Thief is a hot mess. It's the kind that offers just enough to keep you interested, but ultimately leaves you wondering if you're enjoying the ride or holding out for the game you think/hope it can become. To be fair, Square Enix's Thief revival has its bright spots. These, however, are few and far between, and only hardcore fans (or those who haven't played a stealth game in ten years) will stick around long enough to see them shine.

The Thief game series has had many ups-and-downs, and 2014's reboot showed a great deal of promise nearly a decade ago.
This would be such a great franchise to reboot. A darker game than Dishonored, but focused around stealth and large scale heists from an oppressive monarchy.
That's probably my dream game. I love immersive sims and stealth!
The last one was a trainwreck and has been in the bargain bin since just after launch. If they bring it back, they need a massive change in direction.

I was never really excited about this game, hence the lack of pre-order but I'm surprised the reviews have been pretty low. Averaging around "70" for this game which is not exactly bad, it's good but with the hype you would expect more. I'm still keeping my hopes up for Second Sons.
