Japan Might Have to Wait Until November for the Xbox One

The release date of the Xbox One in Japan is still a mystery, alongside many other countries, but there might now be a hint on how long gamers in the archipelago of the Rising Sun might have to wait for Microsoft’s new console. And other "tier 2" countries might have to wait just as long.

MS should get out of Japan and use all the money they would invest there to support/open first party studios.
Everybody knows that MS won't do good in Japan

I think they'd probably consider it as admitting defeat this generation if they didn't release in Japan. Damned if they do, damned if they don't...

Fanboys may make fun of MS for a few weeks but then everything will be forgotten, I don't think it would mean admitting defeat, this gen just started

@raWfodog. Yeah, agreed.

If MS don't launch in Japan then they risk some of the more niche Japanese developers not bothering with the console - which in turn means those games don't get a Western localisation.

One of the things I like about PlayStation is that company's like NIS support the localisation of niche titles in the West. I can't imagine not playing Persona, Disgaea, Valkyria Chronicles and even more obscure stuff. (Would probably have to learn to read Japanese and buy imports :) )

Have faith my good man. Havent you heard the phrase: "3rd time is the charm".

Ahh who am I kidding.

But the third console is cursed, remember?

I doubt highly that the console market, in general, in Japan is waiting on the XB1. In all likelihood, they'd be just fine without it, period. They've got their Sony and Nintendo, God's in His Heaven, all's right with the world.

Seriously, though, this is the problem the Xbox brand has, anyway. They just don't have the brand strength or recognition that Nintendo and Sony have on a worldwide level. That's why 13 vs. 57 is irrelevant: if the Xbox One were to have launched in those other countries, it MIGHT have added a million consoles, if that.

MS will do poor in Japan but tbh I'd rather they tried hard to win the Japanese public over. A fair few quality games came about thanks to their push with the 360 in Japan.

What I find weird is that Microsoft stated that "they" are producing (manufacturing) as many xbox ones as ps4's correct? So seeing that the PS4 is outnumbering the xbox one close to a 2:1 in sales... you'd think that Microsoft would gather all of the warehouse xbox ones and ship them to Japan, I mean it's not like they are going to sell 300k - a million of them in Japan anyways. SMH

MS wants to be ''Big in Japan'' hahaha!

I don't think more than 3 gamers in Japan are eagerly waiting for the Xbox One. Even the Wii U isn't selling as good as it should in Japan. MS has no chance there.

Your being too generous!

Japanese folk are far to intelligent to use up a large portion of their living space to an exbone feck up their feng shui with it!

djplonker1684d ago

Wow I bet they are counting down the days...

StealthPandemic1684d ago

Fking release in other country you idiots!!

TomahawkX1684d ago

pretty risky move considering the state of consoles in Japan. Not even Mario can sell a Wii U.
