OPM’s PS4 “Series of Massive Significance” Teased Last Month Isn’t What Most Expected

Last month’s issue of Official PlayStation Magazine UK teased a “series of massive significance” to be “finally confirmed” on the PS4 on this month’s issue, and the first copies are already in the hands of readers, confirming what the tease was all about.

What's that? Another case of hype not delivering what it teased? No!

Abriael4117d ago (Edited 4117d ago )

This time I would say it goes a bit beyond the usual hyping. It's true that they didn't technically lie, but goodness. I expected at least something exclusive to the mag.

GarrusVakarian4117d ago (Edited 4117d ago )

What a let down.....i genuinely thought it was going to be either Crash, or GTA5 for PS4.

But no....it's something we knew about almost 2 weeks ago. Good job hyping us up for nothing, OMP.

abzdine4117d ago

You do the same in most your headlines and everytime i click i feel let down the same way.

on topic: i could feel it will be Arkham Knight i didn't get hyped since.

joab7774117d ago

I do agree that for them it was huge. I wonder if they knew they were gonna get upstaged by a week or so.

UltimateMaster4117d ago (Edited 4117d ago )

It's to sell magazines.
They need hype.
Otherwise, they just close it like they did in the US.
What else is new about stuff that's hyped.

christian hour4117d ago (Edited 4117d ago )

You guys think you had it bad? I was expecting Vib Ribbon 2. My life is over :'(

i was hunting this story down to try and find out what it was was , then it suddenly occured to me after arkham knight was debuted. although i am REALLY looking forward to it myself and alot of other gamers thought it would have been shenmue 3... ahwell

Mr Pumblechook4117d ago (Edited 4117d ago )

OPM were right that Arkham is a massive series, but their cover comes two weeks too late after the info splurge.

The problem they have is that Game Informer is able to get all the exclusive reveals on account that their owner Gamestop can offer extra in-store promotions of the game, and there is no other mag that can compete with that. OPM previously complained about having to drop their reveal of an older Assassin's Creed game because their publisher got a better offer.

Dark114117d ago

people expect another Crash or shenmue from sony so of course they will be disappointed.

Let them dream.

Evilsnuggle4117d ago (Edited 4117d ago )

I hoped for Demon's Soul's or SOSCOM , warhawk . Legend of dragoon

sprinterboy4117d ago

@godmars

That's why magazines are crap, they wonder why people don't buy mags with Internet gaming sites readily available. In fact who buys any kind of mag these days lol.

Godmars2904117d ago (Edited 4117d ago )

No, this is why game marketing has become a joke. Why after what happened with Aliens: Colonial Marines MS and Sony have their own "bait and switch" incidents. MS with Titanfall and now I hear Infamous: SS is having some graphics controversy.

Come to think of it they've had them before then and didn't change anything.

Palitera4117d ago

Actually, the joke is on the stupid people who still believe games marketing.

Seriously, these schemes are making even my country politicians seem honest already.

Hozi894117d ago

Legend of Dragoon!!!!

Pocker4117d ago

Timmey4117d ago

i hoped for shenmue so desperate that i am pretty dissapoint right now, arkham knights cool though

poboy9934117d ago

Shenmue would have been nice, loved the first 2. It needs a real ending. I hope one day Sega comes through but I have low expectations for it.

Edvin19844117d ago

I hope its more Indie games no one plays. All don't have to be triple A, but sick and tired of this Indie push. I love my big budget games, and I keep buying them all as long as you make good ones.

PrinceOfAllSaiyans4117d ago (Edited 4117d ago )

@Edvin Yes Sony really needs to talk about their Triple A exclusives. But they don't. Its making me mad.

OT: I remember telling people to make their expectations low because its just arkham City which will be a good game.

Edvin19844114d ago

I agree, indie games are fun and all...but give me some Agent lol...or The Last Gurdian haha.... seriously that would be a surprise.

dcj05244117d ago

I love good indie games if their good. I Don't discriminate.

Edvin19844114d ago

No don't discriminate, but all we hear from Sony 8 Indies on E3 floor, and indie this indie that. Yeah, I get it cheap to make and easy to pump out. I enjoy the Limbo, Bastion, Braid, etc I bought them all just want some PS4 either exclusive or something new like the new Batman game.

Tedakin4117d ago

Well that's a letdown....

I would also add Risk of Rain 2 as long as you don't stray too far from a power source as each run can be long as the hours melt away. Another thing to note is that based on the reports, the FPS may drop into the 40s if a lot of enemies are on the screen.

There is also the Half Life series. If you haven't played half-life before then you can do so now at the super low price.

cthulhucultist201d ago

Mafia was amazing looking and had a great story. Played flawlessly at 30fps as well without dips 99% of the time.

The same is true for Jedi Fallen Order

Sony games as also on sale. Picked up Rachet and Clank, cant wait to try it!
