Project spark is an incredibly power set of tools. I can't wait to play around with it.

Project Spark has incredibly impressive creation possibilities more so than even lbp or Minecraft. At this stage though it's suffering from the same problem in that mostly everything from the community looks the same flavour as was the case for lbp- you can totally get away with it in MC. There's a limit to using the same characters too and although there are ways to creatively bypass this, it wont stop a flood of essentially the same thing a million times- who honestly wants to see the same characters with the same animation routines in so called entirely different unique experiences . Amazing software and hats off to the team but despite my initial first impressions way back when It looked potentially Mineraft beating, the team is perhaps not understanding it's own product here. It could be potentially staggering though if they do. That said ms are rather hoping this does capture a big audience, one that craves for content offered by the packs. It's a big ask though I think

It's worth mentioning that a lot of Minecraft's lure comes from imagination alone and it's here Project Spark undoes a lot of it's own magic by effectively shattering the illusion

You mention the "same animation routines" but I don't know if you're aware that Project Spark lets you record your own animations on Kinect and transfer them to characters.

Yeah of course and that's great but it still doesn't hide how its going to feel the same outside of that still. Truth is I'll go for an abstract approach anyway every time so I wont be using presets. Others mostly will however and the community I'm willing to bet grow tired of this. I guess we'll have to wait and see

Spark looks really cool and has a lot of potential, but recreated commercial VIA spark isn't nearly as cool as they think it is
