Japanese Sales Charts: PS Vita Sales Increase by 150 Per Cent Year-on-Year

It’s the console that everyone loves to kick, but the PlayStation Vita is actually on the rise in Japan right now. Media Create statistics show that Sony’s flagship handheld format is the only device to build upon its early 2013 sales, with the diminutive device seeing an impressive 150 per cent upswing in popularity year-on-year.

You would think with this rise (PSV sales in JPN have increased every year since launch) that more of the major publishers would bring some games to the device.

I cant believe SE is missing out on an FF for the PSV... that would sell well. for example.

japan gets more games than everyone else, 'cant say off hand how many (if any) are from major publishers.

and SE is remaking a FF and i think there were thoughts of bringing FF12 as well; seems like its still to early to tell if the vita is a failure or not, so most devs are still just testing the waters.

I believe the reason for the lack of support or interest in Sony bringing more games to the Vita is Playstation Now. They will strongly push the service on the Vita.

Well, FF X/X-2 is the beginning and it sold well on Vita. I'm sure SE will make another FF for Vita.

Final Fantasy VI remake would be a killer app for the Vita, unfortunately I doubt it'll happen due to the game not being very popular in Japan and if it happened, its more likely to happen for the 3DS than Vita (cheaper to make on the 3DS)

Just bought FF Tactics and FF V in the US PSN Final Fantasy sale just a few minutes ago ( last minute, lol).

Im happy with the Vita now. Its my ultimate FF machine. Cant wait for FFX in March! Hopefully SqEnix brings over FF type 0 already!

So basically it is not trailing by full multiples anymore in weekly sales. Unlike PS3 vs 360 with PS3 still having a 51 to 1 sales ratio despite the fack that most everyone that wants a PS3 already having one.

... it's the same in either case. "Percent" is literally "per cent" combined. And "per cent" means "for every hundred."

Therefore, fifty percent= fifty per cent= fifty per hundred, or fifty out of every hundred.

Percentages are nice but give me some NUMBERS. Is it that hard? Honestly sonyneeds to focus a bit more in the US. Get a proper COD title and get 2K and other sports games on it. At least tgats what my friends say anyway.

what does the Vita has in Japan that doesn't have in the west.... games, specifically exclusive retail games..... bring those to the west and you'll see the sales increase
