Xbox One may be forced into the cloud as pressure on the console seems unlikely to give up in the medium term.

This was a great article fanBoys don't understand business. If I was the CEO of Microsoft I would be looking for Solutions and from what I see M$ don't have a lot of options. You FanBoys are thinking with feelings in business there are no feelings only money. The CEO of Microsoft and Board of Directors Are looking at a xbox that has been unsuccessful for 13 years. The xbox has billions in losses and no signs of a turn around. After all the success of the 360 cutting PlayStation market in half and now x1 is being out sold by PS4 2 to 1 in the USA and 3 to 1 in Europe. The only way to beat PS4 or sale more x1 is more exclusive but that cost more money and takes a long time to make . Microsoft does not have as many establish great Game studios as Sony. 360 had few exclusives and most relied on Mostly timed exclusive dlcs. The cloud is a way they can make their console more appealing to gamers we all know cloud computing can't improve graphics with the worlds current Internet infrastructure. But cloud steaming could improve graphics if Microsoft developer it cloud computing into a game stream service for free with the purchase of that game could be enhance through clouds streaming. I don't see Microsoft staying in the game consoles business. But I can see them in the cloud game streaming business Microsoft already own a huge cloud computing company azure. Also I here a lot of fanBoys saying that Microsoft is doing great and sold 3.2 million. You don't know if Microsoft are making a profit. I doubt very much they are making a profit If so the the investors would not want to sell something that is profitable. The biggest difference between Sony and Microsoft Marketing is Microsoft spend a lot of money on marketing. x1 Is out advertising PS4 10 to 1. every time I watch TV i see a x1 TV commercial.

I'm sorry, shouldn't the headline read "Xbox One may be forced into the ground"??? Cloud indeed.

cyhm31123717d ago

sorry ban me if you like, this author is really stupid, bar none. Cloud simply can't improve graphics, period.

OC_MurphysLaw3717d ago

Why ban you when I agree with you? Nonsense. Bub+

Why do you think the Cloud can't improve graphic?

Directly no, indirectly absolutely.

Example: Think about all the static things in a game (buildings, backgrounds, etc). Those things can be off loaded to the cloud. This frees up a percentage of resources on the console, so the graphics being processed locally can be improved.

kayoss3717d ago

What happen to said game with Static Cloud graphic when people for some reason(s) can not connect to the internet? You going to have parity in experiences for the same game.

iamnsuperman3717d ago (Edited 3717d ago )

Wouldn't that increase load times (since environments are not locally stored and the Internet is never constant) and interaction with the environments would get even more limited (for the same reason as before). Sure graphics would improve but the games would be taking a step backwards instead of forwards in terms of functionality

Drekken3717d ago

This guy would know because his head is in the clouds.

dcbronco3717d ago (Edited 3717d ago )

Things that are off loaded to the cloud could be stored somewhere on the console when they have been processed. Say like that 8 gigs of embedded memory that the Xbox one has in addition to the RAM. So losing the connection might not have effect for some time. 8gbs is enough space to store a lot of game. Plus people seem to always be locked in the past or present. Google just announced they were spreading to several new major cities. The current majors could do better, they just haven't because they have non-compete agreements and have divided the US amongst themselves. Outside competition will change that. In the last 15 years we've gone from dail-up to 300mbs speeds in my area. 300 never gets so bad that your game loses contact with the cloud.

I do feel for you rural folks though.

It does seem strange how MS were banging on and on about the cloud, but now when they need to actually give us some info they remain quiet.

I know there are huge changes going on at team MS, but I'm disappointed that the new lady in charge of Xbox has not made a proper public address to us gamers. No news is bad news in this case. Id rather know the vision and future road map of the Xbox One now that everything has changed since the initial reveal.

I don't like being left in the dark, especially considering I forked out over £600 since launch on the console and games. That's a pretty big investment in my books and I would like to know what is planned and when the expected arrival times are of the new services.

JeffGUNZ3717d ago

I think they are planning on games. They bought the rights to Gears, they have Titanfall exclusive, well at least the first installment, and tons of games like Quantum Break, Susent Overdrive, Halo, etc coming down the pipe. I think E3 will be a better picture of where they are currently.

Dude if sunset overdrive turns out fun then I might get an Xbox one, the trailer kinda reminded me of when I used to play ratchet as a kid

kayoss3717d ago

Cloud is a very good concept for gaming but as of now its not going to work. Internet bandwidth is not good enough across all users to handle this. Cloud be great for indie games because indie games dont use up a lot of resources and the games tends to be less tasking when compared to a triple A game.

The desperation is almost palpable.
