CD Projekt Red Delays The Witcher 3, and Why That's Okay

8CN: CD Projekt Red, the Polish developers behind the hit games The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings have announced that the release date for The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt has been delayed until February, 2015. Some people might be upset about having to wait longer, but let me explain why this is a good thing.

The story is too old to be commented.

Delaying is bad, but rushing is worse

Yup. I personally would rather see a game delayed than get an unfinished product.

I agree and I trust these guys implicitly. Its my most anticipated game.

That being said, I do believe that there is more going on and it has nothing to do with quality. It has to do with timing.

There are two things that will happen between the expected release of November, and February. First, no CoD, Assassins Creed, Destiny, Dragon Age etc...the holiday push. Second, Christmas and taxes will come and many, many more consoles will b sold. The base may be as high as 20-25 million by then.

This is extremely important for a next gen only title that I imagine is costing alot of money. And I have no problem with it b/c these guys are the real deal...and I cant wait.

The delay is ok, because we have no say in the matter and no choice. But I must say I wish some of these companies had more to deliver a bit sooner for ps4/xbone. I just hope when games like The Order:1886, Batman Arkham Knight, The Division, Uncharted and The Witcher 3 launch (to name a few), they live up to what we thought they could and should be, and don't turn out to be disappointments. First up in that line for me is Infamous Second Son. Can't wait to play it and I'm hoping it's astoundingly great.

If there's one developer I trust, it's these guys.

I'm secretly glad it got delayed, it's my final year of school so now I'll have one less distraction. :P But also it's much better to delay a game so it can be as good as possible. Looking forward to playing it.

Delayed + extra polish = downgraded game

I'm kind of being sarcastic, i'm only going by Ubisofts way of doing things, I sooooo hope it doesn't apply to The Witcher 3

Looks like I won't be buying a PS4 until 2015

elhebbo161681d ago

if you're going to buy a PS4 just for this game I recommend you save a little bit more and get an appropriate gaming PC. it will be worth it.

kcuthbertson1681d ago

A "little" bit more money won't be worth it. If you're going to play this on PC over PS4 then you're going to want a graphics card that's at least as much as a PS4..

Now, that said..I love my PC and I think it's well worth it, but a $500 - $700 gaming PC probably won't get you any better performance than a PS4 will. If you really wanna see this game outshine its console counterpart, I'd say you're going to need to drop at least $1000 on a nice rig.

I have a gtx 580 and I'll even be upgrading for this game.

elhebbo161681d ago (Edited 1681d ago )

@kcuthbertson what? yes you WILL get a better performance with a $500-700 build. chances are the PS4 version wont be 1080p and 60fps at the same time, at least with a gaming PC you can customize the settings to get both. a fx-6300/760 rig can be build with a $500-700 budget and it would do exponentialy better than a PS4. and just to prove my point the devs said the PC is the platform to get the game.

From another prespective, if the fellow wants to get into the Witcher series, PC is the platform to go by. not only are both the first and second title on PC but you can get them dirt cheap on GOG or steam sales.

ajkula1681d ago

How about he might've meant he wants a ps4 anyway but just waiting for a specific trigger???
Not everyone wants to get bothered by winblows!!
And ps4 exclusives are ps4 exclusive so what if he wanted to plays these too?

Hellsvacancy1681d ago (Edited 1681d ago )

I can't be doing with all the tech-jargon that comes with PC gaming, too complicated for me learning specs etc, i'm happy playing Populous The Beginning and on my laptop, I like GOOD graphics but I can settle for good enough graphics

I do want a PS4, if Dark Souls 2 is announced for the PS4 i'll buy one in a heartbeat, The Witccher 3, Fallout 4, Ni No Kuni 2 is what I want

Edit: I meant to add Destiny

Too bad. I was really looking forward to it this year but I hope the delay means good things for the game.
