Well this is lame, really hope it's just a software issue and nothing major.

Looks like gpu. I know ps fans wont like this but this its the sane issue that cause the rrod on xbox 360 and the ylod kn ps3. Chip need re balling.

truefan14106d ago (Edited 4106d ago )

Yea this is a big problem, and I think it all boils down to the design of the ps4. The power of the console with an internal power supply is just too much in a compact case. Overheating was a major problem last gen, hence why I love the open "vcr" design as fanboys call it. I hope this isn't a widespread issue, but I think the worst is still to come.

@Nekroo91 It's funny you call them both retarded. Yet, your grammar is god awful. I could seriously type better with my toes.

hollabox4106d ago (Edited 4106d ago )

@Nekroo91

If I'm not mistaken the audio DSP circuitry is built into both XB1 and PS4 GPUs so yeah that makes sense to me along with display corruption. I don't know if the USB controller is built into PS4 APU as well, but I can see Sony doing so since all next gen uses MPU/SOC/APUs to control cost. If the GPU is overheating its only logical for one third of the chip to affect the rest of the processor.

k3rn3ll4106d ago

@hollabox sorry accidentally hit disagree on ur comment. I do agree

@necro-
Gpu problemsn can cause a number of components not to work when gpu is under heavy stress and not funtioning properly. People should not get so defensive and attack others who may know more about problem than you just because u don't like what it means for you. Also to say that the 2 aren't related as your looking at proof of them occurring simultaneously is not logical at all. If it can be software causing both to malfunction why couldn't it be hardware because there is obviously an assett using both. Especially since there is a speaker in the cobtroller so usb function and audio can definitely be ralted to gpu if said gpu controls some function of audio.

LonDonE4106d ago (Edited 4106d ago )

on battlefield 4 the grid like artifacts which appear are just graphical errors, i get them too from time to time!

Its when you set the network smoothing factor to 0% like i have that you occasionally get this error, but its only on the map screen, i have NEVER GOTTEN ERRORS IN GAME! so if it was a gpu problem surely it would occur in game since bf4 is practically the most graphically advanced game on the next gen systems at the moment!
The game does warn you when you turn network smoothing down that graphical errors may occur!

This is a known problem, and has threads about it in battlelog, what kind of website does not check the forums on the websites of the games before making a article like this trying to portray the ps4 in a negative light?

Everyone should have network smoothing on 0% for bf4, it makes a HUGE difference!
With regards to the other game, who knows, i have never had any problems with killzone sf!
Either way i so hope this is not a gpu problem!

Always fine it funny how articles like these make it seem like most of the users are experiencing it. I have two ps4's and haven't had a problem with them at all. This issue might be minimal and I thank God that when it comes to issues like these my consoles don't have to go through them.

hollabox4106d ago

Not seen this issue on my PS4 but I have received random error codes, normally unplugging the power for a minute fixed most non network errors. My biggest gripe about the PS4 is that damn controller battery life, and light. I was thinking about buying another one but I think its best to wait until they come out with a revision probably later this year.

"Always fine it funny how articles like these make it seem like most of the users are experiencing it. I have two ps4's and haven't had a problem with them at all."

It's funny you say that then once sentence later say you're not having problems as if that accounts for the majority of other users.

hollabox4105d ago

I can only imagine the PS4 APU looks something similar to this on the GPU end

Overall probably something like this

Kriandis4106d ago

This is the main reason that I no longer buy consoles at launch.
Couple this with the fact that there is usually very few games at launch, I would rather wait it out and let them get all the issues worked out, and more games in the pipe.

Tsar4ever014106d ago

AWWWWW Man, Hardware issues, Software issues. Growing pains, Growing pains....Anybody remembers the early years of the ps3? It'll be fixed.

But anyways, Aww SUX!!!

Gamer19824106d ago (Edited 4106d ago )

Why is it when 1 person gets a unique problem these days its massively blown out of proportion? Soon as one guy with a ps4 reports a new problem you get a ton of ps4 haters claiming they have the same issue even though they don't own it so people on the net think its a widespread issue and the same goes for xbone too. Why can't people just enjoy there consoles any more instead of spreading crap like this?

The sad thing is though instead of making the other console look better e.g. the xbone or ps4 your actually making PC look better as it doesn't suffer form these issues and if they do its DEFINITELY an individual problem or software related.

Reminds me of when a NES cartridge glitches at start-up.....

Neonridr4106d ago

lol, I used to always try to play through the glitches. See how far I could get in a game before it became unplayable.. XD

aragon4106d ago

Miss those days, pull it out and blow lol

Kidmyst4106d ago

I used to have to fold a piece of paper and wedge it between the cartridge and housing until the contact was just right so the glitching stopped. LOL, oh those fun days of cleaning the connectors and cartridges.

malokevi4106d ago

It got to a point where I would just jump on the console itself to get it going. Needless to say, it doesn't work anymore.

Bdub20004106d ago

Yes, please pull it out and blow. LOL...

lawgone4106d ago

@aragon...You're really opening yourself up for some jokes with that comment LOL

k3rn3ll4106d ago

I had a friedn who used to swear up and down that licking small board at end of cartridge would fix his issues lol

Omegasyde4106d ago

I am conflicted as I had a friend with an NES and all of his games worked for months on end without having to blow on the bottom of the cartridges.

For my games - you had to blow out the end of the games. Eventually 2 of my cartridges went out
Guerrilla war and Contra yet worked in my friend's NES.

It never made sense to me, but then again I was really young and liked to flick boogers at people.

Tru_Ray4106d ago

The blowing didn't always work though... I had a fool-proof technique. I would pull the cartridge out slightly so that it would just graze the front panel of the cartridge when the tray was depressed. Worked like a charm!

AndrewLB4106d ago

Yea. except you could fix your NES by removing the cartridge, blowing in it, and re-inserting it.

Like I mentioned earlier in this thread, this is a textbook case of a DEFECTIVE GPU. Hopefully it doesn't end up being like the HUGE nvidia G82 fiasco where millions of windows laptops and MacBook Pro's all got fried, my Dell XPS M1530 included. that was in 2009 and for about a year or so, everything seemed fine. then a few complaints began trickling in, then it became too many to be a "isolated incident", then all hell broke loose and the flood of bad chips began.

here are some screenshots of the nVidia G82 GPU's dying.

Kavorklestein4106d ago (Edited 4106d ago )

I had a ps3 that did this, but instead of peanut shaped items being left like artifacting, mine was that the 3d images, specifically the prominent polygons would show just a wireframe, and only textures would display correctly. I was playing heavenly sword, and when I ran through a tunnel-like area, right before I came out into the sunlight, my system went all triangular, and then the stuff happened on every single game I tried on it after that... My xbox 360 when it got a RROD wasn't from overheating, it was from a faulty HDMI port on my ELITE model getting bent. I assume it was from my stepdad plugging it in roughly and always putting it standing up instead sideways, and just treating it like crap in general, and leaving it on all the time.. like all day long he would either be watching movies, or playing games, while I was only 17 and working my ass off all day... I was playing Halo 3, and when I was in an online match, my syetem got all blueish/yellowish with the neg/pos look to all the graphics... All systems and electronics are prone to problems, and I don't think any manufacturer is free from this.

"Sonic Greenhill Zone 1" was the first thing that popped up in my head :/

Phoenix764106d ago

Lol +1 Chaos Emerald for you my friend :-D on topic: I've had the same issue with bf4 since launch. A driver update for the GPU 'might' resolve this issue.

Dehnus4106d ago

Looks like artifacts though. That can also mean a faulty GPU,as Sony did have a lot of demand to fill up, or a GPU that is not properly connected.

For the sake of the users I hope it is just a driver issue.
