EnjoyUp today revealed via Twitter that development of the Wii U instalment of Abyss was complete.
EnjoyUp made unEpic, so they have my attention.
They published UnEpic, the game was developed by a guy named Francisco Téllez de Meneses.
^This They also published La Mulana on Wii.
unEpic was made a few years back by one guy; all EnjoyUp did was publish it-- they had nothing to do with "making" it. Considering how mediocre unEpic was, it might be good to consider the publisher had nothing to do with it. Unfortunately, Abyss is just a re-release of a DSi game that was also pretty lackluster-- it offers almost no challenge or difficulty from beginning to end, level design is deceptively shallow, and the game itself is worth no more than a handful of hours' play with no substantial replay value. It's not a bad game by any means, it's just pretty plain and simplistic throughout. A cheap price point will make it worth a go, by all means, while waiting for subjectively better games to come out in the next few months on Wii U (and there are a LOT of good-looking titles coming out soon). ...sorry for the wall of text. I've played through the original version already and kind of went on a rant, but I hope you appreciate my perspective.
To add to the conversation and not just be a big dickhead, Abyss was a neat game on the DSiWare service. Looks even better on Wii U. Count me interested.
