It is pretty funny that people are saying the game sucks.I understand it not being for everyone but saying that the game at it's core is bad not to sure about that.I have been playing it on ps4 for about 5 hours and so far see nothing game breaking or terrible mechanics wise.Not saying that if you don't like it your stupid but I truly do not see anything broken about it.

It just feels like a step backward. You can't go where you want, the loot is pointless and the story isn't very original or exciting. There's more fun to be had replaying Thieves' Guild missions in Skyrim/Oblivion.

I get all of your points not saying you don't have the right to not like it.But it might not be what old school fans of thief are looking for but that doesn't mean the whole game deserves to be looked at as bad.I think most of the gameplay elements are pretty solid except for the occasional frame drops.

Im playing it as well (PS4). Its not a bad game, not sure why there is bad press around this game. I have never played a theif game before though, so i got nothing to compare it to. But i really enjoyed Assassins Creed Black Flag more. Thief will keep me entertained until infamous and the order arrive

I agree, it's not as bad as people make it out to be. It doesn't do a lot of new things but it's still a good reintroduction to the Thief series. A place to start all over again and hope that it just gets better from here if they decide to make a new one.

Wow... You gave a game a bad score just because it appeals to only the most hardcore of stealth fans?

Of course. This is a reboot. It's deliberately trying to bring new fans to the series and, if you've never played Thief before, this is a bad place to start.

And it's not bad because it's so-hardcore-you-can't-hand le-it, it's bad because the level design is poor. A hardcore game would give you more freedom and exploration. Thief is just a linear mess.

The hell kind of a tagline is that for a game review?

Did his mother come down the basement stairs and say "You call THIS fun? Get out there and make me grand children, dang it!"? Why would he comment on mothers' opinions of the game?

Ha! No. My mom happened to be in town visiting me and watched me play through a lot of stuff today. I just felt like her comments summed up what I didn't like about the game and it gave me a different spin to put on my review.

I don't work for a site that gets advance copies or anything like that so I'm always struggling to make my reviews stand out on release day. I'm pretty sure I'm the only reviewer who spent the whole time playing the game in front of his mom, so I thought it'd make for an interesting twist.

Too funny. This game is taking a real beating. I have not tried it so I cannot comment on how fun it is (I did think that the previews looked good) but seeing how I am a Dad I wonder if have the same gaming sixth sense as her. I will have to buy the game and see.

Not the way reviewers use the scale these days. To be fair, the game probably is worth about that, given the overall tone of most other reviews. Nothing standout about it, not horribly broken and bad, but not exactly good, either.

It's okay for games to be average, and it's okay to give an average game an average score. It just helps if people know what that means.

This, sir, is the problem that we face today with reviews. Even the reviewers don't really use their own scales properly. There is really no standard or basis of comparison. When, pressed, there's usually some generic pseudo-explanation of a scale that STILL doesn't matter in the end. That's why I actually like when reviewers mention other games when comparing how BAD a game is. At least then I have a basis for comparison, instead of a seemingly random number.

Why do people expect to roam the whole city in Thief. You have to break in & steal from a mansion for eg, so you start off out in the street. You don't get to freely explore on Dishonored, you have to take a boat to the start of the mission & along the way there's little sides to do, but every game is like that. Its not Skyrim or GTA.

I think the guy who is playing it with his Moms and having loading and other issues. Where I understand that can be frustrating but it's not the game. The game is not bad in fact hours of good fun. It's the machine he's playing on that's the problem.. Sometimes you just have to face facts.

Playing this on PC, with GTX 780ti, so far i like it..No Frame Rate issues, loading are acceptable..and i have all the old thief games in Trapezoid Original Box as well..I don't really understand why people say this game is bad..its not really bad..there are things that is a little limited though and the Sound is not as Great as the old thief, but overall..its still a good game!

I've played fist 3 hours and I really like it so far,if you like your games slow and stealthy then this is for you.The map is tricky to get round but the old thief games were like that.I like it but I like stealth based games,I would give this game a 8 so far

Unless mum is a gamer then I would not expect her to like it.put mum on a challenge map see if she likes it then.
