AS good as Final Fantasy, Crash, Spyro & Resident Evil are I have to admit that Metal Gear Solid is probably the best PS1 game.

PoSTedUP4088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

one of them for sure.

gt2
grandia
mgs
chrono cross
RE2
tomb raider2
Tekken2
spyro
dave mirras bmx
road rash3D
point blank

id need a top 100 tho, and still be undecided.

Tomb Raider games on PS1 are hard games to like. They have great atmosphere but I broke many a controller playing them, they can be very annoying.

Plasticgearsolid4088d ago

MGS, spyro, tekken 2

tekken 2 was way more solid as a whole then tekken 3 to me at least

blackbeld4088d ago

Agreed.

MGS is the best.
2e should be RE2.
3e GranTurismo 1.
4e FF8.
5e Tekken 2.
6e.FF7.

Resi 3 was the best for me.

You can't leave Pepsiman off a top ps1 list, although many may have not played it back in the day because it was a japan exclusive, there's no excuse now, get the rom ASAP and you'll see why it belongs in everyone's top. Fun, hilarious, and challenging. http://m.youtube.com/watch?...

I completed Metal Gear Solid when I was 6 or 7 years old, definitely one of the best games I've ever played. I also enjoyed Crash, Die Hard, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Syphon Filter and of course Time Crisis.

PoSTedUP4088d ago

die hard & time crysis... mmm hmm, indeed. point blank, judge dread and area51 too!

Jyndal4088d ago

Idk about this list.
Mine would go...

10. Battle Arena Toshinden
9. Jet Moto
8. Loaded
7. Castlevania SotN
6. Discworld
5. Final Doom
4. Soul Blade
3. Tomb Raider
2. Resident Evil
1. Final Fantasy VII

Unless we're talking loops 3+, contra does not belong on this list. Loop one I've done without losing a life.

And yes I am extremely biased as contra, super C and Contra 3: the alien wars are three of my favorite games.

Add punch out, Fester's Quest, Blaster Master, Solomon's key, and adventure island.

I cannot beat battletoads, Solomon's key or adventure island even with emulators and save states.

It's a shame to me that so few indie devs seem interested in catering to this era (split screen era) of nostalgic gaming. Many of them are interested in retro gaming, obviously, but almost all of them seem to drift either to platformers or Metroidvanias (no issue with either, there have just been so many). I'd love to see an indie dev really try to capture that late N64/PS1 through early Xbox/PS2/GameCube era of split screen gaming.
