Sony's Guerrilla Games also reaches out to former Irrational Devs

It's amazing to see the industry's response to irrational shutting down. Guerrilla also has gotten involved and wants to hire some of those affected by the layoffs. Gives me hope for the future.

The story is too old to be commented.

Everyone trying to get some of that irrational magic, glad the industry is really about catering to talent rather than letting them wither away

This could actually be really cool if GG managed to snag some of the Irrational devs...because let's be honest...Killzone SF shows they could use some more talented writers.

The technical prowess of GG's existing members combined with talented writers from Irrational would make a helluva game.

Kivespussi1707d ago

I think that Killzone SF had a cool concept but it was badly executed. I was very interested in the story but it was a disappointment. If GG could get talented writers... Aww man it would be awesome

staticdash221707d ago

Why does anything with GG always turn into slander? Lmao, regardless of how polarizing their games turn out, they are always successful even if killzone is for a niche audience.

It's the same for Sucker Punch. They're on the cusp of AAA with GG, but need that extra "it"

GG definitely need good writers, hopefully they can get some from Irrational staff to work with them.
GG have lots of strong points when it comes to making games, unfortunately writing a good story isn't one of them. KZ shadow fall could have been a must have game instead of good game If they had a better story.
They make a challenging game, great art, good gameplay mechanic etc. but struggles with the story.
Well, I hope Irrational staffs gets new jobs, and GG get good writers.

I don't know about what happen at Irrational but Ken Levine does still retain some members, right? so, most probably, he keeps the best members to himself and let the extras, go, right?

bjmartynhak1707d ago

Not sure if "writers" is the best term, more someone to direct and make the scripts. Like the fine tuning. GG games are like a bad adaptation of an excellent book. The story is there, the plot is there, the lore is there, but it lacks the "it" that "staticdash22" mentioned.

But yeah, I agree. GG+Irrational guys could give a great game. I'm trying to imagine some kind of psychedelic gritty game o.O

Black-Helghast1707d ago

A story as good as the original BioShock with GG's graphics? My body isn't ready ;w;

NewMonday1707d ago

they need the writers and level designers

That's one thing I love about this industry. As volatile as it may be, everyone really looks out for each other and there's this amazing community-like feeling. When I was at Zynga and hundreds of people were laid off (including myself), companies like Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, Blizzard, EA, Activision, etc were reaching to us. My friend at Ready At Dawn tried hooking me up with a producer job for The Order :P

Unfortunately, I'm based in NYC and not ready at this point in my life and career to move out to California :(

MrSwankSinatra1707d ago

hopefully they got a writer from irrational cause holy hell do they need a couple. i know they got the writer of new vegas, another one from irrational would be a big deal.

iamnsuperman1707d ago

It's my major gripe against guerilla games. They can make games but their story telling is extremely weak.

chrisarsenalsavart1707d ago (Edited 1707d ago )

I wouldn't,t say weak but it s definitively not one of their strong point.

Lolrus1707d ago

Exactly what popped into my mind. Guerrilla Games have the technical expertise to make graphical showcases but if only they had talented storytellers. Would be a match made in heaven.

staticdash221707d ago (Edited 1707d ago )

This gives me hope :)
It seems like people are waking up to the toxic practices that's transformed AAA gaming. It's unsustainable in the long term, and maybe something like this will spark long discussions in the meeting rooms at big publishers.

jegheist20141707d ago

whats this means is bye bye bioshock welcome to sony train kiss our arse microsoft lol no more multiplats now of bioshock sderies it now sonys ip

AaronPS1707d ago

2K still owns BioShock

MegaRay1707d ago

Are you a fanboy or a stupid?
Hopefully not both

TedCruzsTaint1707d ago

Should do a little research next time.
The industry you fanboys would like to see, where only one company essentially owns all solid releases, is why I feel nice and safe on the PC. It wouldn't be a good one, but that's not going to stop you.

GG could certainly take a leaf out of their book when it comes to story telling.
