KOTOR 3 Fan Game In Development

KOTOR is still today one of the most popular Star Wars games ever made and the irony of it is that when it was first announced, many people questioned the fact that Star Wars would make an RPG and that it would be any good. Imagine the surprise once fans got to check out this amazing game?

Hope they have spoken to Disney?

Jackhass4115d ago

Yeeeeah, I have a feeling this might not last long.

ddgaming8204115d ago

Love how people disagree, some companies do care about it. Fan games have been cancelled in the past due to this.

SilentNegotiator4115d ago

Anyone making a fan game needs to keep their f***ing traps shut until they're finished and have leaked it online. Maybe even long after.

tigertron4115d ago (Edited 4115d ago )

Knowing Disney and EA this will get shut down pretty soon. :(

FamilyGuy4115d ago

I never knew what KOTOR stood for, or even that it was an acronym at all, till just now.
Such a popular name and I was just lost on it lol

Knights of the old republic... I feel so slow.

On topic: These guys must not know Disney if they think they can get away with this...

Disney will have issue with this, but Im sure some of the kotor 3 story had been written.
As had characters and art work.

I have never understood why kotor 3 never got made, it defo would have made more money than the old republic and galaxies combined.

ive played many games across the majority of platforms.
The KOTOR series and the jedi knights series are some of my best gaming moments to date.
They really should focus on those sorts of games again.

NYC_Gamer4115d ago

EA might have a problem with this since they have exclusive SW game rights for console/pc

Bercilak4115d ago

But see this quote from the article:

"We’ve established contacts in the Star Wars gaming industry and the hope is that once our draft is done they will help us get the game pitched . . ."

It seems to me that they'd be trying to get the game legitimately picked up by the lawful license holder. Chances of that are practically nil, of course, but still. . .it's a nice thought.

danthegamerfiend4115d ago

Those star wars games were some of the best gaming of my life. Thank God someone grew some balls and started making SWTKOR3

bigpiece4115d ago

EA is always worried about money right? so why dont they make KOTOR 3 they would sell crazy amounts of that game!

Rikuide_Furame4115d ago

Please no. EA have taken some of my favourite franchises and destroyed them in an attempt to broaden their market appeal. With EA at the helm, the developer (presumably BioWare) would be forced to make all sorts of changes - think Dragon Age: Origins to Dragon Age 2.

I'd love a true KotOR III, but I have zero faith in such a project if EA are involved.

tommygunzII4115d ago

Well said, I couldn't agree more.

Trenta274115d ago

Dead Space 3 is also a good one. Damn I hated that co-op.

listenkids4114d ago

Bioware ruined DA2.

By that reasoning, would you praise EA if DA3 is stellar? Most likely not.

Rikuide_Furame4114d ago

Listenkids:

I disagree. Whilst there were design decisions I disagreed with (which very well could have instigated by BioWare) EA is a common entity such poor sequels.

The game was rushed - end of. Very little in the way of environments, shorter plot, player decision bottle-necking (which was so clearly a result of lack of implemented alternatives). I don't give BW a free pass, but it's all too clear when EA rushes a game to market. I have no reason to see why KotOR III would be any different.

Let's be honest, with KOTOR 3 there is very little reason to play SWTOR.

SWTOR is literally KOTOR 3 with an MMO slapped on to it. The MMO part of it is pretty lame to. But it satisfies that SW RPG fix.

If there was a KOTOR 3, I would forget all about SWTOR.

Obsidian’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3 was about battling ancient, monstrous Sith lords

Once work wrapped on KoTOR 2, Obsidian was ready to make a third game in the acclaimed RPG series. Unfortunately, it never came to pass, but here’s what was planned, according to one of the writers.

-Foxtrot2242d ago

Shame we'll never get to see Obsidian do this :(

BlackIceJoe2241d ago

It truly is sad that KOTOR III never happened and these days if EA approved it I wouldn't want it either. It is a shame one of the most requested games won't ever come out and if it did you sadly know it wouldn't be good.

Darkborn2241d ago

All EA does is ruin hope's and dreams and IP.

eilpaz2241d ago

Another game from studio members which they probably outsourced.

jznrpg3128d ago (Edited 3128d ago )

Next Fallout pls, I loved New Vegas, minus the bugs of course but platinumed regardless of issues and it didnt ruin my experience, just a hindrance. But the detail they put in it was worth the bugs and after that do KoTOR 3 :D

Movefasta19933128d ago

accidentally disliked, yeah new Vegas was my personal fav rpg last gen ,obsidian are amazing story tellers I wish Bethesda would just hire them for all their future games

Errorist763128d ago

Please KOTOR 3...I'd sell my kidney for this, especially if it's from Obsidian and not what has become of Bioware,

Gaming4Life19813128d ago

please let kotor 3 happen gaming gods...........

In a Galaxy Far, Far Away…My Ideas for Knights of the Old Republic III

Rudolf van Wyk writes: "It’s been over a decade since the initial release of the critically acclaimed Knights of the Old Republic, a Star Wars masterpiece developed by BioWare. Since then, the strong replayability element of the game has continually pulled in even more geeks and gamers like a tractor beam. With its nearly flawless mechanics and revolutionary concept at the time, many RPG titles still don’t come close to its grandeur."

Id much prefer the continuation of Mass Effect than more star wars

MadLad4104d ago (Edited 4104d ago )

I want both.
Personally though, I would rather see a Kotor III first. I would really like to see Obsidian take the series on again. They house some of the best writers in the industry and, considering they have a real development cycle, they can put out some truly amazing work AND not have it be a buggy mess at launch.
That or CD Projekt Red. Both development teams know how to make a modernized RPG that doesn't feel the need to strip away most of the depth and turn it into what is essentially an action game. CD Projekt has already proven they can out-Bioware Bioware with the release of Witcher 2; the game Bioware has, essentially, always tried to make. While Obsidian certainly has a better grasp of moral ambeguity, which has always made the stories and narratives seen from them (namely those written by Chris Avellone), incredibly engaging and personal for the player.
