PS3 Outsells 360 by 45% in Q1 in Australia

With Sony Europe's recent revelation that the PlayStation 3 had outsold the Xbox 360 in Europe, PALGN posed the question to Michael Ephraim whether the PlayStation 3 has eclipsed the sales of the Xbox 360 in Australia?

ps3 with the bravia deal.

and yeah a lot of people her in Australia who have PS2's are looking to get a PS3 soon, more around the end of the year though.

but there are a LOT and i mean a LOT of teenagers who have xbox 360's here, most that own a console own a 360.

but the PS3 is starting to be seen as not only a mature gamers console but a teen one 2.

LenHart5813d ago (Edited 5813d ago )

I was very dubious when i saw their numbers

I mean there is no way PS3 WOULD NOT OUTSELL X360 2:1 or more in EUROPE

Europe is just too pro-sony and ps3

"
Michael also added a little more information on the sales of the PlayStation 3. "I can tell you in the first quarter of 2008 we have outsold Xbox 360 by around 45%. That is not including the Bravia deal, which moved through around 30,000 units, so if you add the Bravia deal to our global sales we have now, in the first quarter of 2008 we have outsold the Xbox 360 by two to one. "

OOOO EPIC truely EPIC

Salutations to a fellow Aussie!

Hmm I jumped the ps3 purchased before they announced the BRAVIA deal. I was a unhappy chap for a while. But none the less, a good purchase since I ended up buying a Projector ^^. I dont watch TV, and only play the odd game and watch an odd movie. So it was the perfect combo. For me that is.

YAY FOR SONY!!!!!

im trying to get more people in Australia to get a PS3.

ive had 4 xbox 360's so i gave up on Microsoft.

I LOVEEEE SOOONNNYYYY!!!!

HateBoy5813d ago (Edited 5813d ago )

Yeah, pretty much everyone I know who is interested in video games here in Sweden and in other places around Europe are planning to get a ps3, none 360. Granted, some of them already have a 360, but most don't and they don't know it exists. PS truly is king in Europe, the brand is incredibly well-known and trusted, unlike MS which seems to cause suspicion no matter what they do around here.

When it comes to worldwide success. Sony has gained a strong advantage over the sharply declining Xbox 360. Across the globe, it's becoming clear that consumers are looking for long term success and long term reliability. Only Sony PLAYSTATION®3 gives you the complete experience you need for 10 years and more.

Since 1995, consumers have placed their trust in the PlayStation brand and we've rewarded them with nothing but the best in software and superior, reliably hardware. Thank you Sony Snipers for placing your trust in the PlayStation Brand to be your premiere household console.

Why compete only in the United States when you can have the world? From a global standpoint, consumers have already jumped out, are you next?

Playstation 3 is ruling the World, despite of the lies of MS, trying to throw sand to the eyes of Gamers!!! Contrary to some dumb@sses xbots and brainwashed Ms employees, the truth is PS3 is outselling sh*tbox360 in every continent of the World, even in the only sh*tbox360 reduct, the US, slowly the PS3 will dominate that country too!!!! That's the more terrific fear of the xbutts, that's because they will do everything they can to bash any new release for the PS3...take attention to MGS4 launch...a lot of lies made up for the MS automated employes and Xbutts will take the intenet by assault...

70 percent of devs unsure of live-service games sustainability

With so many games fighting for players' attention and interest losing out over time, time sink games are at risk of eventually losing steam.

It was worrisome to begin with.

It's a niche genre with only a handful of hits that can stand the test of time.

Cacabunga10h ago

I like the sound of that!! I will for sure never support these gaas games.
Sony must be shocked at gamer's reaction, making them cancel a few of these and hopefully go back to the good heavy hitters they had us used to..
now bring on that PSPro reveal and show us some SP 1st party awesomeness.

What’s to be unsure of!? Look at the ratio of success to failure!

DarXyde13h ago

It's pretty ridiculous.

Imagine having a breadth of data at your disposal to see the statistically low success rate of these games, only to be laser focused on the exceptional case studies.

shinoff21831d 5h ago

Yes. Stop all the live service bs.

jznrpg1d 4h ago

Only a few will catch on. You need a perfect storm to be successful in GaaS and a bit of luck on top of that. But a potential cash cow will keep them trying and some will go out of business because of it.

Helldivers 2 manages just fine…

Keep production costs low… don’t just make custscenes until the mechanics and enemies are perfected first.

Make so much content that you can drip extra content for years, and the game already feels complete without them.

Most importantly: make weapons, enemies, levels, and mechanics that will stand the test of 1000 hours. This might require more devs embracing procedurally generated leveled, which I think separates Helldivers 2 from Destiny’s repetitiveness.

The Battle Pass Is The Worst Thing To Happen To Modern Gaming

Nameer from eXputer: "Some exceptions aside, I don't think the battle pass is a net positive for gaming with how they're implemented in most live service titles."

got_dam1d 8h ago

Battle passes AND meta gaming both.

DivineHand1251d 7h ago (Edited 1d 7h ago )

I like the way Helldivers 2 does battle passes. It allows you to make purchases on each level of the battle pass and gives you the option of choosing which item to unlock first. The more purchases you make using medals the further you progress. There is no timer and you can earn medals towards purchasing stuff via personal orders and Major orders.

I haven't played much live service games that have battle passes but I remember some games that have battle passes where you progress through it linearly using an exp system. What makes it really bad is that the battle pass will have like 50 or more levels with the cooler stuff being closer to the end. They also have an in-game shop that sells exp boosters so you can reach the end of the pass before it refreshes. Everyone ilse will have to grind their way through.

lucian2291d 6h ago

battle pass in fortnite is perfect; buy one and it buys the rest for every other season as it gives you more money than the first cost. so 8.50 and season ends with you getting 13.00, it pays for the next and you have some pocket change to save up for cash shop. All of which is optional
