I think the game will be good but I get what sknygy is saying. It seems the Big N has Retro working on nothing but DK. I would love to be proven wrong and have them working on something epic behind closed doors.

2 DK games is alot? Retro wanted to work on DK, and I doubt Nintendo is forcing them to do it considering they let them work on 3 Metroid Prime games which weren't big sellers.

I do wish they could work on a new fresh IP.

It's one of Nintendo's consoles greatest advantages: backwards compatibility. If you do have a Wii U, you can play Wii's DKC Returns and you won't miss anything. DKC Returns is a great game and deserves to be played even after you play Tropical Freeze.

Yeah I was thinking about getting it on the 3DS rather than the Wii but I have that many games to get through at the moment ill pick it up down the line but have this one on pre order.

The Wii version runs at 60 fps vs 30 fps on the 3DS plus some small fps drops, that being said i have the 3DS version and it's still very enjoyable.

I know I just have too many games to get through at the moment. I have Windwaker HD, Pikmin 3, Mario 3D World. luigiU, Forza 5, KI, Fifa 14, BF4, Sonic lost world and Splinter Cell to finish off as I don't have enough to game like I have in the past lol.

I like this magazine, i was buying it in the very past years....86% means that the game is a must buy. And if you have not a Wii U then the console is a must buy too....

Looking forward to this game, but now can we have Retro work on a fully rendered 3D game. I have had enough Great 2D platformers the past 4 years. NSMB/NSMBWii U /Luigi, Rayman, Donkey Kong. Let the Indies do the 2D and let Great Studios Like Retro(not that indies are not great,but you know what I mean) work on the big guns.

I want a platformer that I can openly EXPLORE.

You will miss out on a bunch a great games based on someone else's opinion. Some games that scored in the 90's I thought deserve 60's or 70's and there are games that scored in the 60's and 70's range that I thought deserved 90's.

Wow, you must have a low collection of games then. Tearaway, Dark Souls, Pikmin 3, and Catherine also have 80+ on metacritic. You can't tell me these games are disappointing.

This game is also difficult which is not everyones cup of tea.

it doesnt have to be 90+ on metacritic. but it would at least have to have 90+ scores from the sites i respect.

i havent got the time or money or blow £35-40 on an average game. neither do i want a poor collection.

of course there are times when i will buy a game regardless of the reviews, but generally, i try to keep it 90+ AAA games.

on the wii i had a large collection of games using this rule.

personally, i wouldnt get this game. not based on the score alone, but simply because its too much of the same- ie donkey kong returns only came out a few years ago, this is overkill.

but regardless, this is the big game for wiiu early this year, and 86 is not the sort of score i would expect.

There hasn't been alot of DK games. How is it overkill? This is the 5th game in the Country series. Compare that to the many sequels that have come out that are new series. A lot of people take the series for granted, I believe. It took the fast pace platformer like Sonic but did it right. In the old Sonic games, while you were fast you still had to stop at certain points. In DKC, you can play through every level without having to stop except for the boss fights. You can see that sort of style in the new Rayman games. You are always on your toes at all times.

Its not the same, its doing what a sequel has been doing since the dawn of time. Its adding to the experience of its predecessor. Every direct sequel has done this. You shouldn't skip this game because a score is below a 90. Gameinformer gave it a 9.25, also. DK deserves your time.

Because Nintendo using one of its mascots is not allowed nowaday, it is not mature and new enough, seriously guys... getting a new IP, which is basically a FPS again, is so new and refreshing... Now, because we had a DK game like 3 years ago, it is already overkill...

It is just a trend right now, to show off nintendo, doesnt matter, if the others are even worse in that department. But keep telling yourself, that MS and Sony do so much different things and do not release games for its console, which almost yearly get renewed^^

And this is the problem with our gaming society these days. People are conditionjed to see the score something receives and base their buying decision on that metric alone. Its a dangerous precedent because review score are so easily swayed by money. If a publisher pays comapnies to review their games well they can get away with anything because they know people are only buying based on the review scores. Call of Duty for example. Same thing year after year but still reviews good in the mainstream press, creating high meta-scores and big sales. Kinda sad what this industry has become, sales relying on meta-scores and all that.

If you ask for 100 people who love mc Donalds food to review mc Donalds food, they're gonna give it a great score. Doesn't mean its the best though. A good many reviews are bought and paid for. Basing purchase decisions only on review scores and saying you only get the best games is just wrong. U are limiting urself to what mainstream says is th best. Its the top 40 version of video games and its what's wrong with the industry. So much focus on scores because they know that's all many gamers look at these days.

All these DK haters should be abolished from playing video games altogether. The kind of disrespect to the legendary Donkey Kong Country series that I see around the net is an atrocity! Yall are some brainwashed tools thinking DK games arent fun and are too similar and that Retro's talent is being "wasted". Anyone $h!tt!ing on this game deserves a bigg ole' DK slap upside their dome! Game looks incredible and looks more enthralling than all of the Xbone/PS4 games out now combined!

Most gamers, because of "time", are younger ones. They did not grow up with DK during times, were nothing else and nothing better existed. They grew up with their bigger brother playing GTA and CoD and Halo and started to play with these games and feel super mature because of that and like they are some kind of superior gamer, even though half of them still wear diapers.

Especially those young ones have no respect, especially on the internet, were they do not show their faces. This is why the gamingcommunity often seems like it is full of little dictators, who insult others, because they dont have anything else in their life other than their mature games and watching porn all day.
