New production company created by Video Game Orchestra

"Having worked on major game soundtracks like Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and God Eater 2, Video Game Orchestra has made a name for itself in the industry in recent years.

Less than an hour ago, the group’s Berklee-trained frontman Shota Nakama announced the creation of SoundtRec Boston, a production company that he reportedly hopes will advance creativity in film, games and other mediums moving forward.

A track-by-track review of World 1-2: Encore

"In case videogame music remix project “World 1-2” left you wanting more, Koopa Soundworks has issued a pre-order page for its upcoming follow-up album, “World 1-2: Encore.“

For those not in the know, “World 1-2″ is a 20-track album comprised of diverse game remixes and original compositions done by such illustrious game composers as Manami Matsumae (Mega Man, Shovel Knight), Keiji Yamagishi (Ninja Gaiden), Austin Wintory (Journey) and Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill). The album also includes the work of several game music cover artists like Stemage (Metroid Metal) and Video Game Orchestra.

“World 1-2: Encore” focuses (almost) solely on videogame remixes, with several returning artists like Matsumae and Video Game Orchestra dishing out brand new remixes. The album features music from a whole slew of games, spanning titles like Metroid, Mega Man X3, Parasite Eve and even Super Hexagon.

Having given it a whirl several times, I bring you a track-by-track overlook (or review, if you must) of “World 1-2: Encore.” Get ready." - Patrick Kulikowski
