'Dying Light': Players draw zombies by screaming into headsets on Xbox One & PS4

When we think about the differences we will be seeing when we play Dying Light on next-generation consoles versus current, visuals are an obvious difference that come to mind, but what about the ability to attract zombies with your voice?

Recently, Tymon Smektala, who is a producer on Dying Light, talked about the differences players will see between the current and next-generation versions of Dying Light, one of them being the ability to draw zombies to you through your Xbox One or PS4 headset.

Ugh, i'd rather not scream into my mic

PSN-JeRzYzFyNeSt4097d ago

I'm sure you can talk into it, and there are other ways as well

Sayai jin4097d ago

You can do this with Kinect on XB1 and I am pretty sure the PS Eye has this feature too...so why use a mic?

rdgneoz34097d ago

@Sayai jin Because both systems come with a mic, but only one forces you to buy its camera.

Sayai jin4096d ago

@rdgneoz3- Force? If people don't want the kinect then they do should not get an XB1? I think that devs should support the major features and capabilities for all platforms...they should utilize the kinect and the PS Eye. I have both, but have no game has really utilized either.

Derekvinyard134097d ago

This game is a fixed up dead island I've played it. Only reason I might get it is because the story looks a little better.

KrisButtar4097d ago

This game has co-op, is it split screen? Play with no mic, problem solved. I see it as a feature I wouldn't want because I didn't think it was any fun shouting at those store clerks to rob them faster in GTAO.

Sooo....that little headset free with my PS4 does exactly what the super Kinect does? I see.

Voice commands, thanks to the power of the little free headset on PS4! Innovation at its best!

;D lol

SmokingMonkey4097d ago

Better with Kinect...I mean....with a headset.

STANK084097d ago (Edited 4097d ago )

@Insomnia_84 Your headset has a camera? Can it monitor my heartbeat? Skype in 1080p? Detect fingers and limbs? If so, you have one bad ass headset :)

GutZ314097d ago (Edited 4097d ago )

When kenict can track all my fingers with little to no error, at 150fps with the ability to process that data before it needs to be overlayed to the TV, shows no lag, and to top it off, has games that utilize it to a degree that makes me want to drop my controller and flip my hands and arms in the air, please let me know.

Also, at insomnia, that's total trash talk, no truth at all.

PunisherRevenge4097d ago

@GutZ...Lol....call me when the PS Eye can do half that.

Ninjamonkey824097d ago

When playing my PS4 the CIA can not detect my nuts ;) Thats a serious selling point ya know.

That's why i disconnect my kinect I'm very uncomfortable with that stuff ya know.

Man the joys of gaming naked.

curtis924097d ago

@stank08 Why in the blue hell would I need ANY of that though?

SmokingMonkey4097d ago

So what great game uses all of that?

The Kinectimal knows I love it because my heart beats faster?

Insomnia_844097d ago (Edited 4097d ago )

I see you're not getting the point of my comment. Up until now, Microsoft has used only the ability to use voice commands to navigate your system (something we have seen in smartphones for years) and the ability to use them also with games(something we have also seen for years) as a selling point and a reason why kinect is in every box. But how many games use any of the other things MS says it can do?? Kinect might be good for many things but not for gaming. It will never make your games better.

Get something in your mind, kinect was forced on you not to make your gaming better or whatever they want you to believe, kinect is there for advertisers and the NSA from which Microsoft is/will get millions. But believe whatever you want, blind yourself to what's real and keep calling it "conspiracy"

http://kotaku.com/xbox-ones...

"...And when a publication like Advertising Age—whose audience ain't exactly privacy-concerned hardcore gamers—says "Xbox One can essentially work like TV that watches you, bringing marketers a huge new trove of data," you realize why Microsoft wanted those requirements in the first place."

http://gizmodo.com/confirme...

And the interesting thing is how after it came to light that these companies were with NSA and people were not very happy about it, they suddenly create an "alliance" to sue NSA. Give me a fckn break!! The corporations and NSA will tell whatever the people whatever they want to hear to continue with their things just like they were before the public new about it.

If with everything that's out there you people still can't see clear, With all the Microsoft fck ups, lies, smoke and mirrors crap and dirty tactics, then nothing will make you change your mind. Be fooled forever.

Kryptix4097d ago

His point was that the Kinect's voice commands and voice recognition was a big selling point but a cheap headset that came with the PS4 can do exactly the same thing. So you don't have to pay extra for such features. Like last gen, people were made to believe features like this could only be implemented with the Kinect...so far it's been proven to be bullshit.

Looking Back At The $386,000 Dying Light 'My Apocalypse Edition', 10 Years Later

Nobody bought it for an obvious reason.

Gamingsince198179d ago

Wtf did this edition come with ? A real helicopter and a real zombie virus ?

Vithar79d ago

For one lucky person willing to spend $386,000, the My Apocalypse Edition of Dying Light promised a staggering collection. It included the buyer’s face in the game, a human-sized ‘Volatile’ statue, and parkour lessons with a freerunning team. It also came with night vision goggles, an all-expenses paid round trip to Techland’s offices, and four signed copies of the game. Oh, and it also came with a custom-built, ‘zombie-proof’ survival shelter.

LOL but it was a stunt from the team:
‘It was a PR stunt and got a lot of media attention for its wild and over-the-top nature, it was designed to generate buzz around the game’s release. It did a great job of getting the game noticed, though! But nobody purchased it – thankfully, I guess!’

I finally beat DL2 this past weekend. I’ll pick up the Beast for sure.

got_dam103d ago

It got a lot of shit from fans more not being as scary at night on release. I was in that boat. But once I gave it a fair shot I really loved it. The movement was so much more expressive to me. I enjoyed the story too.... for the most part. Was my game of the year when it came out. With all the updates for darker nights and all that, it's even better. I feel almost exactly the same about stalker 2 right now. The erojank games are scratching my itch.
