Atlus To Bring Super Famicom Original Shin Megami Tensei To US via iOS

Atlus has confirmed today that the game that started it all, the original Super Famicom release of Shin Megami Tensei, will be making its way to the iOS App Store for $7.99 beginning on March 18. This is the first time the debut dungeon-crawling adventure has been officially localized for Western consumption. This challenging adventure clocks in at 40-60 hours and features the demon-fusing gameplay that’s become an Atlus staple for over two decades.

Thats a pretty dear price for a 30 year old game played on a cell phone.

Apart from you being off by close to a decade, I don't really see what the big deal with the price is. It's a fully English localized port of a massive, 60 hour game. I'd gladly toss Atlus the price of a Super Sized McLardass combo meal for their efforts in bringing the game stateside.

Besides, unlike Square Enix, Atlus doesn't skimp on their localizations. Their exceptional PSP localization of Persona: Innocent Sin is a good example.

Have you seen the prices Square Enix is looking for their Final Fantasy "remakes" on portable?

dead_pixels2185d ago

Exactly. They're usually closer to $20 and full of grammatical errors.

Why do people keep thinking mobile games should be low priced..
This one game here has great quality, it will easily get you 40+ hours of high quality gaming, not just randomly tossing bird in hundreds of similar stages or tilting your phone left and right..

Those casual crap for a few dollars, maybe.
A 60+ hour quality game, it is worth the money..
And don't give me crap like you could get an emulator and play it for free, and then whining why there are shit-tons of casual crap and no quality games on mobiles..

Okay so America get Super Famicom mobile games but Europe still don't have SMT IV?

It's a good job you make some of my favourite games Atlus because you're taking the piss -_-

It's not the SFC version BTW.

dead_pixels2185d ago

Yep, it's the GBA port of the SFC original. The article says as much.

contradictory2185d ago

i would be pissed but the fantranslation exists so... mmmmeeehhhh

atlus pls.

Don't pay for this. Emulate it. There's a fan translation.
