PS Vita Slim Review | Expert Reviews

There's a new PlayStation Vita on sale, known as the PS Vita Slim or the PCH-2003, at first glance it looks simply like a slimmed down version of the original PS Vita, certainly nothing revolutionary.

More proof that pretty much everyone who tries the Vita loves it.

TomShoe4109d ago

To all the people that yell "DAT OLED" just try this for 2 months, you'll love it.

Dragon's Crown is incredible looking on the Vita - in addition to being an incredibly good game.

Killzone Mercenary also look amazing on the Vita. Have to keep reminding myself that I'm playing on a handheld.

Absolutely love my Vita:

The screen in amazing.
The dual sticks feel just right.
The interface has very refined and elegant feel to it.
The variety of new Vita games, smaller PSN titles, plus PS1 titles(especially RPGs)

The memory cards are a bit expensive is really the only negative I see for the system.

And the PS4 integration is only going to make the Vita that much better.

Waiting to try a Slim & compare it with the regular.

I've already got my Vita games list going so I am getting one, just not sure which.

My One complaint I have of the 10 minutes I spent at Gamestop with a Vita was that the buttons are too small.

The PSP buttons feel much better.

O and lower memory card prices.

You can get a 64 GB card for 3DS for $30

I love my Vita but Sony needs to lower the price of the damn memory cards.

Otoshigamisama4109d ago

agree @captainexplosion the steep price of the damn memory card is really pissing me off and don't get me wrong I have two vitas Oled and LCD and love them both so much, like @BigFnHooters wrote its really a negative and the other is lack of localization plans there are plans but still lacking there are so many games that are missed by everybody outside of Japan,

After reading the so called "Expert Reviews" review on the Vita slim I can see this person does not know how to review. Giving something 5/5 does not suggest a perfect
it IS perfect. (check out how the screen quality was mentioned...)
(could have went 4.5/5 or any decimal point below a 5)
Vita owners can see that this is pure crap! everything on the screen seems washed out!

The size was never an issue as handhelds are not smartphones. Sony just thinks they can jump on the same bandwagon with "Thin" but skimp out on the screen.

Or they are just trying to save money on the cost, somethings needs to be sacrificed to save some money. Stop making it sound like it is a major downgrade, it may not be as pretty. But it is still a damn good looking screen. Better then any other handheld on the market that isn't a phone.

That's almost as bad as a guy telling me to take the ugly girl on a double date...
No, I don't think so, buddy!

The first thing when you play a game is
VISUAL! you want those visuals to be 100% crisp and display the games as they were meant to be played... (with an OLED screen.)
you can take your money and buy a 2nd place product. I want the best that Sony has to offer, its simple as that.

They officially stated that they changed the screen to make it slimmer!
It was not broken! The size was just fine! The screen was the best screen you could game on!

In reality they wanted to save money on a unsuccessful product. Sony is bleeding money and for the past 5 years they have been cutting the fat!

It is what it is. A loss in visual quality. You can not spin that left or right.

Sorry Mr. High class, High roller.

Cryptcuzz4109d ago

Is the slim available in the states yet?

Cryptcuzz4108d ago

I wonder what's taking them so long to release here.
Is it because they are focusing more in regions where the Vita is more popular?

Maybe they are trying to coincide with a somewhat re-launch of the handheld later this year with drastically lower memory cards and bundles?

I wish right.

Immediately thought of the El Dorado zombie dudes in Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

Not necessarily a ‘horror’ moment, but I remember feeling really tense and anxious when the Flood were first introduced in the original Halo. I never felt more on edge or nervous in that whole game as that moment. I think it was the whole buildup that something terrible was coming but you didn’t know exactly what.

Another non-horror game that had me feeling it was Subnautica. The deep dark depths, and knowing that sea monsters were lurking nearby, had me jumping at every sound.

Original Ridge Racer arcade classic coming to PlayStation in June

This will be the first time the original 1993 arcade Ridge Racer has appeared on home consoles.

I hear rumors that Evercade may also be getting a Namco Arcade cart with RR and Tekken on it. That would be sweet as their previous Namco Console carts have also recently been updated to work on the VS. Previously, they only had the license to the handheld. so the OG Evercade and the EXP and even the Alpha were supported, but not the VS.

Am i the only one that wants a Ridge Racer Type 4 Remake?
