Agree agree agree....I agree 100%!!! DK Country 2 is the best of all!!! Though, DKC 3 was much better than Returns....

robparko4080d ago

I've always found that one to be a little odd. Though, I can definitely see its appeal and think it's an awesome game.

MusashiBlack4080d ago

I also agree. The music on DKC2 was spot on.

robparko4080d ago

DKC2 does have awesome music. Definitely much better than the first game.

gpturbo814079d ago (Edited 4079d ago )

i really liked the different vehicles in 3, and the fact you could explore a little more. as opposed to going just level to level. 2 was probably the best one though.

Geobros4079d ago

Exactly!!! I could speak hours for DKC 3 and why I believe was better than first DKC. Ok, it was released at the end of Snes era, few months after N64 console releasing. Also, all tried to compare this game with his predecessor (DKC 2), maybe the best 2D platform game of all time.

For me, it had better graphics and the sidequests with the bears were more interesting!! Ok, the music was worse but the level of music of DKC 2 is really so so high.

For me, its a pity that not many gamers remember or admire that epic game.....

DKC2, DKC, DK64, DKC3, DKC:TF, DKCR

All great games, but the new ones aren't as good.

I'm counting 64 because it's in the same universe.

Captain Qwark 94079d ago

i like....
DK2
DK3
DK
DKR
havent played tropical freeze yet, will when i eventually get a wii u

Tzuno4079d ago (Edited 4079d ago )

old dk's are the best the new ones are just lame. dk 2 for life.

Loadedklip4079d ago (Edited 4079d ago )

My list ...

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Donkey Kong Country 3
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (This is were it places if counted)
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong 64 (This is were it places if counted)

I think Jungle Beat is vastly overlooked ... it was super creative and brilliant.

Donkey Kong 64 was a good game that did too much focus on collecting which ruins the experience. Less would have been better in this case.

30 Years Ago, Sega Took Its Biggest Gamble With Saturn And Failed

The Dreamcast was the biggest gamble and way ahead of its time.

OtterX19h ago

I wish we lived in the Alternate Timeline where Sega was still a dominant force in the console space and it hadn't been Microsoft.

Saturn was a fantastic piece of kit... they just went a little too ambitious with its dual CPU setup. which turned a lot of developers off (at the time). The homebrew community have done some amazing work many years later, thanks to multichip experience. It is still the best platform for arcade fighters and shmups of all time. Dreamcast is a close 2nd though.

Profchaos6h ago

Yeah it was a interesting decision especially when looking at how dual CPU is considered a root cause of why the Jaguar was a failure.

Also the hardware rendered four sided polygons where the standard was three if they kept with triangle polygons I feel the systems development would have been easier to work with and we would have seen more third party ports in the west.

I think it was a victim of its time more than anything it saw huge success in Japan but the leadership and internal turmoil in the west meant games were not getting localised along with a focus on arcade like games were the PlayStation and later the N64 were pushing more in depth experiences over coin munching high score driven games.

I still enjoy my Saturn it was the first console I mowed lawns for and saved up for to purchase. I went so far as to purchase a used Saturn to run off an SD card. I even have a second Dreamcast modded to run off an SD card as well.

Why Dark Souls 2 Deserves a Second Chance in 2025

As difficult and frustrating as it is, people should consider reliving the Dark Souls 2 experience, especially because of what's coming to the game.

Many of those who hate Dark Souls II hate it because it's not Dark Souls. The same people love Dark Souls III because it isn't Dark Souls II.

And so many of the issues at the centre of common complaints about DS2 are present in DS3 and sometimes even DS1. The hatred and bile spewed over this perfectly decent game is ludicrous.

CrimsonWing691d 14h ago

I don’t think it’s a terrible game, but like a movie sequel by a different director, for me, it does NOT capture any of the “magic” felt from the Miyazaki entries. Boss battles don’t feel epic, environments don’t have the same sense of awe, the enemy variety isn’t particularly interesting, the art direction just feels bland, about the only thing I can give it praise for is some of the music.

Now, again, this is only how I feel about it, so I’m not trying to invalidate his you feel about the game, but it is the worst entry in the series due to those factors and it’s the least re-visited entry, for me.

Is it decent as a game on its own? Sure. But in comparison to the Miyazaki entries, it does not stack up and I believe that’s where many were disappointed with it.

PrimeVinister1d 11h ago

Completely fair. I cannot disagree either, mate.

MrWood1d 13h ago (Edited 1d 13h ago )

You can also play it in VR flawlessly on PC & controller with the LukeRoss mod so… another reason to jump back in with extra immersion.

jznrpg1d 13h ago

It’s not a bad game it’s just not as good as the others

Shadow Man1d ago

The controls felt very clunky to me, I tried playing it after beating Darksouls 3 and it didn’t feel fluid, obviously the hit detection is less superior for been an older game.

Six Times When Games Turned Into A Horror Game

Immediately thought of the El Dorado zombie dudes in Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

raWfodog5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

Not necessarily a ‘horror’ moment, but I remember feeling really tense and anxious when the Flood were first introduced in the original Halo. I never felt more on edge or nervous in that whole game as that moment. I think it was the whole buildup that something terrible was coming but you didn’t know exactly what.

Another non-horror game that had me feeling it was Subnautica. The deep dark depths, and knowing that sea monsters were lurking nearby, had me jumping at every sound.

NettosGameRoom4d ago

That scene where you first see them attack is pretty crazy!

Relientk774d ago

I remember being scared of the Asylum level in the most recent Thief game from 2014.
