PC gamers sure are in small number and clearly dont give developers money

Neixus3728d ago

Why is it so hard for people to see that LAWSON72 is obviously using a thing called sarcasm?

Azurite3728d ago (Edited 3728d ago )

Translates poorly over the internet.
Or maybe you were being sarcastic?

Panthers3728d ago

It doesnt translate poorly when its laid on that thick.

Ghoul3728d ago

its an unwritten rule that sarcasm hardly works in written form

kingduqc3728d ago

backers paid an average of around 100$ People forget that crowd funding get 5 times more money then a console game sold per copy.

4ShotKing3728d ago

Yep us PC gamers never buy games either, we only torrent games XD

I really hope this game turns out well. $38 million is alot but its pennies when considering the scope of star citizen. Im cautious but optimistic...and here's to hoping it sees a ps4 in the future.

Panthers3728d ago

The problem with kickstarters is that I feel like I would be giving money to someone who might know games, but doesnt know money and people management. You throw money at a developer so he can hire more people and get better infrastructure, but if he has no game plan then it can all fall apart fast.

Talidan3728d ago

I am in the process of developing a game and would like to avoid Kickstarter, due in part to this issue.

I have no plan other than to make a game, but it is indeed costly and I know I'm just not the kind of person who can organize well enough to feel responsible with people's money in that way. I mean, I am good with money. Like damn good. I can can calculate any budget in a scary accurate way, but it's usually my money or my family's money when they need the help.

But I just would not want to trust myself with the money of dozens, hundreds, maybe thousands of people.

If there was run-away success with a Kickstarter, the first thing I would do is hire someone to help manage everything and put together a proper plan, but I'd rather avoid any possibility of that right now and focus on the making my game.

What I am doing right now is making a proof-of-concept demo and making it as good as possible, with all the technical (not visual) workings as close to finished as I can and then releasing that. If people seem genuinely interested, I'll move on from there.

blackbirdi3728d ago

i never saw somebody more greedy then chris roberts and tim schafer they never get enough money and what they release as a final product is a crap just check the lates game from double fine its really a shame for a game with 4 million dollars budget

Conzul3727d ago

Bullshit. It's great to see Roberts get his revenge after M$ pulled Freelancer out from under him. It was his dream, and now the people who respected it have given him the tools to make it happen. And look at it now...

WHOOOO, that 3rd screenshot gives me the nostalgic shivers.
Planet Malta, Omicron Alpha, anyone? XD <3

oODEADPOOLOo3728d ago

I really hope once this finishes for PC that they can eventually port it over to consoles looks amazing!

General Shrooms3728d ago

That would be nice, but that 38 million was pledged by pc gamers for a pc game.

kingduqc3728d ago

There won't be a Port, just get it on pc or don't play.

oODEADPOOLOo3728d ago (Edited 3728d ago )

Yeah right... Star citizen would be making cash/ and even more marketshare for days if they expand and the new consoles can handle quite a bit. While nothing would be dumbed down if it cant handle it, if it can its most def coming to PS4. While I get some Douche PC players dont like that another platform could get it(Ironic considering their hate for console excluisves). Seeing a game this epic expand would be amazing and it would get alot more praise. And as for having a PC? heres proof: http://steamcommunity.com/p...

Christopher Roberts:
"As far as consoles go Star Citizen will never be on the PS3 or Xbox 360. As for the next gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One, we have NO CURRENT PLANS, but my stance remains open and is consistent with the many interviews I’ve given -

IF the platform holders (Sony & Microsoft) allow us to update the code and data without restrictions and odious time consuming QC procedures, IF they allow our community to openly interact with each other across platforms then I would CONSIDER supporting them.

Why?

Well because then they are essentially inexpensive small form factor PCs with a custom operating system focused on gaming and who wouldn't want a bigger community of Star Citizens? If Sony or Microsoft are willing to let their platform be open, then I see no real difference between them or Valve’s Steambox, a Mac or a PC running Linux, all of which are platforms that I don’t think this community would mind supporting as they are all viewed as “PCs”. In fact most Macs are probably much worse gaming machines than a next gen console (as Apple is the antithesis of what I love about PCs)"

@Gamerdog.

PC gamers don't hate console exclusives. They hate it when console fans kept shoving the exclusivity in their face while saying that the PC doesn't have any. They repeatedly said that's the main reason for them to choose console over the PC.

When the PC does get an exclusive title...console fans will wait for it to be ported to their consoles. Imagine if Star Citizen was Kickstarted and set to launch two years ago, long before nextgen consoles even whispered of existing, I wonder what console fans will say about the PC exclusivity? I'm sure they'll pile a whole list of console exclusives to counter that one PC title with a dash of gameplay vs graphics argument. Now that they have next gen consoles, they avoided pulling out that list and hope that Star Citizen will get ported eventually.

Unfortunately if Star Citizen do get ported to next gen consoles then it will only strengthen the need to NOT get into PC gaming, especially with this new campaign of calling the PS4 being the best multiplat device.

Consoles are praised for having exclusive titles but when PC gets one, it's told to be generous and share it with everyone across multiple platforms. There's something with that picture.

Personal Hangars sound brilliant for what is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious games in the galaxy.
.
And worth it too, you only need to make a $10,000 donation…
.
..to get on the waiting list.

Knightofelemia33d ago

Just a giant blackhole simulator sucks up everything in sight really loves money from the fools.
