'EA Sports UFC' new screenshots put you right in the ring

EA Sports UFC is the latest and the greatest game from EA Sports that is made to allow you to feel as though you are right in the middle of the action. On Friday, a new set of screenshots were released by EA Sports that show just how realistic their new next generation UFC game actually is.

This is not a dupe because it is an actual story along with quite a few pics the first posting on here didn't include

Isn't it about time they stop showing off how good the models look and show us some actual gameplay footage to get excited about? Maybe they have and I missed it but so far it just seems like a whole lot of hype with no substance.

NBA Live 14 tricks. Hold off on gameplay until the final weeks or so to finally show it off.

MMA is such a hard sport to accurately replicate in a game, I wouldn't be surprised if it did turn into another NBA Live especially with it being EA, they'll pull out all the stops to try and salvage whatever state the game is in.

True. THQ did what they could, they came out okay. I'd probably just play a demo of the game instead of shelling out $60 for the game. With EAs track record of sports game I'd be reluctant to spend anything (along with them holding off fighters just so you buy them via microtransactions.) They're using the new Ignite engine that was utilized on NBA Live 14 as well and we've already seen how that performed.

It won't turn to NBA live. There's no competition on the other end. EA did a mma game before, it was a really good game in terms of gameplay. Now that they got the UFC license, this shouldn't be short of a great game.

I'm worried about this game. Its set to release in spring (May, i assume) and they haven't released any substantial gameplay. The one trailer showed a very short clip of Jon Jones knocking Chael Sonnen down. But, other than that, we've just got screenshots and Mo-capped gameplay (ring entrees).

UFC undisputed had a terrible online, but the gameplay was excellent. I'm pretty sure this game is going to be a turd unless they delay it. But, we all know that delaying a game is something EA does NOT do.

I have a strong feeling that this will be another broken game EA rushed out.

Anybody play these games?

Angeljuice1680d ago (Edited 1680d ago )

I much prefer boxing games but if there aren't any available I'll pick up an MMA title. I think a good fighting game is a must for me on any platform.

A decent boxing game is an absolute must for me, I'd rather have one than any other genre if I'm honest (they have great replay value and are really good for local multiplayer match-ups with friends).

As with all good sports games, the replay value can be hundreds of times that of a story driven game (in my experience), It's just a pity that most big sports games announced so far for PS4 are based on naff American sports (some exceptions such as FIFA of course).

The pics in the article may be very good, but they're not photorealistic (you don't look at them and wonder if they're in-game images or photographs).

I do, I loved the THQ UFC games. And while EA MMA looked better it played horribly. The sliding across the ring and the wide punches, the button-pressed transitions, that game was just awful to play.

Hopefully they find a nice medium for gameplay mechanics, looks wise it's already spectacular and one of the games I looked forward to with the next-gen consoles.

How about the gamesplay all the previous ones have been stiff and slow is this one the same or have they improved it?

famoussasjohn1680d ago (Edited 1680d ago )

EA got the rights from THQ after they went under. It's on a new engine so it's still hard to tell how it will perform since all they've shown is screen shots along with in-game engine and now actual gameplay.

MMA as a video game is so much worse than boxing. The grapple system is always lame. Its virtually impossible to translate it well to a game. I hate that MMA is more popular these days. Makes me have to wait longer for a new Fight Night. :-(

...that said, day 1. :-(
