They had to remove a bunch of blood&gore to lower the game to being rated Teen, in order to appeal to a wider audience (after the difficulty turned so many people away, and the hardcore fans were furious when they considered an easy mode)

If it wasn't hard there be no point to call it dark souls. Wish it was coming to next gen tho since I no longer have my ps3
