PS4 Doubles Xbox One Sales, Hasn’t Even Launched In Japan

As time rolls on and the PS4 and Xbox One populate store shelves, the continual release of sales figures become more revealing. Thanks to Microsoft’s quickly reformed draconian Xbox One always-online policies — and the PS4′s superior hardware — we all knew Sony’s console would take a sales lead. However, newly released sales figures for January show that the lead is bigger than many of us thought, and the PS4 still has not released in its home country of Japan.

Microsoft is spending hundreds of millions to try and get the Xbox One to keep up with and compete with the PS4, but all Sony does is send whatever units they can to retailers as they struggle to meet the insane demand for the PS4.

Wait till Sony starts promoting the PS4 again as we get a little further into the year

"but all Sony does is send whatever units they can to retailers as they struggle to meet the insane demand for the PS4."

Yes.

More than two months after launch and the PS4 is still sold out almost everywhere:

http://www.nowinstock.net/v...

While the Xbox One sit unsold on store shelves everywhere:

http://www.nowinstock.net/v...

After unprecedented disaster Microsoft had in revealing the Xbox One it was obvious the console was going to bomb. But this badly? It looks like even the most diehard Xbox fans in the US are giving up on Microsoft.

Without those core US Xbox fans who went out and bought 4,5 or more duplicate Xbox consoles like they did with the 360 due to the RRoD and all the other absurd hardware problems Microsoft had last gen, Microsoft is going to be absolutely destroyed this gen.

Even if Microsoft drops the Kinect garbage, does a massive desperation price cut down to below the PS4 they are still going to end up in distant last place this gen. They have given up on Japan. And the PS4 is absolutely crushing the Xbox One all over Europe.

The PS4 is going to be around 7 million by the time the Japan launch is over at the end of February/start of March. As production of PS4s continues to ramp up the PS4 could easily end up in the 15-20 million range by the end of 2014.

Rig_Master4116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

It is hard to image that Microsoft would actually dump the Kinect junk. They have spent the last three years doing nothing but trying to hype the POS.

Microsoft can't just come out with a version without Kinect because no one would buy the more expensive version. Kinect is the Justin Bieber of the gaming world - never seen anything be hated as much. Microsoft would have to completely dump Kinect.

And then they would be put in the situation where they have been dumping most of their first party developers and focusing on casual Kinect shovelware type games. All that would need to be dumped too. It would take years and years to even being to build up a reasonable first party lineup. And with investors calling for Microsoft to dump Ballmer's failed products like Xbox, Bing, etc there is no way in hell Microsoft is going to on a tens to hundreds of millions of dollar first party shopping spree.

And on top of all of this Microsoft would be left with a big ugly console that can't run games at next gen resolutions and next gen graphics. Forza had to be massively downgraded just to run at 1080p on the Xbox One. Titanfall can't run at more than 792p with outdated and downgraded graphics from the PC version.

Even the best case scenario for Microsoft is still getting destroyed by Sony.

All this effort being put in by Microsoft to getting destroyed in the console market by Sony while their core PC gaming market just saw a dramatic 10 percent drop in home computer sales.

georgeenoob4116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

Lol at hasn't even launched in Japan, but did launch in 4x more territories.

Also, it seems N4G cares so much about sales for some reason. Unless you work at Sony, how does this in any way affect your gaming experience? Before someone says "third parties won't launch titles on the platform with less sales", X1 is selling at a much more faster rate than 360 did and has a higher attach rate than PS4.

PS fans just want something to brag about. Cause unless X1 isn't selling AT ALL, you can expect every third party game multiplatform unless there's a deal involved. And knowing how rich MS is, you can expect them to be the ones making those deals.

darthv724116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

Japan should be a good launch for the PS4. once all these launches are behind them, they will be able to focus their marketing muscle on the games.

edit: george i get that you are trying to fight the good fight but it isnt worth the effort. People who have their minds made up about something are not easily swayed. That's why its better to take the high road and just accept that the competition between platform is a good thing for the industry.

As much as one side wants the other to fail, i for one dont want to see that happen. I like the platforms working hard to produce content that you cant play any other way. All the bickering and use of absolutes (such as destroy, killed, bombed) is irrelevant in rational conversation. Which is sort of why things are so irrational on this site.

its okay to accept that the ps4 is selling better than the xb1 just as its okay to accept that the xb1 will do what it can to appeal to its own users. Win/lose does not matter. Whats important is we (gamers) continue to get new and original IP's mixed in with the sequels to games we have enjoyed for years.

Despite platform loyalties we are all in the same hobby for the same reason. We like video games.

@georgenoob

1) Who cares how many territories they launched in? Israel is a territory, just as the US is. Would you say it was fair if Sony launched in only the US and Xbox launched in only Israel, because they each launched in one territory? Don't be silly. It has nothing to do with the number of territories. One company is choosing to sell less product, per territory, in more territories, while the other is trying to sell more consoles, per territory, in those markets where it is strongest.

2) If that's your stance, then why are you here? Why are you making excuses about territories? You care about sales. You just don't care what they have to say, at the moment.

3) Sales impact the direction of the product and the industry. Just look at your Xbox. See that Kinect? Thank Nintendo sales for that.

MysticStrummer4116d ago

@george - At least those 3rd party games will still look the best on PS4, while PS users will also get the benefit of the most award winning 1st party devs in the industry. Somehow we'll find a way to fight through it and have a great time with our cheaper yet more powerful console.

CernaML4116d ago

"Lol at hasn't even launched in Japan, but did launch in 4x more territories."

But it sold double in just one. Your point?

CrazedFiend4116d ago

@georgeenoob

Ok, then of the territories the Xbone has launched in, which of them HAVE they outsold PS4? Just curious.

Death4116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

There is a huge differance between selling the most consoles in the last 90 days and failure. No company has to sell as many consoles as the PS4 has to be a success. The Xbox One is selling faster than the Xbox 360 did in the same time frame. I would hardly call that failure. Microsoft doesn't have to sell the most consoles, they just need to sell enough to have a solid business model.

It's been less than 3 months since both consoles launched. I think it's a bit premature to call a winner or a loser for the gen yet.

As for the amount of territories not making a differance? That is absurd. Sony is selling in every territory Microsoft is and then many more. If you can honestly say that selling in many more territories doesn't impact sales, you clearly have an agenda.

Whiskeyjacked874116d ago

@Georgeenoob never gets tired of disagrees and never gets tired of being wrong. Your worst nightmares are coming true and you just can't seem to deal with it. If you don't care, don't comment, you make yourself look silly! Go buy a few more xbox ones to help their sales in your territory.

RiPPn4116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

@georgeenoob: All those territories that Sony launched in are territories they already slotter Microsoft in. Microsoft launching in those territories as well as Japan is barely going to put a blip on Microsofts sell through numbers. Why do you think they are tier 2 and tier 3 launch regions for Microsoft? I get it you are either a super fan or a shill and you have to spin the negative, but c'mon now, you can't believe half the BS you spew.. can you?

dantesparda4116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

@ Death

Damn, Death i was actually agreeing with you til i got to the last paragraph, then it all went out the window. While i do understand your logic, in my opinion its to simple. I think even if they Ps4 were only in the same 13 countries, the PS4 would still be outselling the X1.

Death4116d ago

Absolutely Dante,

The countries/territories that Microsoft are not in, are not place they sell well. Sony has always had a much more global appeal than Microsoft has. At the same time though, you can't say these additional territories don't give Sony an advantage. It is very possible Sony could be selling the same amount of units in less territories. We will never know though since they are already there. Surely if Microsoft were in more territories they would have more sales. Probably not to the degree Sony has though

Shiken4115d ago (Edited 4115d ago )

@georgeenoob

Yes all third party games will probably be multiplat, and PS4 gamers will have the best console versions of those titles. MS won't be able to to throw all kinds of deals around throughout the gen because software will sell better with the PS4's higher install base and they can't afford the deals you speak of as all that money you think is there doesn't actually exist in the XBox division.(after all, MS isn't going to invest much into a division that investors are pushing them to sell).

PS4 has more indie titles and more/better AAA exclusives. Before you go trying to fill people's heads with nonsense about how PS4 has "no games in dev", Infamous, MLB The Show, The Order, Driveclub, Planetside 2, and Final Fantasy XIV (anyone playing this on PS3 will go PS4 just for this game) are all AAA 2014 games that say hi. Futhermore we don't know when Uncharted will be released as it is reasonable for it to hit holiday this year as well (probably not till 2015 though).

Then we have Deep Down, Everquest Next, Everybody's gone to Rapture, and the next Gran Turismo game in dev for the future. We also can't forget about the unannounced projects that haven't been revealed by Sony's other 1st party studios. Ps4 has a line up of exclusive AAA titles that is just as good (better IMO as I prefer Sony's exclusives after owning a 360 and PS3 last gen) than MS not only for this year (very few MS games announced will actually make it out this year), but for years to come.

Lets also face the facts that MS blew their load early so the hype for those games will die down before release. Meanwhile Sony still has unannounced cards that aren't even on my list to wow the consumers and actually strike while the iron is hot. MS is desperate right now (despite a wonderful launch, the sales have dropped to a snails pace while PS4 continues to go strong) and they revealed everything for the CHANCE at short term gain while risking the long term.

At this point there are only two reasons to own an X1. If you prefer X1 exclusives (most people in this category buy both consoles anyway) or if all of your friends go X1. Other than that there is no reason to buy X1 cause not only does PS4 have equal if not more AAA exclusives in the bank, they also have more indies and superior multiplats. Both consoles have a strong exclusive line up and people have different tastes. Deal with it. No shame in siding with X1, but PS4 has the clear advantage and that is a FACT. Ignoring it and twisting FACTs will not get you taken seriously, and it trolling is your game, you were never taken serious to begin with.

Bloodbath? Massacre? Damn dude, chill out its consoles. This is pretty much what we all expected. Why do you feel the need to rub Sony's back? I just do not get it.

I mean at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if people started wearing jerseys with consoles on them. Nice to see sony doing so well, I know I account for at least one January sale...but at the end of the day I could care less about these numbers. As long as no one is going out of business, all is well.

You guys get on here and tout these numbers as if you somehow "won" against other gamers (very weird way to be). I'll be too busy playing Titanfall and Second Son.

Eonjay4116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

I tried to tell Manning the same thing. But he still took it hard. Its less fun then fighting suicidal bots in a competitive multiplayer game. Lol I kid.

You want it to stop. No one is trying to win against other gamers. These babies don't realize that we do this FOR them. They never will. When Sony fucked up, they paid the price as well. We are not slave to any company.

They will submit or they will cease to be relevant. Sony just figured it out first.

harrisk9544116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

@UncleGermrod

The reason that PS fans are all over the "numbers" this gen is because it is a complete turn around from last gen. PS3 fans had to endure XB360 fans constant ragging about console sales being higher on the XB360 (at least in US) and more software sales on the XB360 and better quality of multiplats (for a good portion of last gen, until developers got a handle on the PS3). PS3 fans had to deal with The Lens of Truth comparison videos showing one pixel better quality on XB360. Now, it is a complete reversal and PS fans should be reveling in it. MS plays dirty in their business practices, not only in the video game market, but in every market they enter into. This vicious fanboy war was started by XB fans last gen. What goes around comes around.

darthv724116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

@nix: "anyone who's been here when PS3 came out knows what it was to be a PS supporters."

While the behavior of certain individuals was very questionable and immature back then, do you really think that the behavior and immaturity of others justifies that now?

Two wrongs do not make a right. Its not karma if the end result is still the same level of immaturity just coming from a different crowd. We should be better than this as a collective effort.

congratulate those that are doing something good and productive and encouraging others that are falling behind to make improvements to better themselves and those that support them.

And yes, i am that kind of optimistic positive thinker.

@harris, when sony entered into the gaming market as the newcomer, people were very dead set against them infringing on the territory of sega and nintendo. Sony had allot to prove and did so in spite of the criticism. They worked hard to earn the respect of the gamers by making the right decisions on games to invest in to increase their foothold on the market.

MS decides to enter the gaming market and that same sentiment of criticism marred them and continues to mar them to this day in spite of how they turned their brand around with the 360. My feeling is many are more focused on the parent company than the product. Put all differences aside for a moment and look at the product and what it offers in relation to similar products on the market. The 360 worked hard to build itself as a strong brand for xbox and when you have companies like nintendo and sony giving MS respect for making such an effort then why is it so hard for the gamers to show the same respect?

The real problem in all of this are the fanboys not the companies these fanboys rally behind. believe it or not, there isnt this sort of animosity between companies like there is between fans of those companies. They can give each other props for doing good things.

Oh and fanboy wars have been going on for generations. if you think last gen was bad, it only looks that way because the internet gave a larger voice to those who wanted to yell. It was pretty bad during the SNES / genesis days as well.

WeedyOne4116d ago

rainslacker4116d ago

@darth

The reason MS still has to deal with the "proving themselves phase" is that they have actually gotten worse as a console maker. Everything they do is moving further and further away from the hardcore gamer market. This is the same reason that Nintendo has also fallen from the hardcore gamers graces.

Both MS and Nintendo still support the hardcore market to varying degrees, but it's plainly obvious that MS is more interested in pushing their own agenda, instead of just providing amazing quality games in plenty.

Sony didn't have to work very long before proving themselves. They were producing amazing games, and had amazing support almost right out of the gate due to the decisions they made early on with 3rd party licensing.

MS may have had to work harder, and for the early days, and into the early bit of the 360 era, they were often criticized unfairly. They brought good things to the gaming market. But they started moving away from the hardcore community all while waving the same few exclusives and paying for things as mundane as timed DLC instead of investing in great new IPS. Then they lost all respect from many due to the early policies of the X1. They showed their true intentions that many critics have stated were there back when no one would listen. I know, because I was one of those critics, and people ignored what I said, or laughed at me and called me a troll or a fan boy.

So, for my part, and probably for others, you'll have to forgive us if we are more than skeptical about how much MS cares about furthering the industry based on their past actions. Dangling a bunch of shiny new next gen games in front of us to tempt us to buy the system isn't enough for some of us. The reason people such as myself are willing to give Sony the benefit of the doubt is that despite a rough first year of the PS3, they have always delivered content for the gamer in abundance and variety, and have never backed off support for their consoles too early.

Microsoft better start sabotaging their own xbone's with bad code hidden in an update to get the bozos who put down money for that crap system to buy a new one and count that as new sales just as they did with the red ring of death. Their philosophy...build it like crap, the dummies will still come back. Sell four units to one customer due to failures, and count four times the sales. Kudos to you suckers who keep supporting this garbage.

Karpetburnz4115d ago

@georgenoob

The amount of territories is irrelevant,Because Sony will have less stock allocated to each region compared to Microsoft, its actually a surprise that PS4 is outselling the Xbone in the U.S because Microsoft will probably have the majority of their stock allocated there which means more sales for that territory.

See people like you want to take in the amount of countries into consideration, yet you dont want to take the ammount of stock allcoated to each region into consideration, thats just damage controlling.

frostypants4115d ago (Edited 4115d ago )

I've been saying all along that they've only been close due to demand outstripping supply for both systems briefly, but that the rate of inventory sellout at retailers reflected far higher demand for the PS4 (and thus, an impending rapid pull away from the One by the PS4 as the dust settled).

And here's why this absolutely matters: if MS is going to play the paid-exclusivity game, how much they must pay is directly tied to how much the publisher stands to lose by not selling a PS4 version. If the PS4 continues to blow the One out of the water, it will get much more difficult for Microsoft to justify paying the ever increasing cash demands for exclusivity. It's going to cost roughly twice as much to get that exclusivity than it would if the consoles were neck-and-neck. Meanwhile, if Sony decides to start playing that game, MS is screwed...because as the cost for MS goes up, it will go down for Sony, as they will have a built-in sales advantage.

In short, it's safe to say that Microsoft's paid exclusivity approach with 3rd parties is effectively over outside of any already-signed agreements. Their leverage is gone. They need to focus on 1st party studios.

If MS doesn't improve their 1st party situation drastically, Sony is going to be in a position to curb stomp them in the worst way. They know this. This is why MS is spending so much effort astroturfing for Titanfall...if it's anything less than 110% success, they are in truly deep sh*t.

I read an article the other day where some key stockholders are pressuring Microsoft to look to abandon the entertainment division which includes the Xbox. It was a shock to me but the rationale given was that while the Xbox is showing a profit, it is a small one compared to the billions that have been invested in the Xbox project and many are saying to them that they will not recoup the intial investment and that the return is to small. The article then speculated on who might want to buy the Xbox brand if it was offered. I said I could not see them doing this as if for nothing else, pride and ego will play a factor and Microsoft is not one to admit when they made a mistake. Windows 8 has been filled with issues and they still have not distanced themselves from it as an example.

JodyCones4116d ago

They're actually losing money from xbox.

Garethvk4116d ago

It was an interesting article. They cited billions spent entering the console market and developing and marketing three consoles vs the sales of said consoles and other income factors. The math said that on some fronts you can say it makes a small profit when you factor in cost of manufacturer, shipping, and ads, but loses when you factor in development costs. I would love to know if the wads of cash they throw at Activision to make sure every Call of Duty ad has their logo on it and that all DLC comes to them first is worth it. Same with tossing tons of cash to make TitanFall a MS exclusive. Is it cheaper to do that or to simply develop your own exclusives. I guess there is less risk to do this but still.

Death4116d ago

They have been making a profit in the division for years Jody. Over the life of the brand they haven't, but they have been making a significant profit for 6 or 7 years. If you look at Sony's business, they have made much less with the Playstation. Investors have been pressuring them along with key executives since the Playstation was green lit in the 90's.

Neither product should be looked at based on it's own core sales/profit. Both the Playstation and Xbox can also create additional sales in other sectors of the company. A Playstation owner is more likely to look at a Sony HDTV if they are happy with their console. An Xbox owner may be more inclined to stick with Windows platforms, etc. The losses can also be used to lower taxable income from the revenue the company receives as a whole. This is more important than many think if you look at the big picture and not just the game division.

Narutone664115d ago

famousmortimer from NeoGAF dropped a hint that Amazon is going to buy the Xbox division from MS. But it's not yet final.

darthv724116d ago

Why would they distance themselves from Windows 8? i mean perhaps the initial release (prior to 8.1) it wasnt for everyone but it certainly is nothing compared to the efforts of ME or Vista.

8.1 rectifies many issues of 8 but expands on the strengths of 7 and it has turned itself around quite well in my honest opinion. While i understand that Ms may not want to admit defeat, they arent without the ability to do so.

Zune was a great idea at a bad time. in fact there were plenty of other media players on the market that exceeded the ipod in many ways but when you have something that has taken over the collective population with the way its presented it is next to impossible to convince them there are alternatives, let alone better ones, on the market.

MS and their trying to blend the current windows experience across multiple platforms (pc, console, mobile) is not uncommon with the likes of what sony is doing with their line of tv's and phones and gaming devices. They get the criticism mostly because they are MS not that their product isnt up to par. People become so fixated on a brand that they often times lose focus on what that brand is offering and in many cases dont even give it a fair chance to impress them.

its one thing to be a loyalist but its something completely different to shun a competitive product for the reason that you do not like the company that produced it. That is insulting to the nature of competition. Every company deserves a fair chance to succeed or fail. We at least owe them that much.

Garethvk4116d ago

Win 8 to me was far worse than ME and Vista combined. I had no issues at all with Vista but 8 caused so many issues that even the head tech who worked with me for weeks on it could not fix it. They said it was issues that required further research and it caused us to lose data. So we just stayed with 7.

frostypants4115d ago (Edited 4115d ago )

Windows 8.1 may have solved some issues, but you cannot deny that from a market perspective, Windows 8 has been a disaster, regardless of how warranted or unwarranted the criticisms are. I mean for God's sake, some major PC sellers have re-introduced Windows 7 machines...

supraking9514116d ago

I've seen videos and talk a online speculating MS long game. Some think that MS multiplat move is use to appease the FTC so they can buy more and is somehow a move that could get Sony to open up their platform. In other words them going third party and letting their games go everywhere. MS possible scheme and ulterior motives, speculated by Jeff Grubb is that putting Xbox store on PS via regulation Which would hurt PS buissness very badly because that 30% cut would be even less or not a cut at all. MS buys more because they're "playing nice" by opening up its platform to Epic store and steam which would force Apple and Sony to open up their ecosystem to other stores like MS.

If that's the case that'll mean as I said before, PS fans buying Cod on PS via MS store would give 100% maybe even 90% of the money being pocketed by MS while Sony's store front wanes when it comes to third party because guess what? MS is buying more third party and preying off the extreme ignorance of the FTC. Manipulation of the FTC and MS overtaking the PS store and customers

My thing is this. I know it's a opinion and speculation but why does Sony have to open up its store or force them to go multiplat? If they still believe in selling their freakin console then let them do it. If they want to provide the best games and the best content for its fans then let them do it!? Why because the competition is trash at selling games and consoles for 14 years now Sony has to change? MS using the ignorance of the FTC to overtake gaming as we know it?

Again it's just talk and opinion but man this seems very, very possible imo.

dveio10h ago

Well, at the time, I actually did think the FTC and CMA did a poor job in court. But also the judge.

Having said that - it is what it is.

If 75bn mergers in any industry ain't a threshold to deny them, then I don't know what is.

As far as your thoughts about other 3rd parties getting taken over in the future go:

I think publisher buyouts are off the list now. I think it would be reeeeally difficult for MS to win another trial try taking over any other publisher.

But smaller studios ... maybe.

However, right now I can't see studios out there advocating for a buyout from Microsoft.

That isn't to say an announcement of such couldn't drop on Monday already. Because we today know that Microsoft had approached a plethora of other studios in 2018 to 2021, such as IOI, CD Project, etc.

We'll see. And we can't do anything about it. It's up to trade commissions and then probably courts to decide.

"I think publisher buyouts are off the list now. I think it would be reeeeally difficult for MS to win another trial try taking over any other publisher."

That's the thing MS is ticking all the boxes by not have anything be exclusive so the CMA/FTC see that they're doing "fair practice" in games and content distribution. Which technically greenlits more aquisions or it makes it easier for acquisitions because MS is a mega publisher now.

"However, right now I can't see studios out there advocating for a buyout from Microsoft."

Hopefully not but them going multiplat could entice Studios to join MS because nothing is not longer exclusive which means more money for them, studio and teams.

We can't do nothing about it but Sony can. They can block xbox games on their console (lose that 30% cut) but Sony won't do that because that's money that will be lost and Sony runs a buissness. That's the only way to hurt or slow down Xbox.

I'm probably over thinking it as I do these things but it's something we shouldn't just ignore and be weary of MS motives here. I'm keeping an eye on them.

The idea that Microsoft is manipulating the FTC and forcing Sony to open its platform is silly and has no evidence to back it up. Microsoft’s multiplatform approach is 100% due to past failures and its laughable position in the gaming industry. Their best attempt was a fluke and a lie, brought on by Sony’s missteps and a poorly made machine that broke down too often.

Sony would never allow themselves to be "forced" to do anything; they control their platform and storefront perfectly fine without the need or desire to add an unnecessary Microsoft storefront. Even if, by some flaw on Sony’s part, Microsoft were able to introduce its store on PlayStation, Sony would adapt rather than collapse. Digital storefront competition already exists (Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox Store), and PlayStation’s business won’t suddenly "wane."

Also, regulators like the FTC don’t operate on ignorance—they actively assess market behavior to prevent monopolies. Microsoft isn’t secretly overtaking gaming with some ultimate scheme. The industry might be changing or shifting (for the worse, in my opinion), but Sony will continue evolving based on market trends, not because of alleged schemes.

Gaming isn’t about one company "playing nice" or another being "forced" to change—it’s about making money with games, something Microsoft has yet to achieve in 25+ years.

That's why I said it was all speculation that's what Jeff Grubb opinion. I made that clear several times. You know what's funny? When Jim was in court ppl got mad at the FTC for protecting Jim Ryan instead of the consumer. Maybe he was right to worry about his business. Now look Releasing Xbox games on PS keeps MS studio an a float. Now Xbox games are all over PS now. Maybe Jim was onto something.

MS is still competing with Sony just in a very different way. The FTC back down mainly means they can buy more and MS next steps can proceed. We'll have to see what happens in the future but I wouldn't be so sure on your stance.

@Lightning77
MS putting games everywhere is the most consumer friendly thing I've seen a game company do.

@InUrFox

What does "putting everywhere" actually mean?

This book has so many pages.

• Xbox was dying in revenue
• Regulators put a 10 year deal on CoD
• Microsoft had to give away the streaming
• Spencer himself only offered 3 yrs initially

And most importantly

• Again, Xbox was dying in revenue

Xbox have the benefit of their actual financial situation giving regulators and courts the impression they release games everywhere, what they actually do.

But for reasons they can't be proven guilty of anything in court.

I'm not judging, it's just what it is.

IF the Series generation would have developed differently and was much more successful, I don't hesitate any second to believe in what Spencer had originally planned to do:

• Make everything Xbox exclusive
• We today know that Spencer had also approached Sega, From Software, CD Project, Nintendo, and even Valve was on their list of buyouts.

MS are playing a card here everyone knows why they are doing it.

Putting Doom "everywhere", which even was it already before it got bought, ain't a MS thing.

It would had hurt them in many ways if they'd put it exclusively to Xbox.

But, no matter what - it is what it is.

Xbox bought themselves back into the game. And I think many people just don't have very fond feelings towards this behaviour, wether on corporate nor private levels.

Let's see how they'll run with it.

In 2030, but most importantly after regulations will have expired we will learn better.

Seemed like a lost cause anyway. Microsoft gambled and it paid off big time. That's what you call a big boss move. Sony played a huge part in the success of that acquisition.
