Been playing this and actually think it's really good! Just reached Level 10

Studio-YaMi4145d ago

Level 14 Archer here,LOVING IT!

ShinMaster4145d ago (Edited 4145d ago )

It's pretty good. But the text is so damn small lol
Need to lean forward quite a bit to read every time an NPC talks.

You can adjust EVERYTHING in HUD setting to your own desire. Select what element you want to change and you can change it's size by Pressing R3, scaling it from 80% to 140%. As i remember there is even a font size setting too somewhere.

I tried to find this on the store earlier today but it was nowhere to be found. Based in the UK.

Fixay4145d ago

I'm in the UK too. There was a post on N4G a few days ago with a link to the UK playstaion store to download the beta from your browser. Then you just go onto your PS4 and download it from your downloads list. I'll try find the link for you.

caseh4145d ago

I'm in work at the moment but I've done what you've suggested. Managed to find a link for it (think it was an article on the PS blog) and I've added it to my basket, can see it in the basket via the app on my phone so hopefully, it will be there when I log into my PS4 next. :)

Studio-YaMi4145d ago

It won't show up on the store search bar, you'll find it in the "Demo" section.

caseh4145d ago

That would be where I was going wrong then. :)

Thanks for the heads up.

MonChiChi4145d ago (Edited 4145d ago )

Very well done. Few tweeks need to be made but other than that this is almost identical to the PC version. I am loving the remote play, and even did a little streaming to test that out, both worked like a charm.

I kinda hoped remote play wasn't that good, b/c now I am gonna be on the game more than I am now haha.

For your typical style MMO it is pretty good. But I really want a real time combat MMO like Everquest Next to play instead. I've been playing the same beat to death style MMO gameplay since the late 90s. I want something new.

On topic, as I said- its a good game for the standard MMO. It made me with GW2 would release for the PS4.

dcj05244145d ago

Samr here man. In all my Real-time combat games i'm the dude with the daggers or fist going in for very quick jabs and quickly moving out of range/dodging. Dodging in this game is so retarted. You don't dodhe the attack animation, you dodge it after it is done casting that attack. Double that with the 2 second delay lag and the fact that the enemy doesn't hsve to physically touch you unline the Souls games and it really screws up my style of playing RPGS.

Paulie_gualtieri4145d ago

Try DCUO.Played it for a good two years on PC and it was amazing.Kinda slowly weened off it once it went F2P but it's still alive and kicking and with an awesome real time combat system.

dcj05244144d ago

Sounds like my type of game.

Thatlalala4143d ago (Edited 4143d ago )

They call it that because of a glitch they call "clipping" so animations are will... Clipped lol. The devs can't fix it without rehaul of the combat engine, and the community is to ignorant, they think its intended. Its clearly not. DPS players turn there entire six spell rotations into one animation, which eats up to much power(if you don't do this you will be kicked), so trolls which are meant for cc have to be batterys to keep power up. Mean while tanks and healers scrounge for power because its going to the dps. DCUO is a joke of a game where the community plays it wrong, the publisher is making money so they drag the dead horse just a little longer. But pretty much that game sucks. 103 gadget troll/dps 132sp.

Paulie_gualtieri4143d ago

I would hardly call the entire game shit because a few over compensating DPS players.

Like all MMO's, it had it's fair share of screw ups, patchs, fixes and more problems but the things it right it did SO right.

I don't know if you played PC or PS3 but on PC if a DPS was just spamming, say, fireburst over and over and over instead of working on Power IT's for DMG buffs, we called him out on it and or kicked him.People learn quick to cut that shit out

Jubez1874143d ago

Ehh my argument with GW2 is that it relies TOO much on action. I did practically every dungeon and I don't remember any crazy mechanics, or any points where I had to communicate with the team. Also, there's no imposed team composition. So you pretty much just zerg around flipping and DPS'ing. I like the more strategic/calculated approach of FFXIV and WoW.

Also, real-time combat usually takes so many resources that it starts to pull away from other aspects of the game. And MMO's should be more than just combat.

Paulie_gualtieri4143d ago

That's where DCUO shined. It had the great trinity system which was essential to beat any instance or raid. You couldn't solo squat in DC no matter how beast you are.

Tank needed to do his job
Healer needed to keep everyone alive
DPS needed to burn down dangerous Mobs

But they added another class, the controller, which had to keep everyone's power balls full at the expensive of his own powerbar, else healer couldn't heal, tank couldn't pull aggro, dps couldn't use skills. It was so good. The real time combat just made the boss fights and battles that much more intense and everyone had to be on their A game.

Damn i miss that game.

It’s really old now. All great MMOs decline.

PRIMORDUS1d 9h ago

Also who wants to keep paying a monthly fee every month, there are other options like Guild Wars 2 😁with no monthly fee and while not that many people overall compared to FF XIV, it did increase to about 21 mil now.

Sephiroushin23h ago(Edited 23h ago)

I prefer to pay since i do not like guild wars and it keep kids away, but FF14 decreased on quality since they started to make it "more accessible", tried throne and liberty and while it was okay it has so many issues, same for dune awakening... Its time to start making a new FF MMO

Time for the Final Fantasy 17 MMO

kaewcha7341d 10h ago

Looks like Square Enix is self-aware but still stuck in place, they see the player drop and apologize for the bugs, but nothing really changes. Shame, FFXIV used to be the gold standard

Servbot411d 8h ago

My entire free company has stopped playing. The writing has consistently gotten worse and the content is sparse and lacking; unless you are a hardcore player there's very little for you to do. They are over-catering to the people who will grind three+ times a week on a single fight for multiple months when the playerbase by large doesn't want that sort of content. Square needs to dedicate more resources to the game instead of wasting them on mobile and other live service slop.

The biggest factor for me is the way they butchered job design over the years , the casualization and over simplification really hurt a good chunk of enjoyment I used to have . Jobs lost any form of complexity and just became " press glowing button" DDR style for fighting where the gameplay loop is a about the 2 minute burst window . They removed most DoTS, timer mechanics , cast times, pets, RNG ect and all around homogenized everything . When you try and can cater to everyone ... you cater to no one .

Do you not see this happening during development? Like, why are we apologizing after the fact instead of stopping it during development?

Stopac5d ago

Criticism and reflection occur after the fact. The apology acknowledges the past criticisms with the new expansion and they're keeping transparency with players about it. Now that they've acknowledged it - it will be interesting to see what kind of cycle we'll get with a new expansion and I wonder if they're planning something special with beast master since they didn't mention it in the last live letter.

anast5d ago

It's all good, as long as the price of the product decreases.

Stopac5d ago

The base game and expansion go on sale all the time and doesn't stay full price for very long since a new expansion is on the horizon.

If you're stating they should reduce the price of new expansions or the sub fee, no, that's not gonna happen lmao people aren't even complaining about that. They are criticizing the same old pattern of content that releases and how it is devolving into mediocracy.

anast5d ago

"They are criticizing the same old pattern of content that releases and how it is devolving into mediocracy."

The product should be cheaper then.

PapaBop5d ago

I was unhappy with DT and have spent far less time in it than any other expansion but it's things like this that makes me respect Yoshi P. It's rare for such a high profile developer to be so candid in his assessment on a live game.

Stopac5d ago

Same, i've found my self resubbing every two patches instead of keeping it up. Don't own a home in the game so there's no point in keeping a constant sub going. The post story is getting interesting though.
