I knew this was coming. I said it a long time ago. Nintendo needs to evolve.

Vegamyster3891d ago

Making games for smart phones isn't evolving.

TripC503891d ago

Evolving, no. Sadly, it's more like succumbing.

Read the article, bro.

"Therefore, we would like to, instead of directly expanding our business on smart devices, focus on achieving greater ties with our consumers on smart devices and expanding our platform business."

Anything that they release on smart devices will be for the sole purpose of advertising their hardware and software. They aren't expanding their business onto IOS and Android, as stated in the article. If they do release games, they won't be full fledged releases.

It's not what you thought.

Damn Nintendo to have stoop this far survive i guess this is survival of fittest!

NihonjinChick3891d ago

Title is misleading. Nintendo didn't confirm anything. The article states that Nintendo didn't give any specifics and Iwata did not confirm it directly.

Crillvirus813891d ago

Take this article down they didn't say that they said the opposite

NihonjinChick3891d ago

They technically didn't say anything specific. Here is the quote from Iwata, "I have not given any restrictions to the development team, even not ruling out the possibility of making games or using our game characters. However, if you report that we will release Mario on smart devices, it would be a completely misleading statement.”

Sounds to me like they will release apps featuring their characters but they won't be full fledged games. He is basically saying that you can expect to see something but don't expect to see the next installment of Mario on IOS.

"possibility of making games"

Sounds to me like we'll see some sort of Nintendo games on mobile platforms.

NihonjinChick3891d ago

@Pat_11_5, but the last part of his statement rules out the possibility of them releasing anything major. Don't expect a full fledged Mario game on your mobile device, you will be severely disappointed.

The author of this article should have chose a different title.

F-Zero: GP Legend, a Twenty Year Reunion

WTMG's Leo Faria: "Sadly, F-Zero: GP Legend did not become the commercial hit Nintendo was expecting, at least in the West. The game came and went, just like its anime counterpart. It was the last hoorah for the franchise in the States, if you don’t count F-Zero 99, that is. It wasn’t a bad game per se, but it felt like a setback after the excellent Maximum Velocity or F-Zero GX. As a result, it probably did not sell that well, Nintendo saw it as a sign that Westerners weren’t into F-Zero, and we’ve been living in this hellish drought of antigrav races featuring bird-named racers ever since. Twenty years later, it clearly doesn’t hold up very well, with a lot of people barely remembering its existence, unlike F-Zero GX."
