GameTap could easily call Valkyria Chronicles either "X-Com with anime kids" or "Jagged Alliance made by the Japanese," but that wouldn't quite do the game justice. True, it's a turn-based tactical combat game like those two PC gaming classics, but it's made by a Japanese developer. However, it's not just a case of taking the turn-based gameplay and replacing Western space marines/mercenaries with doe-eyed anime kids--the developers are actually trying to add some interesting gameplay tweaks to the tactical formula.
