Final Fantasy XIV PS4 vs PC Maximum Settings Direct Feed Screenshot Comparison: Identical Twins

DualShockers: The PS4 version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will enter its open beta testing soon, on February 22nd, and Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida went on record multiple times saying that the port of the game on Sony’s new console shows a level of visual fidelity comparable to the PC version on maximum settings.

At long last Square Enix has shared direct feed lossless screenshots of the PS4 version, allowing a pixel perfect comparison with the PC version at maximum detail.

98% the same but clearly a bit more detail on the PC version. Foliage is slightly more detailed, distant water has more ripples and the bridge in the one pick had more moss around the bottom on the PC version.

resolution & framerates will also obviously be better on the PC. Highly unlikely the PS4 version will even maintain a consistant 1080/60 let alone 2560x1600 at 80+ fps.

This is what baffles me about pc gamers. Hey, your crappy honda civic does 0-60mph in 20 seconds. My Ferrari does it in 4 seconds! I AM WINNAR!

looks the same to me. we all know this game can do more on pc, but definitely the same in these pics. the game looks good. i wish they at least went the route of eve and wildstar where you can make enough ingame cash to pay for your subscription

it doesnt really matter performance is performance. what you can afford doesnt change the fact of whats out there. people on this site goes crazy with these comparisons about resolution and frame rate. pc has been rendering games above this for the longer. its no reason to get mad, this is old news.

I play this game every day on PC I generally play it in 1440 or 2K depending on which PC I am using. All of that said I am Beyond impressed with what has been done with this game on the PS4 console and the fact that Yoshi P says it runs at a constant 60fps at 1080p is an absolutely amazing feat. Cannot wait to see how it runs on PS4 during the Odin or Behemoth Fate..... if it sticks at 60fps or even 50fps for those fights I will be blown the heck away.

Also in the latest live letter where they dropped the PS4 trailer Yoshi P said the game is 1080p @60fps and that was due to adjustments that were made over the last few months.

That's on PC everything maxed out and still getting 60fps this game is nothing short of spectacular and probably the best MMO I have played since vanilla wow. If they can get close to that on the PS4 with this also being an exclusive this is nothing but win.

It is quite the looker, and it actually looked a bit better when it first released. Sadly, the visuals had to be toned down a bit for ARR because most PCs were struggling to run the game and they needed to port it to consoles. But honestly, the original graphics weren't THAT much better, certainly not for the performance cost.

I'd advise keyboard+mouse all the way.

Two reasons:

1: while it's true that the cross hotbar for the controller is a stroke of genius and brings parity in execution speed with keyboard + mouse, the latter gives you more space for more skills on the bars (12 vs 8)

2: having your hand already on the keyboard to chat is a lot more confortable than having to move it from the controller. You'll need a keyboard anyway if you want to communicate, so may as well use it for everything.

You're right. Especially the communication aspect is a big PLUS for the keyboard. And even if I use a headset and a mic - how many others do have one? It's just easier with the keyboard ^^

Haha to each their own. I prefer controller for this game. Moving and turning is so much better. Been rocking controller since 1.0 and can't ever go back. Sadly I don't have my PS4 setup on a desk or a table close enough/comfortable for a KB+mouse setup anyways, so controller for ps4 version for sure for me.

That is fucking amazing,.. Judging by the benchmark tool you can download,.. at 1080p on maximum you need a hell of a rig to even keep it above 25-30 fps mark,..

If it is really at 60 than PS4 is really a beast.

I'd like this one but i don't feel like paying the monthly fee... ;( But who knows, i could change my mind. I was in the beta when it released for PS3 and it was WONDERFUL! You have the feeling of playing a REAL final Fantasy, not those *CENSORED* FFXIII/XIII-2/Lighting's Failure.
I've always been a fan of the FF saga and i had lost my faith in it after FFXII (i liked it anyway, it was different but still good for me). Then i tried FF XIV:ARR and i felt that there's still hope! ;D

I recommend Pc version over ps4 for one main graphical reason, Sweetfx. The color Pallete for FFXIV is very bland in my opinion and with sweetfx i was able to cusomize it to leak truly beautiful! Might post some screenshots if ppl are on the fence.

Except the ps4 isn't capable of 144hz, nor is it capable of playing it at 3600x2025 at 60fps like my pc.

Also it's pretty much instant that you know someone is a console player on the game, they don't talk and they suck at it.

If one wants to see what PC is capable of the game has to be designed for it, but naturally games are designed and made consoles capabilities in mind. In PC gamer perspective consoles are slowing the pace of development down.

PCs are getting smaller and smaller, like Intel NUC. Broadwell based Intel NUC could already give a console experience 1080p@60, but of course gaming PCs can do much better.

My PC is my main source of Income, The work I do on it pays my bills, feeds my family. It was also a IRS Tax Write off.
