The Lego Movie Videogame PS4 Version Probably Uses Supersampling From Resolution Higher than 1080p

The Beyond 3D forums are the home of pixel counters, and today user Globalisateur posted a very interesting analysis of the resolution of the PS4 version of The Lego Movie Videogame, apparently it uses supersampling from a resolution higher than 1080p. On Xbox One it runs at normal 1080p

wow very interesting .1920*1200

Nope the actual rez is 1920x1280 . Good find

pedrof934114d ago

So Ps4 version is downscaled to 1080p ?

LOL That's a new.

It's insane how many stories about the PS4 capabilities are so positive. Like the whole story with CoD:Ghost having issues because it goes above 60fps every once in a while. With all this positive news, I just feel great about owning a PS4. I am so glad that I woke up at 3am and brought my console on launch day from Target.

If the developers are getting all that extra power out of the Ps4 why are they using it on super sampling when they could increase the frame rate which would give a more noticeable visual improvement? This smacks of Microsoft and their 'parity' clause being snuck in. They have one still for game publishing, and they had one last gen that prevented publishers making games on PS3 with improved features.

Abriael4114d ago

Either because it's less work, or because the pixel difference is not as big to increase frames to 60.

@N64fan, On the N4g comments I might disagree with another poster's comments but I don't call them 'scum' or a 'troll' or 'retarded.' I try and be respectful in the way I speak to others here. The fact that you get so angry in defended your favourite hardware manufacturer may be why you are ignoring pertinent facts.

Please read this article about Microsoft's parity clause last gen which actually pertains to content. http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

Microsoft's contractual terms " "Titles for Xbox 360 must ship at least simultaneously with other video game platform, and must have at least feature and content parity on-disc with the other video game platform versions in all regions where the title is available," "

Square Enix previously implied this was the reason that the Western version of Final Fantasy XIII on PS3 did not have the Japanese language track and mouth movements, because it would have required at least another costly DVD for the 360 version. Because this couldn't be done this was prevented from being included on the PS3 version.

So Microsoft have contractual terms that stipulate feature and content parity yet you think what exactly, that it is impossible they can stipulate presentation parity?

@N64fan: Really? So you think a developer is going to come out and admit that the reason the PS4 version isn't better is because of the parity clause? LOL. It was there all last gen ... and just how many times did we hear about it?

Thanks I always try to look my best :)

Beastforlifenoob4113d ago

Wait is this similar to that feature that was implemented to battlefield 4 pc where you could run it at say 1920*1080 but super sample it to say 110%... Or is that soething else?

MasterCornholio4114d ago

Well its just a Lego game but it's additional evidence of the power differences between the two systems.

Kayant4114d ago (Edited 4114d ago )

Dat hidden dGPU is slowly awakening :p

MasterCornholio4114d ago

You know why they haven't found it yet?

Its because no one cracked open the power brick yet.

Kayant4114d ago (Edited 4114d ago )

Looool I remember than man those crazy times with Elitegamer24 iirc sending those PMs.

OT - Having not seen the frame-rate analysis yet. Are both X1 & PS4 effectively at 30fps most of the time?

If so they really should have pushed for 60fps IMO especially with the PS4 having some extra resources as highlighted here. It could almost be a TR repeat here but it will be much closer this time as this doesn't seem as demanding as TR.

@aceitman

I know I was joking. How people still believe that is pretty sad.

aceitman4114d ago

@kayant trust me when I say if there was a hidden gpu in x1 it would have been found by now by some hacker and sure nuff it would have blown up the internet, but it didn't so there is no hidden gpu.

imt5584114d ago (Edited 4114d ago )

Well, well... What do we have here? 1280p on PS4.:-D

1920*1280 to 1920*1080 on PS4

DOWNGRADE!!! :-)
