"We're trying to keep a consistency across all the platforms," Airtight Games says about native resolution; game is skipping Wii U because it "just doesn't fit" with developer's ambition for the game.
MARIA WUT R U DOING MARIA STAHP "Square Enix producer Naoto Sugiyama confirmed that both versions output in native 1080p and are not upscaled to the higher resolution." What do we fight about now? (dat SDK update tho.) Murdered looks like an interesting game, I'm curious to see how it pans out.
"Square Enix producer Naoto Sugiyama confirmed that both versions output in native 1080p" thus the reason why it's not coming to the WiiU ;)
Lets wait and see. One thing for sure is I will buy it first day on PS4.
Thats not the reason its not coming to Wii U, Looks like you didn't read the article at all...
Why can't devs patch 1080p into games like Metal gear and thief?
So you don't even care one ounce about the game. The only reason you are here is focus on it not coming to the Wii U, despite the common sense that no one would have bought it even if it did, which seems to give you some sort of euphoric pleasure. Gamers like this are just sad to look at it. What has happened to gaming...
"Why can't devs patch 1080p into games like Metal gear and thief?" What does patching have to do with anything? The higher you go the more pixels you need to process. The more pixels you need to process the more time the GPU will be spend rendering. Not to mention shaders that are rendered to extra buffers and what not.
It's not coming to the Wii U because it's not made from the ground up for the Wii U. From what I understand the Wii U has less power than PS4 & XBONE, but runs more efficiently. It's like a Nissan GT-R engine compared to GTO 6.3 engine. The GTO has more power but only puts about 75% if it on the road. Where the GT-R puts 98% of its power on the road. This Is why the Devs prefer making games on the PS4 & XBONE, they're both similar, it's easier and takes less time to develop. Does anyone know if a game is originally made for the Wii U, can if easily ported to the PS4 & XBONE? Now I know PS4 is going to be capable of thing the Wii U can't achieve, but it's going to be years to see a huge difference.
dude a GTR has way more HP than a 6.4l GTO. I know what you think you're trying to say. but it isnt working using your example. haha I think you should have went for HP per liter as an example of efficiency. A GTR makes over 540hp with a 3.8L v6. A GTO makes 360hp with a 7.5L V8 :-) Twice the engine, half the horsepower. A GTO makes an assload of torque though...
This is a cross-gen game - damn straight it's 1080p on PS4 and XBone, why shouldn't it be? Unless they're adding substantial polish, all cross-gen games SHOULD be expected at 1080p! ...And I'm fed up with the "just doesn't fit on Wii U" excuse too. WTF does that even mean? It's likely due to the limited expected Wii U install base. Just be honest, or STFU please devs.
@G20WLY - even though at this current point in time the install base of the Wii U is basically the same as the PS4 and still more than the XB1. Devs just assume that only 1st party games will sell on the Wii U, so they don't make them, thus proving the point that only 1st party games sell because they are the only games to release on the system. It's a weird cycle.. :P
@LOL_WUT so because it runs natively at 1080p for both XB1/PS4 is the reason why it is not coming to Wii U makes while a lot of sense to you when the game is going to go to PS3 / 360 as well when they wont be getting the 1080 treatment. Yes you have a lot of logic there to believe the way they put it. Obviously there are other "business" reason behind it rather than this.
It does look good from what little I've seen. Definitely plan on picking this up when I get my hands on a PS4 later in the year.
"What do we fight about now? " Textures, lighting, AA quality, framerate etc.
Okay. Ryse excels in most of those aspects thank you very much. Games on X1 are now being developed 1080p 60fps with the SDK update not even here yet. Game over fanboys. It was fun while it lasted.
okay, NAME a single multi platform game that have had any of the differences other than frame rate resolution ... guess what the answer is none.
@nicksetzer1 Right... http://www.eurogamer.net/ar... @georgenoob "Games on X1 are now being developed 1080p 60fps with the SDK update" Except for MGS5 of course.
gpu strength, buying out devs for exclusives, who has more aaa titles, controllers, which camp makes the best gifs, "fake" nerd gamer chicks. C'mon. We'll fight about anything.
What games over... dont blow your load too quickly. Lets wait n see. You ass must really be hurting for you to champion potential parity....pathetic lol.
Georgenoob... Imagine a pool off resources. The whole pool is the hardware, and how you use the pool is software (operating systems included). Yes, x1 could manage their pool better and better to reach parity with ps4. However, gddr5 and the ps4 graphics card will always mean that ps4 has a larger pool to deal with. Overclocking, reducing the amount reserved for kinect is ms playing catchup. The new sdk is similar, but what will you say when ps4 does that? The ryse thing just shows that developers can do tricks, but the game is small and linear comparatively to many other games. I can't wait for the order to come out so that after every xbox fanboy says, "but ryse!" I can say, "but the order!" Relative to pc gaming these consoles are similar. Relative to each other, ps4 is stronger. Just stop living in denial. It's ok as long as they each bring good games.
What do we fight about now?...... Nothing both systems have good games so far. Leave the fighting for the children us adults can play the games. Lol.
Yep. They probably dumbed down the quality and filtering level of lighting, textures, and shadows, as well as additional compression on the textures for the xbone version while keeping them as close to the PC version as the PS4's power will allow.
@Prime157 This site is becoming more of a farce everyday, just like a P.G. Wodehouse novel How can we take a non-developer's word as law? It's like a Texan teaching a European about "Tolerance"... OT: With the changes MS are making it will indeed level the playing field and bring the debate to what matters... The Games
We should be more concerned they say they are aiming for parity therefore gimping ps4 which is pretty lame. Not one dev can make the games the same exactly without explaining why they gimped the ps4, because that is in fact what parity would mean.
Its Sad how degenerate and low this comment is. Get a life little boy
Microsoft starting to fight back. Great
Fight back? What? By performing similarly? That's not what we call as "fight back", it's "keeping up".
While I will save my final judgment of this game until it ships;one thing is clear THIS IS A CROSS GEN TITLE......... Of course its going to be easy to hit 1080p on X1 all they have to do is use last gen assets whenever they hit a dame bottleneck (and the sad truth is that's were that magical 10% power they unlock from kenict is going. You XBOTS will grasp at any thing you can to try to prove X1 will somehow reach PS4 in parity. What I hope to god does not happen this gen, is we get stuck in some kind of prolonged cross gen cycle.Where 2 years down the line instead of cutting off last gen major titles,we stuck keep getting cross gen games resulting in TRUE NEXT GEN POTENTIAL not being realized.I also see X1 as a potential Allie of this scenario and wanting this to happen as a way to fuzzy the lines about there weak a$$ system.Only time will tell and Sony just needs to keep moving and attack M$ at every chance they have because we all know M$ will use there deep pocks to try to fabricate at victory if they get desperate enough.
I think square spent a lot more time with the XBONE version to achieve 1080p. Most companies aren't going to do that though.
@rafaman, Its not MS fighting back anything, its Square dumbing dowwn the PS4 version to match the X1, its called parity. Square aint getting my money for shoddy work like this. And I though res dont matter, you xbox fanboys are phony.
Can´t tell what comments below were more juvenile. God, how old are you guys? lol
Even when PS4 and X1 are the same resolution . The PS4 is the superior version of the multiplatform games. PS4 has higher frame-rates , better draw distances, better lighting and better AA. because like it or not the PS4 hardware is more powerful than X1 hardware. X1 is happy shooting for 3D place , 1. High end PC .2 PS4 .3 toss up X1 and wiiu . Xbox fanBoys Arenow celebrating when a game is in 1080p on X1. PS4 all the games are in 1080p were expecting 1080p 60fps. The only game not in 1080p is Battlefield 4
based on what? Not a single multiplatform games have been any different other than resolution or frame rate at all ....
Digital foundry AC4 NICKSETZER1 I can provide more if you would like . 1080p framebuffer on the PS4, backed up by a new custom post-process anti-aliasing solution that works well in suppressing jaggies across much of the scene. This gives the game a clean look overall, barring issues with sub-pixel detail that can only be resolved on PC, where a vast range of anti-aliasing options are available if you have the GPU power to run them. Moving onto Microsoft's console, there's no special update to boost resolution on the Xbox One game, which renders at 1600x900 while using an older post-process AA algorithm that doesn't provide the same smooth level of coverage we see on PS4. This isn't necessarily a deal breaker though, if you consider how well the stock 900p PS4 game is upscaled - even without the patch, overall image quality still looked remarkably smooth. That said, it's instantly obvious that the same level of image quality isn't present on the Xbox One release, which looks visibly worse in comparison to the unpatched 900p PS4 game. Essentially this translates to a fuzzier image on screen that highlights the breaking up of fine detail in the distance while smoothing over texture details. As we've seen in other sub-1080p games upscaled by the Xbox One hardware, overall image quality is further impacted by the introduction of an unwanted sharpening filter, directly responsible for the grainy pop that surrounds the texture work and foliage throughout the game and the visibly hard edges on foliage and complex scenery.
too bad you have no clue what you're talking about. framebuffer is not something that's built into consoles, especially not with pooks of ram as large as they are. Both have enough ram to easily buffer 1080p otherwise you wouldn't have forza 5 (the ONLY) aaa game that doesn't drop below 60fps. . . Secindly aliasing methods are determined by the devs, there isn't some special aliasing method tjat all ps4 games use, and they definitely aren't new. I assume you think the fact that you heard the devs for the order mention msaa you think it's some special sony only thing. Also, even further ahowing your ignorance, you say post process aliasing, as if there is anoylther kind.... all aliasing effects are post process... at least all worth mentioning. (Again none of which are exclusive or new to sony) . . but just the fact that you think all the games not only use the same aliasing effects but that is also something special to sony and included in all games shows how stupid you are.
@ nick Why was the cloud feature omitted from the x1 version of metal gear yet there on the ps4 version top of having a higher res.... I mean a fuss was made about grass on gta but the whole sky.....lol. either way, a side is setting themselves up for some crow. Time will tell which side that is but if I was a betting man......
You were mostly correct until you said that nonsense about it being a toss up between the XB1 and the Wii U. The XB1 is definitely a lot more powerful than the Wii U. PC>PS4>XB1>Wii U...this is the actual relative performance based on the factual specs.
Wow, nicksetzer1, has just shown how ignorant he is. But i guess that's MS, clientele for ya. NFSR has HBAO and Bokeh DOF that the X1 ver. doesnt. AC4 has a better AA solution. TR, here is a quote from DF: "For the most part the main graphical bells and whistles are lavished equally across both consoles, although intriguingly there are a few areas that do see Xbox One cutbacks. As demonstrated in our head-to-head video below (and in our vast Tomb Raider comparison gallery), alpha-based effects in certain areas give the appearance of rendering at half resolution - though other examples do look much cleaner. We also see a lower-quality depth of field in cut-scenes, and reduced levels of anisotropic filtering on artwork during gameplay. Curiously, there are also a few lower-resolution textures in places on Xbox One, but this seems to be down to a bug (perhaps on level of detail transitions) as opposed to a conscious downgrade." NBA 2K14 is missing the AA of the PS4 version and the list goes on. Ignorance, MS's bliss!
"Explaining the decision to make both the Xbox One and PS4 versions output in 1080p, Airtight Games chief creative officer Matt Brunner said, "We're trying to keep a consistency across all the platforms." " Please don't tell me they were money-hatted to give 'parity' and turned down the graphic effects of one version?
Yeah I thought we were past this pathetic parity thing. I guess this will be another game I don't support if the developers are going to purposefully not take advantage of the PS4 hardware. There's still plenty of other graphical aspects that could be improved for the PS4 version, so I'll wait and see.
"What do we fight about now?" LOL, so 2 games manage 1080p on both systems and suddenly the disparity doesn't exist?
I love watching them jump the gun, both of these games look like upres PS3 ports -_-. They will learn when the Witcher and Watch Dogs come out.
Unbelievable, arent they?
To be fair, it doesn't look like a graphically intensive game.
It's also releasing on last gen consoles with nothing more to push other than res & fps,it BETTER run 1080p on the Xbox One. Let's see how Quantum Break holds up on the "res/fps" department, not to mention that games like Titan Fall wont go up to 1080p on the Xbox One version.
"What do we fight about now? " hamburgers > sandwiches
You did NOT just got there.
I bring that argument up around my friends and some of them just go ballistic.
Well Sandwiches can be used as a weapon. Demonstration: http://www.youtube.com/watc...
So can hamburgers with mad cow disease.
Sorry... Hot Dog Gun trumps the sandwhich gun. http://www.youtube.com/watc...
If you have sandwiches, you have a woman made it for you, hamburgers belongs to the fast food and you're all alone. Girlfriend > forever alone so sandwiches FTW!! /s LOL it will be hillarious if all of these will be marked as "off-topic" later. Will be even more hillarious if it doesn't tbh
I belive there is a 3rd entry in this argument. Hot Dogs! hot hogs > hamburgers > sandwhiches. Nothing can beat a chili cheese dog!
Oh no he ditn't
To hell with your hamburgers, they're underpowered crap for casual eaters. I'll take my 1080p sandwich with anti-aliased meat any day of the week, thank you.
Bwahahahaha that was funny bubble up
@curtis cheeseburgers > Steak
"In all honesty, all the Wii U games I've ever played, the only good ones are the ones that are made specifically for [the Wii U]. And this just doesn't fit," Brunner said. That is such a load of BS. He just should have said what the next paragraph stated. The WiiU's install base is just to low to consider a port. But to say "honesty" that this game doesn't fit the WiiU? The WiiU has all the buttons and triggers the PS4/3, 360/1 has, how can it not fit?
I think he's saying they're not creative enough to come up with a use for the second screen. I love all the elborate excuses not to put a game on the Wii U... why can't just be honest and say, look at has low install base and we don't want to spend the money to port it over? Is that, that hard?
I cant play FPS with the Wii U tablet. I rock the Pro-controller. Not every game needs to utilize the 2nd screen. Sometimes its just a nice option if you want to play on a smaller screen while someone is watching the TV.
I think he is saying that the games engine would have to be built from the ground up - taking advantage of the Wii Us architecture - in order to maintain the same visual fidelity as the PS4/Xbox One versions, but in practice this wouldn't explain the PS360 versions. Therefore the logical conclusion is that maniacmayhem is correct.
You're right not every game needs to use the second screen outside of the off-tv play, but the machine was built to utilize the second screen as unique offering and right now outside of NintendoLand, Rayman, and ZombieU there aren't whole lot of inventive things happening with it. I don't know, right now I have the PS4 and Wii U, I would like to see cool things done with second screen like what people did with the DS/3DS.
@Eonjay: The install bases for the PS3 and 360 are 16 times that of the Wii U's install base. They'll have to work harder to make the game work on the old systems as opposed to the current-gen systems, especially on the PS3, but atleast they'll make some money off of it. If they made a Wii U version, it will take time to optimize and it won't make them enough money to warrant making that version, so it's practically a waste of time.
Maniac you are right. Retro's "DKC: Tropical Freeze" is a 9.5 to 10 rated game- AND It does not even utilize the gamepad at all. So, when people say things like this, they are just making excuses.
They're not making it for the Wii U because it's not going to sell enough to warrant even making the Wii U version. If Wii U owners start buying 3rd party games on the Wii U, it'll make 3rd parties want to port their games to the Wii U.
Therein lies the rub, though; we won't make third parties' games sell better when most of their efforts thus far were just bad Ports of old games that we already played when we became multiplatform gamers during the ps360 gen. We hold the wallets, we hold the money, and if third parties want to make huge sums of cash from all 3 consoles instead of just 2, then they need to show us games we want. Otherwise, Wii U owners will be content with the growing amount of exclusives and indies on the wii u , and a portion of them might pick up an xbone or ps4 down the road when they are cheaper. Better games will give them a better chance at sales on the wii u. As long as they treat wii u owners as if they should be happy with third class treatment, or as if third parties are doing them and the system some sort of favor with bad Ports of old games, they will have to rely on the other two for their income.
