Infamous: Second Son the Best Looking PS4 Game Yet [FanBolt]

Francis Flisiuk writes:
The Washington state based studio Sucker Punch is gearing up for the worldwide release (March 21st) of what may be the most anticipated PS4 exclusive title of this year: the third person mutant-superhero-action game, Infamous Second Son. Second Son takes place in a new location, Seattle, seven years after the tumultuous events of the previous game, Infamous 2. It features a new city, new powers, a new hero, but at its core it plays just like an Infamous game.

Agreed I really cant wait to see how Seattle looks. Keep in mind this looks AMAZING to be an open world game. Well done job.

Don't get me wrong, Infamous SS looks great....and not even "for an open world game"....it looks great in a general sense.

...But The Order 1886 is by far the best looking PS4 game so far.

chrissx3707d ago (Edited 3707d ago )

I wouldn't call it the best, more like 1 of the best looking considering how amazing the order 1886 looks

mochachino3707d ago

Great, I care a lot more about how it plays. They better not Killzone it with the AI.

LOGICWINS3707d ago (Edited 3707d ago )

Same here. I care more about gameplay too. But this article is about looks and the game looks great. I too hope Shadowfalls A.I. is never present in ANY game ever again. This morning I was playing the section where u control the ATAC (my favorite moment in the game) and its clear GG put as many enemies on screen as possible to try to mask their individual faults.

So u can get a sense of how important graphics are to me, the first hour Ive played of Outlast was more engrossing than Shadowfalls campaign as a whole...and it doesnt look nearly as good as Shadowfall. Too many devs forget the importance of solid sound mixing/editing in creating the mood for a game.

Infamous 1 and 2 were great, but the side missions were repetitive as hell. Less so in Infamous 2, but still a glaring issue.

Repetitiveness in an open world game pisses me off. Its why Ive taken a huge break from Black Flag despite enjoying it for the most part.

mochachino3707d ago (Edited 3707d ago )

Totally agree, I still feel so far PS4 has the better exclusives (yes, I'd much rather play Outlast and Resogun than Ryse, Forza, or DR3 - although Forza is probably good, just don't like racing games) but yeah, gameplay is necessary for a game to be enjoyable - graphics/sound can turn a good game an incredible experience and add greatly to immersion bringing an 8 game into a 10.

In other words an 8 in gameplay where the graphics are decent and runs well is probably and 8/10 game. However, that gameplay would require the technology capable of creating it and hence the need for graphical power. Red Dead Redemption would never work on PS1 or even PS2 (physics, animation, gunplay, euphoria wouldn't work as well or at all) and the gameplay of riding the horse wouldn't be convincing on flat/ blurry landscapes with loading every 10 minutes.

But a 10 in graphics can still be a 1/10 game.

Devs should lock down gameplay first, have good enough graphics then spend any remaining time adding all the extra graphical touches. Killzone was clearly graphics first approach but Sony was probably behind them to create something pretty to show off. Wrong approach imo, if they developed the new gameplay features and actually nailed them down, the game could have been great, more akin to a mix of Halo and Far Cry 3.

I'm a PS4 owner but Titanfall has the correct approach of emphasizing new game mechanics. It's generated a lot of excitement despite having very plain graphics.

Sell gameplay not graphics, Sony want's to appeal to the core gamer, guaranteed the core gamer is first and foremost looking for new gameplay experiences with next-gen.

I bet all ps4 exclusives will look great

Father__Merrin3707d ago

Ryse still towers above all, nothing can beat it. Crytec FTW

DigitalRaptor3707d ago (Edited 3707d ago )

This again?

Ryse only looks better in its facial detail and animations, and has environments that are mostly enclosed and corridor in nature. Everything else was taken by Killzone Shadow Fall, and when you consider that Second Son is an open-world game with a superb LOD, fantastic animations, particle effects, weather, day and night, destruction, and everything else going on, it still looks better than Ryse.

The Order: 1886 (in its Alpha stages) already looks better than Ryse.

100%, locked 60fps and still look great all these years later, same with the expansion, definitely worth a look if people haven't played it yet, not the best games ever made but a good experience, hopefully a new infamous gets released

KwietStorm_BLM103d ago

Never was my favorite infamous, but it was definitely a graphics showcase early on PS4. Still plays well with the unlocked frame rate.

SDuck103d ago

Still remember getting hyped about this game nearing release. Funny because I never even got a PS4. Jumped from PS3 to PC so I never played it ahahaha

OmegaSoldati103d ago

Its a good game. But thats it. Congratulations you made the best choice. I dream to have a great PC one day.

Profchaos103d ago (Edited 103d ago )

Graphically It's a absolutely stunning game that still holds up today.

Didn't have all that much depth to it forcing you to play though twice for a platinum trophy a good and bad run it was a little disappointing how similar those were Delsin would be like I'm not doing that for you in a cutscene but the cutscene would play out and force you to do it anyway just as you would of in a good run

I did like the story however it got a lot of complaints back in the day people hated playing as Delsin instead of cole despite Coles story being wrapped up.

Overall though the map wasn't overly saturated with useless points of interest there was some collectibles and things to find but nothing compared to a Ubisoft game.

I think it was a good game if a little hollow I've played it through around 4 times now since it's so short.

Also it's DLC was great a full story expansion

I've played 15, and I wouldn't consider any of those underrated TBH. Some of them are pretty high rated.

banger88135d ago

That's amazing, Gamingbolt actually put all 15 games on the same page.

shinoff2183134d ago

I. Not seeing anything on that list underrated. I never played concrete genie, the ASTRO vr,and one other but I forgot the name already. Nothing on there was underrated at all imo.

persona4chie133d ago

There’s only 4 of those games I never played, and no most of those aren’t underrated.
