Xbox One, PS4 medieval RPG promises to blend Skyrim, Witcher, and Red Dead

After traveling the world in pursuit of a publishing deal, Mafia designer Daniel Vavra and his new company Warhorse Studios have launched a Kickstarter campaign for a new medieval RPG called Kingdom Come: Deliverance. They are asking for £300,000 to complete the CryEngine-powered project, aiming to launch in 2015 for PC, Linux, Xbox One, and PS4. The campaign is off to a quick start, with over £36,000 pledged so far from more than 1,000 backers.

We need a Magic & Fantasy-free Medieval RPG.

There are a lot of people who won't get into these games because of the dragons and magic and stuff.

I like what i see/hear about this game so far though.

Sounds freaking awesome but without fantasy and magic, wouldn't it be better described as Medieval red dead? witcher and skyrim were fantasy :E

It's gameplay would still be closer to Syrim. Should they really compare a 1st Person sword game to a 3rd Person shooter just because it lacks magic? The answer is no.

Ya thats what ive been saying. Ive been waiting for a game like this since like ps2. I hope the combat is deep and challenging but the clips of the combat look awesome. Its great to see how its almost at the goal after < 24 hours and big publishers said no one wants this game.

Well that title is a bit misleading. This kickstarter is for PC, Mac and Linux first in Q4 2015.

The closed platforms (PS4 and Xbone) is subject to approval by the platform holders so may come after the PC platforms date.

And the funding is at £213,867 of £300k with 28 days to go :)
Once the kickstarter is successful the game will get full funding by an investor.

true but if you read through it they are planning a simultaneous release across all platforms including ps4 and xb1. they are putting that in as a disclaimer but I really dont see any way they would have a problem with sony on this game with all the indie love being thrown out. If they do delay it, wouldnt that hurt their chances with ms also? I fully expect it day one on all systems.

I wish devs would stretch their imaginations further and realize that RPGs don't have to be confined to the medieval era. Still itching for an RPG in an ancient Egypt setting.

This sounds like a great idea for a game and its something I could get behind, and play.
I won't be shocked if it flops though.. Doesn't sound like it has the backing it needs.
Hopefully this investor stays on board and funds it to the full, when and if they get the $500 000 from the kickstarter campaign.
Also, I like the idea of not having that fantasy aspect. I can't think off the top of my head many RPG's that don't have some form of fantasy or magic incorporated. This seems to follow a more realistic format. I like the idea.

What i don't understand is are they going to put act1,2,3 into the full release or just act 1 and have 2&3 as dlc or something? i would gladly buy it separate if the game is as good as it looks. does anyone know how they are handling the acts?

Yes Acts 2 and 3 will come 6-8 months later and will cost around $35 each.

They are like the traditional expansion packs and not the usual DLC we see today. They'll add new quests to Act 1 and also add new lands to explore outside of Act 1 territory.
