I am one of the very few who has no interest in Nintendo IPs it seems. I like what third-parties, Microsoft, and Sony have done as far as distancing themselves from Nintendo IPs.

Those are the kinds of people you expect nintendo to sell Mario to.
Anyone who still cares about games like Mario, either already has a Wii U, our is waiting for a few more specific games to release with/or a lower price to the system before investing.
Mario on playstation wouldn't work, you're only fooling yourself if you think otherwise.

A change of console wouldn't change what Mario is; a bright, colorful platformer that they wouldn't want to play due to it not being "mature enough" for their tastes.
Mario's best chance of good sales is, and will always be, on Nintendo consoles, where performers like his are expected and do best.
The wii u's sales troubles(which are temporary) do not change that.

Typical Nintendo fanboys are always talking about how non-Nintendo games have poor gameplay and how non-Nintendo gamers only care about graphics and shooters. They have no choice. Compared to other consoles, their system of choice is lagging behind.

Maybe if they removed their heads from out of Nintendo's ass and learned to diversify, they'd have a better appreciation for other games and genres.

Hell no, gameplay over graphics alllll day I still play 8-bit, but as far as 3-D gaming goes, I do love me some shiny graphics. Who doesn't?? It's a fact, you're all just obsessed with the idea of owning a Nintendo console and games to see that the hardware is just straight up crap, the UI is terrible, online network infrastructure completely lacking to this day, literally NO third party support, why continue? And I say this about the CURRENT Nintendo.

If Iwata never gets fired and they sink their ship to the Earth's core, then why not let them crash and burn and go multiplatform?

The Wii U has enough power for Nintendo's vision of gaming. Super Mario 3D world is amazing. Zelda U will be even better and should show off the gamepad.

Talking about nostalgia: you should check out the Wii U virtual console. It has a tons of retro games. Realy no consoles comes close to offering what the Wii U has. It's plays new nintendo games, BC with Wii games, & virtual consoles has games all the back to 1983. All of this can be accessed with the gamepad, which is very convenient.

His opinion was based on the thought of it being developed on the PS4.
That sort of open statement encompasses more than just graphics, and I'm positive that without the game pad and Nintendo's teams working on architecture they're familiar with, with no one from any other company standing over them trying to change things, the games would simply not be as good.

Nintendo has their own style; a style that is reliant upon Nintendo's own systems supporting said games.

Playing better is down to design, and no one could design a Metroid or Zelda game as good as Nintendo's teams.
To stay good, these franchises need to stay with Nintendo. To suggest that they'd be better off elsewhere is a horrible thought that completely ignores all the points above on top of the fact that consoles are practically defined by their exclusives these days.

Without exclusives developed in-house, Nintendo wouldn't have all the success they do in their past, and the same holds true for the exclusives developed around the other consoles, to a degree.

So yeah, console IS relevant. I'll state as much as many times as I need to; Zelda and Metroid would not be as good as they are without Nintendo leading their creation, and if they were suddenly given away, it would only degrade the franchises.
It'd be like taking away Infamous and Halo and trying to stick them on the Wii U; they wouldn't sell, they wouldn't be developed right by Nintendo's teams, and the audience for those games[the ones that are sane anyways] wouldn't support such a change.

Zelda and Metroid should never be thought of as being better off on any other console.
