PS4 Owner receives Electric Shocks, Asks If He Should Exchange Console

You know that moment when you're tapping away at a faulty piece of electronic equipment, getting electric shocks, and you're not sure whether you should keep tapping or return it to the manufacturer? PSN user Bogusm had that very problem with his PlayStation 4 and, rather than take it back to the retailer to be exchanged for a working console, he took to the PlayStation forums hoping to get advice on the issue.

More like he loves his console so much he is willing to suffer physical pain to play it, but seriously he needs to exchange that console.

It's Winter, 9/10 it's because his home is dry and static is building up. Buy a humidifier first, and that will likely solve the problem.

Seraphim4111d ago

ABizzel1: agree. Was just thinking last time I hit eject at a friends I got a major static shock. Because it's Winter that's my first guess if there is a problem. Assuming this isn't some strange defect my words of wisdom would be buy a humidifier and/or eject the disc from the controller. What a complete idiot though.

No one wants to potentially go weeks without their brand new next gaming console. It's something people always think about before returning faulty merchandise.

DarkAzureIIIX4110d ago

With a feature like that why would you return it?

Only the truly devoted may play next-gen.

Your faith is weak.

Clearly one is not worthy, if they are unwilling to walk through the fire. *namaste*

That depends; If it's life threatning you should make your way to the nearest ER immediately! Don't worry about contacting the police, since we here on N4G know of the incident, we will send them to Hospital after giving them our statements. Also depending on the outcome, that is if you know.....survive! I have no problem being a material witness if decide to file legal actions, but first thing you need to do is file an restraining order! It's always good to have something on paper.

Now if the incident was non life threatning, give your PS4 a firm but commanding rap on it's casing and carry on.

Lol.

fenome4111d ago

If he has to ask, I say he should keep it. Natural selection, population control, survival of the fittest and all that good stuff

FamilyGuy4111d ago

Aye man, you gotta think about this logically.
How hard will it be and how long will it take to get a replacement PS4?

Avoiding the headache of trying to find another might be worth the pain.

johndoe112114110d ago

Yes, disarm it and return it immediately, that thing is dangerous and should be gotten rid of forthwith. Seeing that you're injured, allow me to have the honor of returning it for you. I'll come by and pick it up right now. Where exactly do you live?

SilentNegotiator4110d ago

My Ps4 attacked me with mustard gas...should I send it in for repair?

rainslacker4110d ago

You probably deserved it. That's what you get for putting Forza in the drive.;)

Impossible a ps4 would cause that. Maybe static he had on him carpet on the floor. But nit the console it self. They test consoles for that plus the ps its self grounded.

fenome4108d ago

It's actually not grounded, it only has a 2 prong plug-in. If it had 3 it would be grounded.

i get a static shock sometimes when grabbing the controller or touching the on/off buttons on the ps4, but i also get shocked from touching light switches in my house. It's wintertime here and it's extremely dry in our house so whenever the humidifier is off it makes everything zap crazy.

Immediately thought of the El Dorado zombie dudes in Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

raWfodog31m ago(Edited 26m ago)

Not necessarily a ‘horror’ moment, but I remember feeling really tense and anxious when the Flood were first introduced in the original Halo. I never felt more on edge or nervous in that whole game as that moment. I think it was the whole buildup that something terrible was coming but you didn’t know exactly what.

Another non-horror game that had me feeling it was Subnautica. The deep dark depths, and knowing that sea monsters were lurking nearby, had me jumping at every sound.
