What I noticed is that most of those games are on PC too but I guess they still count as console exclusives.

The big guns on the list are Halo wars, splinter cell, ninja gaiden 2, Gears of war 2, and too human.

So...your going to get all of the games coming out for X360 AND PC on your PC? What percentage of people do you figure own a PC for Xbox 360 exclusives? They don't. PC gamers buy the best games coming to their platform. The reason why its called exclusive (Gears of War, Left for Dead, etc) is because Windows and Xbox are Microsoft platforms. It doesn't matter that the game is coming out on PC. I appreciate LIVE integration, achievements and 360 controller so the choice for me is clear. Also, I don't really understand the whole concept of owning a PS3 and top of the line PC for (Xbox ports) when you could simply purchase an Xbox to begin with. If your a hardcore PC gamer you prefer mouse and keyboard hands down and the experience of every PC/Xbox game is different (Mods for example. It is irritating that almost every comment on an Xbox thread is filled with biased ranting; last but not least, what is exclusive and what isn't. The point is, unless the game is NOT timed exclusive (Lost Planet, Bioshock, etc) and coming to the PS3, it IS exclusive to Xbox. This goes both ways. I could also argue that the Spy MMO coming to PS3 AND PC is NOT exclusive to PS3. That wouldn't be true though. Sorry for my rant but there needs to be a "definition" of exclusive somewhere for everyone to reference:-P

Halo War and Alan Wake dont have any official release dates yet so they havent been delayed. They could both be out in 08 or 09. Thats a impressive list either way and the reason why I think the 360 has the best games out of the 3 systems this year.

Im excited about GoW2 also. My favorite game of all time is Half Life 2, so you'd think I'd be excited about Left for Dead but it doesnt look all that interesting to me. All of the Splinter Cell games have been great games, don't just hop on the hating band-wagon cause it's the trendy thing to do.

This is where Quality outperforms quantity. The Xbox 360 has twice as many titles rated 80% and above compared to the Playstation 3. It just doesn't matter if some of those titles are on PC or not, console gamers play on consoles and I'd rather playing the best Xbox 360/PC games in my console than a lot of fully exclusive average games with some triple A among them, that, every day of the week.

Also remember that Microsoft supports both PC and console gamming, so it's logical to have those titles in both platforms. Think Bioshock, it was elected the best game of 2007 by many websites and until now you see tons of PS fans eagerly awaiting for a PS3 port. Does it matter that it's on PC when a game is THAT good? Absolutely NOT... and this works for the present year's lineup as well.

The only ones shown at Gamers Day were the titles 'published' by Microsoft. So there is a possibility that most, if not all of these games will be out in '08.

Microsoft stated also that certain games 'were not ready to show' at gamers day. Maybe they just didn't have a good demo put together yet.

And N4G, you never disappoint. Typical haters whining about 'I can get most of these games on PC.' Well then go ahead. Chances are most of you are lying and don't even have an up to date PC that can run these games.

Yes it was said to have been pushed back to 2009 by people with just as much information as you and I have. MS said long ago that they are not announcing games until they are ready to be released within the same year. If you read here it says nothing of a delay and suggests there will be much more news later this year. The PS3 has 3.2ghz 256mb of main memory and 700 mhz 256mb of dedicated graphics ram, while the 360 shares all its slower 700mhz ram between the CPU and GPU.
Lets look at this if these were PC's. Would a game run better on a PC with shared memory (low end PC or Laptop) or dedicated graphics memory like a mid to high end PC?

If both consoles had the minimum of 1gb of RAM (either Unified or split -with good reason- bewteen the processors), than we could see the REAL HD era. 360's 512mb GDDR3 + 10mb EDram will suffice for most of the games that we will see coming this gen.

PS3's choice of splitting the memory pool bewteen RSX and CellBE, and yet sharing the the task of rendering hinders it in that it should have unified as well. I mean, if you're going to tout CellBE/RSX as a COMBINED rendering setup, you should at least unify the memory, so that it gains INCREDIBLE flexibility. The PS3's OS has to reside in memory at all times, and not just in memory but in the XDR, since it's hardwire progammed (through the FlexIO) to be CellBE specific.

It's true that with PS3's split RAM, devs can still access both pools. But that will be a technique that would have been unnessecary, had there been a unified pool of XDR.

If we make fools ourselves in the process of trying to matchup each console lineup, I think we've ultimately defined what a lame fanboy is. Buy your games and play them, and keep out of other's business. What should I care if PS3 has got good games on it, if I have good games too. And the only opinion a PS3 gamer will ever have of the opposing console's offerings is "Hmmm, not as good as my console's games". but its as simple as this, if KZ2 was to be released on PC, then i would most definitely need to upgrade my POS to run it, spending a couple thousand on dual or quad cpu's, 2-4 gig memory, gpu's to run in sli and etc. etc.... makes no sense. i'd be better off buying a ps3 console.

i'd admit PC gamers should be considered the elite (because the spend a fortune) but also a dying breed (ex-pc gamer here) because most gamers as well as most developers are switching over to consoles.

for months now i've been hearing how 08 was going to be Sony's year, but the line-up seems evenly matched. Alot of diverse quality games from both.
If KZ2 was released this year, then that would be 2 big games for ps3 08 holiday, but as of now, the big showdown this year is without a doubt, ReFOM2 vs. Gears 2. (MGS4 comes out the fisrt half of the year)

LBP is a new IP and not guarenteed success just because Sony says so. (remember Lair)

Me want. So those PS3 fanboys saying there is sooooo much coming for the PS3. I can only see 3 really important games for this year:

MGS4, LBP and Resistance 2. Where LBP would be the only one I would want a PS3 for. Resistance 2 will be cut in two by Gears 2.

The other important games that were going to be the great 2008 for Sony, are delayed well into 2009, GT5, God of War III, KZ2. So actually I see the 360 having the stronger line up again for 2008.

Thesis looks promising as an adventure game but that trailer really sucked. The new Tales game would be incredible to the xbox community, it will definetly help in Japan. Infinite Undiscovery looks like another poor rendition of Kiddy Jrpg with lame dialogues all over it. Velvet's Assassin is intriguing though.

I wouldnt call these AAA games except Gears of Wars 2 with overrated NG2 and Fable 2. NG2 as well as Splinter Cell will flop in sales because of MGS4.

Thanks for the reply, but sequels are generally aimed for people who bought previous versions. Since MGS4 is an evolutionary sequel where new gameplay is generated from the previous versions, its quite different in comparison to NG and SC fans. In NG, the small niche of fans already have an expectation of playing the game relentless times because of the insane difficulty. MGS4 pioneered the stealth shooter genre so i dont see why people would choose SC over MGS4. All the MGS series has been benchmarking stealthshooter into new levels. All these series will push sales but MGS4 will predominatly assist console sales whereas NG and SC fans can expect nothing brand new in the franchise where the installbase is already there on XBOX360.

i dont see how you believe RTS PC games ported onto 360 can be called AAA titles when it has no originalty with Halo Wars delayed . Thesis and Velvet Assassin looks impressive from the trailers but we have no idea what the game is going to be. MGS4 pioneered the stealth shooter, but it hasn't done much for it recently.

Splinter cell has been doing a lot more from a multiplayer, AI, immersion, and interaction standpoint. MGS has been using the stealth genre as a backup to its good storyline.

The stealth in MGS isn't nearly as realistic or as "stealthy" as in SC. That's not to say the game is bad, the gameplay just doesn't hinge quite as dependently on the stealth side of the game.

A great line up of titles that won't move consoles. Existing 360 owners will eat these up, simply because it is all they have. Same for Wii owners and the games available for Wii. Same for PS3 owners. However, the PS3 has a software lineup that will sell consoles. The Wii will always sell. That market share will just get smaller and smaller. 2008 is the beginning of the end for the Xbox 360.

When you're not spouting off attach rates and solely focusing on the US, you ignore the amount of time it has taken Sony to knock the 360 out of the top spot in the EU, taking 2 of the 3 regions. Exactly. Every time again Sony is saying they will bring stuff but in the end... They dissapoint. For 2009 we don't know yet what Microsoft brings also. It could be (some not announced, but I expect them to show up) Halo 4, Halo Wars will release, Alan Wake, Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 2, Forza 3, PGR5, Kameo 2, Amped 4, etc. and ofcourse some new IP's. So thats a whole lot to fight the 'ghost' line up of Sony that gets delayed over and over again if you ask me.

i'm sure 360 will have a great line-up next year, with that HAlo project chronicles by peter jackson being hyped up more than Halo 3 leading the charge. And although Alan Wake and Halo Wars look great, one is still a new IP while the other is a RTS.
And i'm hoping Forza3 gets released next year,
BUT you do know the direct comparisons will make it out to look like 360's big racing game representing the 360 against GT5 representing PS3. And i don't know about you, but since everyone will be looking at the graphics, Forza seems like the underdog. We all know Forza has better gameplay, controls, customizations, and online community BUT everyone will still be basing their decisions by graphics.

either way, if PS3 gets god of war 3, gt5, ff, and KZ2 in 09 and all games live up to the hype, then its looking great for Sony next year... but this year could still go either way, and definitely isn't making me want to buy a ps3.

Don't forget exclusives from Mistwalker (Cry On) and Atlus (Spectral Force 3), and the multiplatform "The Last Remnant" from Square. Add Tales & Infinite Undiscovery and that makes a nice JRPG line up.

And on top of that the 360 will dominate the Western RPG genre with 10Tacle Studios (Elveon), Silicon Knights (Too Human), Lionhead (Fable 2), Ascaron (Sacred 2), Firefly (Dungeon Hero) and MMOs by RealTime Worlds (APB) and Webzen (Huxley). And that's before we get any news of what Bioware has planned with Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age.

The only reason I can get that many games is because I got a friend at Eb who gives me the hookups on all the games I buy. Yes this will probably mean that a lot of the "360 exclusive" games will come on PC too but thats good for 2 reasons.
1. MS will be dragging in even more cash from its games for windows meaning more money and developers focused on the 360 and PC as they are virtually identical to program for.
2 When we start to see more titles coming that are cross platform 3600/PC that work together I'll jump for joy. The amount of gaming PCs (able to run these games at some state) out there is millions which means titles such as AoC will have a massive install base and for a big online gamer like me is only a good thing,

The only games on this line up that look and play well is Gears of War 2, Too Human, and maybe Ninja Gaiden 2.

The list is great and will outperform the competition in sales of software again this year. So the sony fans may finally have some good titles on the way this year, I could care less because they all are nothing new and innovative thats for sure, FPS and a kiddie game.
