Cicero talks about how the $500 gaming console finally is coming out of beta after already being released to the masses.
It's possible you'll either be required to upgrade to the final version, or you won't be able to go online until then, or possibly not be able to play anything until you update. This is usually the case when running beta software.
The OP means it's rumoured that the XBO had a rushed launch to compete with the PS4, and this period before Titanfall's launch was a "beta test" to iron out all the bugs. Ex: New Twitch integration, Removing the sharpening filter on the upscaler, adjusting the XBO controller for Titanfall, etc.
I don't know what this article is talking about - Xbox One was beta tested in the future! On a serious note, I'm definitely looking forward to the March update.
Both the PS4 and Xbone are in beta, its what you get when you purchase an electronic on day one. PS4's OS is stronger but these DL times are ridiculous...
No. Its what you get for buying *these* devices day one when the strong-suit of both is based on online support.
Nifty, I'll have an improved Xbox One to look forward too once I get my Titanfall Bundle.
Lol that's my way of thinking.. hearing some of the changes coming reinforces my belief that I made the right decision not being an early adopter.
Yup. As my father always said, "Never be the first in, or the last out." as applied to one's journey as a consumer. By the time I get one mid year or even down towards the holidays, a good bit of the launch kinks would've been smoothed out, a library would've been established and the experience on our Xbones will be smooth and pleasant.
Weird. I jump into all the 'betas' I can get my hands on :) Games, hardware, services etc. Sure, many are 'free' betas but I got plenty of use during this 3 month beta period lol. It's a separate issue why Microsoft, already having the 360 for 8 years, was still 3 months behind on so much stuff. Even for the "TV TV TV" stuff, I heard that April will be the month that more of that comes online.
I actually agree with this and I'm a huge Xbox fan. The system was missing so much stuff at launch, and the way they arranged things was kind of baffling. I have the March update already, and that combined with the February one makes the dashboard and interface perfect. Get Twitch streaming in and it's what it should have been day 1. The only thing missing now is friend notifications and that's coming in a month according to Whitten.
Does anyone know if the Sony Gold headset will work with the Microsoft adapter?
With xbox they are always improving the interface just like the 360, with sony what you see now is how it will look at the end minus a few things
I guess that can be good or bad though. I loved the xmb just wished it was faster. The 360 went through multiple dashboard updates which were new and exciting at the time but also sorta frustrating to relearn.
Sure if by "improving" you mean adding in more ads, and by "minus a few things" you're talking about reduction to the memory footprint of the OS.
I'm so tired of people talking about ads on the 360. There was a minimum of one advert on 3 out of the five Windows. And those small tiny boxes...only had sound of you highlighted it. Then on top of that the ads were game related tire ins.
Thanks everyone for reading & commenting on the article! I too am part of the early release update & the OS/user experience is MUCH better now. As for friend notifications, I don't want them. Maybe favorites notifications but with the potential for 1000 friends you'd be absolutely inundated with notifications. If it's just favorites you have some control over how many of those notifications you'd receive.
