersed into that game world and be taken out of the real one...that's the whole point, right? VR would just give a huge boost to the immersion of a game.

"Can't wait for the RPG's with this."

Oh godddd yes, my face is ready!

90 degree is just head on view you don't view all sides of the image. Still its only brand new it will improve over time,

Outside_ofthe_Box4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

*Field of view* is 90 degrees. Full 360 degree rotational tracking is supported.

5eriously4109d ago

Head on means straight in front. Who has eyes on the back or sides of their head to see 360 degrees at once?
As you turn in game you will view the full 360 degrees as you turn. You will have the sensation of being in the game.

This would have been a LOL if the troll attempt was not so pathetic and actually very tragic as it shows what little technical savvy you have up there!

GarrusVakarian4109d ago

"you don't view all sides of the image"

......Until you move your head, it has 360 degree tracking you know?

Rhezin4109d ago

wow! I've never experienced virtual reality. This looks awesome! Although it'll probably be years before it's released and years after that until I can afford one. Still looks cool!

GrizzliS19874108d ago

coming out by christmas 2015. Wait is tolerable.

Pretty much even Sony VR is king!
