24 Star Kiefer Sutherland Involved in Mortal Kombat Game

While discussing his role as Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Sutherland said, “I did Mortal Kombat, and that's such a huge game, but it’s so not like [MGS5]."

Sutherland's been working on Metal Gear Solid for over a year, but said he completed Mortal Kombat "pretty quickly compared to [MGS5].” He did not specify his role.

Yeah, it was a true fighting game back in the days. Then they stripped the series down. Where the hell are my No Mercy moves and stage finishers? You know, the things that helped make the older KI games great.

But NetherRealm is about to come and show them how it's done.

I hope its not MK10 i know ill get alot of disagrees for that but i want another awesome MK open adventure game like shaolin monks that would be more epic in my opinion its been so long since shaolin monks.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. I loved Shaolin Monks even though it was only 5-6 hours long and the versus mode was horrible for a fighting game. lol

But, I rather see the return of Konquest Mode like in Deception eventually. Even though it felt like a tutorial learning every character, I enjoyed exploring the world of Mortal Kombat and finding all those hidden secrets.

Whatever it is, the next game is going to be amazing. Love MK over any other fighter.

they just successfully ressurected the franchise and made it popular again , and instead of providing a second game , you want them wasted on some spin off ? Not saying you shouldnt get it , but it's too early and would be better left to another studio

Didnt they try the custom fatality before in MK: Armageddon? From what I remember it wasn't very good. Best leave it to the pros to surprise us with how sick they can be this time.

Yeah. They were "custom" apparently... but, it was just a series of canned fatalities. Various buttons combos that "stacked" generic attacks and called them fatalities.

I was thinking more of a level editor mode. But, instead of building a new level, you literally edit and develop the animation behind the fatality itself.

It wouldn't be easy! But, camera controls and perhaps a library of scripted, pre-done animations could be combined with weaponry/items to allow for a whole new MK experience.

Imagine going up against a custom made character online who has 3-4 totally unique fatalities? Assuming the gameplay itself was as good or better than MK9, that would add a TON of replay value.

Then layer on the ability to easily "share" gameplay with the next-gen systems.

In 5 seconds I just thought of two hilarious custom fatalities.
