this was bound to happen. This is why none of the three have released in China as well.

thewhoopimen5818d ago

Ahem major correction... The PS3 is available in Hong Kong which since 1997 has been part of China.

thewhoopimen5817d ago

Will someone who gave me a disagree with my last post give me a reason? Are you just being obstinate or simply retarded? There is an HK PSN store btw...go check it out yourself.

cmrbe5817d ago

if you didn't know. The British Empire has reformed and leased HK again for another 99 years hehe. You are correct but don't mind young people on this site.

Ogrekiller5817d ago

however, HK does operate with a fairly high degree of self jurisdiction- one country, two systems.
Lets not forget Taiwan as well.

Isn't it countries like these that are still warming up and embracing to the ps2 and in turn giving it its long life span?

conjurdevil5818d ago

I am in india people are preffering ps3 over xbox 360!!! and some are importing Wii too I have a Wii and a ps3 myself because over here 60% of population has upgraded to hdtv's and RROD is killing 360's rep plus customer service cant get any lower some would tell you they cant fix it some would say it would take months n some wont even answer whereas sony is delievering on all those fronts.

tweaker5818d ago (Edited 5818d ago )

India are pretty up-to-date with current technology these days. I've been there for 2 weeks to attend a seminar. I'm sure the PS2 still sells there because it is a good bang for the buck for casual and new gamers.

ShiftyLookingCow5818d ago

India is extremely hot at times, so you can imagine there are easily going to be a lot of RROD's.

SPARTAAN5818d ago (Edited 5818d ago )

the problem is people buy the consoles from the grey market because of the insane taxes, we generally end up paying twice as much as other countries,if we buy it officially. many people buy the games at play-asia.com or get them from the grey market as most of the games are released very late and they again cost a lot more than the rest of the world.

edit: and the reason for the high sales of the ps2 is because console gaming started picking up recently and the best way to start it is to buy a ps2 which is very cheap and also has one of best games of all time(most important factor is the availability of pirated games)

Richdad5818d ago

Piracy in India is nothing compared to that of PS2. Many of the grey marketers dont keep 360 since they are PS fans. MS is getting the proiduct our of the market thats correct but also one fact is that PS2 was offically launched in 2004 in India and it was visible even in villages from 2001. Actually most consoles are also exported since in India 360 cost 28K i.e near abt 450$ for premium and when exported from Europe the Europeans delaer give it premoded at half of the price stated.
RROD also killed a lot of sales since a soon as modding started grey marketers strated modding the console and many crapped out and many loser loosed it there were a few private reapir shop in select few city though.

SPARTAAN5818d ago (Edited 5818d ago )

28k Rs = 700$

and the ps3(40gb) costs 25k(around 600$)

Richdad5818d ago

you are right abt the price that why even PS3 sold are exported since they are much cheaper to do so. 360 price was lower than that but there was price rise 2 days ago.

iv lived in pakistan for 9 years(pakistan/india are pretty much the same) and i can safely say that people there are not up to date... 60% of the population that live in houses may own HDTVs it but only 10% of the total population can afford to live in a proper house. It's a sad fact

Store owners there well how do i phrase this, they dont want your business, they just want your money.

Piracy there is big but there is no other option for the people living there. Ps3 is about 100 or 200 dollars more expensive there and they've got old games, nothin new(last time i visited)
I saw a wall of 360 and wii games plus the store owners happy enough to sell us modded consoles.

One cool thing you can do there, is go up to any shop, tell them u bought a game from them that didnt work on ur system and they'll exchange it. To them, it's a free game.

My friend got his psp modded, the works(pandora battery, latest firmware, lol it was even downgraded from the latest firmware), plus a 4 gb harddrive for around 3-5 thousand rupees which is 30 bucks.

and soon its gonna b a ps3/wii World!!! PS3FTW WOOT WOOT

Bleucrunch5818d ago

fine by me. I love india anyway. The IT capital of the world, when these guys comment on technology we ALL must listen they know what they are talkin about.

PoSTedUP5817d ago

its always been sony / nintendo since n64 and ps1...nothings changed....even when the reg. x box came out. thats why its not still alive today....cause they competing with the best!>!.

Fishy Fingers5818d ago

Makes sense, if your not producing a profit, why continue?

As MS are unwilling to share sales figures (which must be a first from them) they're obviously very poor numbers, the POS (Point of Sale) alone is probably costing them more than they're making.

I never got around to mass effect - I’m skeptical that it would hold up if I were to try it now

Furesis3h ago

I would say it does. The combat is a bit shit for todays standards but everything else is great.

It's worth a play through today.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron - Coming Back for a New Generation

Originally launched in 2011, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is coming to Nintendo Switch, so It's time to look back at the original.

jznrpg22h ago

Still have my ps3 copies. Bought it at launch and another one when I found it cheap and in perfect condition about 10 years ago. I wouldn’t buy it on Switch but if they made a PS5 version I would. I still have one of my PS3 Fats hooked up so good to go either way.

darthv7221h ago

Id play it again on the switch. I wished my 360 version was bc but this is still a good way to play.

Fallout 3's Reveal Led To Death Threats And Bethesda's First Security Guard

The artist behind Fallout 4’s Deathclaw reveals just how bad things got back when Bethesda took over the series

anast23h ago

People are stupid I get it. No one should feel unsafe,

But I think they need to talk about why they cut so many corners during the development process and why none of their games ever look current. And why they think all of this is okay while they charge full price.

LucasRuinedChildhood23h ago

As much as Bethesda deserve criticism, that's not really relevant to the reveal of Fallout 3 in 2007.

VenomUK20h ago

The default angle Kotaku always go for is to highlight the worst in gaming.

I would’ve focused on the creative.

anast2h ago

The game went downhill at Fallout 3's release. This is when they started to cut corners.

gold_drake19h ago

there is no "but". the hell lol
you dont send death threats, period.

anast1h ago

Usually, you have good comments but this isn't one of them. It just rides the mob. We can do both condemn the actions and not let them use it for other things.

I can say I received a death threat and everyone needs to shut up. People are not honest and will use horrible things to their advantage.

Armaggedon14h ago

Not all games “look” current.

anast1h ago

Their games always look like the gen before it.
