It is unfair to see so much hate towards one more who more than anything is just trying to make a living. If you don't like what he does just don't watch him or anything. No need for all these personal attacks.

ReKoill3722d ago

Fun creators, ironic name?

Doogle3003722d ago

It's just a shame that his medium of work happens to take place in a barren wasteland called the internet. No friendlies at all out here, just bandits.
Game developers seem to be getting too big for there shoes sometimes, not ever taking criticism. It's exactly the same as WarZ all over again. The whole point of a critique is to learn where you went wrong and improve on it.
Also TotalBiscuit has nothing to gain by "Blackmailing" them. It just sounds like Fun Creator are just ashamed of their actions and trying to cover up their mistake.

Swiftfox3722d ago

I would agree—if TotalBiscuit was performing critiques on these games. These are not critiques, however, they are reviews. I understand he constantly reiterates they are not reviews calling them “first impressions”, yet I'm sure data exists showing his videos greatly influence the purchasing decisions of his viewers. If you're creating a video directly affecting consumer awareness about a product based exclusively on if the game works technically on the PC and opinion—it is a review.

A one or two hour “lets play” pointing out every issue he feels is wrong with the game without the slightest understanding of game design or artistic design is not a critique. TotalBiscuit is incapable of and lacks the tools of understanding required for in depth critique. He says it himself, he's there to entertain. He will even us phrases like “highly recommend” and “stay away from” afterwards. Not a critique. I would even say hiding behind “it's not a review” is a dodge of responsibility on his part after the above phrases.

This is not in defense of developers filing copywrite on his videos. TotalBiscuit has every right to do what he is doing and should be allowed to do so—but let's call it for what it is.

RogueSmurf3722d ago

Ah yeah. Nice way to avoid a duplicate story, just set it as an opinion piece and rehash information someone else got out first. http://n4g.com/news/1457382...

Wargrave3722d ago

I would disagree. While it does share the same sources, the last quarter to third goes into opinion that your article does not have.

I do however apologize if you feel I have plagiarized your content. That was not the aim, nor did I look at your article while writing it.

RogueSmurf3722d ago

The appropriate thing to do would have been to reference the story found on N4G as a citation, and then go into your opinion underneath that summary. I'm surprised you got this through.

Palitera3722d ago (Edited 3722d ago )

Why would he quote something he didn't read?
Your site is not the master source of the Internet.

djplonker3722d ago

He gets around 200k viewers per video and youtube pays $1.50 - $4 per 1000 views!

So he roughly gets paid $600 per video and he has 2400 vidoes thats over $1000000 from making youtube videos...

My heart bleeds for him -.-

Gearbox cuts ties with G2A because they failed to meet their demands - This is why we left G2A

"Just recently Gearbox dropped their "Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition" deal with G2A, as they failed to meet their ethics demands. Well, that's no news by now. However, we have a history with G2A. So I want to share our experience with them with you all. So here's my take on the Gearbox/G2A deal and G2A as a whole" - Robin Ek, TGG

Littil_Devil2573d ago

I've been avoiding G2A for years, so this comes as no surprise to me.

TGG_overlord2573d ago

The last time that I bought anything from them was back in mid 2015...

XbladeTeddy2573d ago

What about the limited editions? Thought it was G2A who were actually making the models...

Simon_the_sorcerer2573d ago

Hmm, that's worth looking into for sure.

TGG_overlord2573d ago

I think that one is not going to happen now, as Gearbox doesn't want to have anything to do with G2A.

XbladeTeddy2573d ago

That could cost G2A then as they must have been in production.

Gh05t2573d ago

Gearbox drops a partner over ETHICS... could they be more hypocritical?

Simon_the_sorcerer2573d ago

I never intended to buy any of their games anyways. My thoughts exactly...

TGG_overlord2573d ago

Some people believe that this was just a PR-trick by Gearbox to get sympathy buyers for their games. I don't know if that's the truth, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's the actual truth behind it all.

season842573d ago

That's exactly what I thought too.

Simon_the_sorcerer2573d ago

Wait, Gearbox? Didn't their CEO sing some anti-GamerGate song live not so long ago? Furthermore, G2A should be taken to court for their bs moves in the games industry.

TGG_overlord2573d ago

Simon_the_sorcerer@ "Hmm, that's worth looking into for sure."

- I'm going to mail Gearbox about it.

TGG_overlord2573d ago

Done and made, so I'll let you know what they told me asap.

Total Biscuit On Bethesda's Review Policy

TotalBiscuit brings you an essay video on Bethesda's recently released review policy.

Ashlen2736d ago (Edited 2736d ago )

I only watched because it was Total Biscuit. And I want to make it clear I have no love for Bethesda, they were making me mad with all their lawsuits years ago and they really lost me when they tired to push paid mods something which they have said is still on their road map (which is why they removed mods from steam workshop and put them into a workshop which they 100% control). And that said I agree with whats said here 99.9%.

The only thing he didn't cover is the troll reviews, the for clicks reviews that people post that have nothing but negative things to say because they know that's what gets clicks. And while I agree that it's anti-consumer to deny people information in some way I feel like the "unscrupulous" review sites trying to make a name for themselves are at least in part responsible. That said I still don't think the correct answer is to with hold reviews entirely and I also don't have a good solution because reviewers need to be able to feel open to give negative reviews. So if developers just blacklist anyone who says anything negative that's going down the same path that this discussion is about.

I guess all I am saying is that perhaps this is in some ways another case of a few bad apples spoiling the bunch, though not really because at the end of the day i think the whole thing is anti-consumer.

I will now talk about No Man's Sky hype for about 40 minutes

TotalBiscuit brings you a discussion on the hype surrounding the highly anticipated game, No Man's Sky.

RosweeSon2803d ago

Or I could put those 40 minutes into the game 🤔

JD_Shadow2798d ago

Which he did! Six or so days of trying to play the game before he gave up because of all the monotony.

Then again, you could actually WATCH the video and LISTEN to what he's saying instead of blindly dismissing anything and anyone who dares to criticize the game in any sort of way.

RosweeSon2798d ago

Why would I care what HE did I'm talking about ME, why would I watch a 40 minute video when a 5-10 one would have no doubt been enough, 40 minutes tho that's far too long to watch about the hype of a game who actually cares that much.... Looks at comments... No one either enjoy the game or don't but aint got time for 40 minutes of hype disscussion.

JD_Shadow2797d ago

1. He turns off comments because he doesn't approve of the lack of moderation. He has an official subReddit that can be used for that purpose, where he has more control over what is posted.

2. Doing long-form videos is his style. He's NEVER liked to do shorter videos because he goes into explicit detail about his viewpoints.

3. Maybe it's something you SHOULD make time for. Perhaps it's something that needs to be discussed in more detail. Buying into hype blindly even though we've been fooled time and time again, and not looking before we leap. How many more times are we going to do that?
