Will Yoshi Be Nintendo’s Next Icon To Claim The 2014 “Year Of” Title?

The Year of Luigi officially concludes tonight at midnight. Another one of Nintendo’s iconic characters must approach the dark stage front, slide a dim-lit foot into the bright shining spotlight, and prepare for a year of due recognition fueled by fun-filled gaming experiences and strategic marketing campaigns. But who will be the chosen one?

Good article! I can easily see this year being the year of the Yoshi. I hope they do some really cool stuff for Yoshi. Things this year I would like to see for year of the Yoshi.

1. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Virtual console release.

2. An actual release date and new information for Yarn Yoshi Island.

3. Yoshi announced for Smash!

4. Yoshi Island/N64 Virtual console release.

1,2,&4 are would be pretty good but Yoshi has been in Smash since it's conception on the 64, it's pretty much common sense that he is going to be in it without needing to show him.

It was the year of mario and the year of kirby for their anniversaries and then there was that year where they did the zelda 25th anniversary stuff. They've been doing it for a while it's just they've put more focus on it this time.

And after its over, Nintendo announces a game that involves both the great Mushroom Kingdom sidekicks. Don't know what genre it would be, but it will be awesome!
